Vaeda Archer
AW! "Pups now weigh 5-6 lbs.; the growth of adult hair around nose and eyes is now apparent, and their high-pitched howls gain strength and volume. Mothers may now leave den for hours to hunt. Play and dominance fights among siblings begin. At 1 month old, puppies fully enter their "toddler" stage. They are able to recognize and respond to their names and will, from this point onward, continue to expand their vocabulary. Simple commands and instruction can also be comprehended (ie. "Stop that," "No," "Come here.") and may be subject to repetition by echolalia and attempts to fully understand the word or phrase. At the end of this phase they should be able to complete two-word sentences (ie. "I eat" or "I go"). Estimated human age: 3 years old.

Vaeda would have prefered to stay within the den, they were allowed in the entrance and the area directly in front if someone was around. But, the child was nervous and probably going to be a late bloomer, a term she didn’t quite understand the concept of yet. What she did understand was the way her legs shook and her mouth felt so so dry as she stood at the end of where safety ended and danger began. She didn’t want to go out there. She did not want to leave the den, the safety and go out into the danger.

But, Vaeda was also very hungry after waking up from her nap and finding her mother gone. So here she stood, on the precipice of where she liked to be and where her mother had gone out into. Squeezing her puppy blue eyes shut the child poked her muzzle out into the fresh air, and to her surprise it wasn’t met with the warmth of sunshine. Squinting she was shocked to find the world was bathed with grey, why wasn’t the sky blue? What were those big grey things up in the air?

Her hunger took a back seat to her fear but even if it hadn’t she would have made the same call, ”Mom? Mom!? Oh this wasn’t good.

You are the vision I'm looking for.

Macha was on her way to the puppy den already, having collected an assortment of branches from various types of trees to bring to the pups in hopes they'd soak up some of the magical properties that each of them provided as they gnawed away at the barky texture. Though as she closed the distance, Vaeda's concerned cries reached her ears. Now dashing in the direction of the site, the young Archer prepared herself to tear the hell out of whoever was messing with her precious little siblings. However once she'd reached the location, the only thing greeting her was a terrified looking pup, and then it dawned on her that the poor little one must be afraid of the weather. "Now now.." The witch cooed, placing the branches carefully on the ground before gently nuzzling the small fae. "Everything is okay. This is rain, and it's supposed to happen! Do you want to learn about rain today while we wait for your mumma to come back?"

Vaeda Archer

Vaeda had a lot of siblings. This was a fact that she wasn’t quite aware of yet because to her everyone who wasn’t Mama or Papa were basically all the same. They were nice and brought them things sometimes and it made her mother happy to have visitors and gifts and so they were okay. But nobody was as good as Mama. Still, it would probably take a long time for her to figure out that it might not be exactly normal to have so many siblings that were only half related to you.

But, even if it wasn’t Mama who answered her call and came to her rescue relief still swept through the child. Oh good. So she wasn’t going to get hurt by the weird grey day because a grown up was here to help, surely there was something she could do. Vaeda couldn’t quite remember this dark wolf’s name who looked like Papa, but she remembered it kind of sounded like Mama. She was saying some things she didn’t totally understand but Vaeda caught the words rain and Mumma. Okay so the grey sky was rain probably and this girl’s name must be Mumma. ”Yes Mumma.” She said, mostly because she sensed that the grown up was waiting for a response. Then as an after thought she added, ”Rain,” because that also seemed pretty relevant.

Then Vaeda - with the new found confidence of having a grown up around- stuck her little nose out a little farther. Blinking in surprise when her snout got wet with something from the sky she looked back to Mumma for reassurance, ”Rain?” Did the grey sky rain make things wet? That was weird.

Sometimes I think Macha is a little creepy and for that I apologize xD

Macha's eyes widened and a strangely placed smile spread across her maw as the young pup referred to her as 'mumma'. Surely this couldn't be the case, right? Perhaps the fae had just been repeating the word back to her as if to say 'yes, let's wait for mumma'. Though it definitely sounded like she was calling her mumma. Boy wouldn't that be something. A mom? Macha? Ha! Though she wouldn't be apposed to taking on the role if that's what the child wanted. The Moon Mother's profit, a teacher of both spirituality and the craft, couldn't that hold some sort of 'mother' title of it's own?

The Archer watched as her little sister tested the rain first hand, and couldn't help but to giggle at the reaction. "Yes ma'am! Rain!" She then licked young Vaeda affectionately on the head, momentarily contemplating over different ways to explain the weather to help the growing mind better understand. Stepping away from the child, Macha walked a few paces over to a conveniently placed flower that had happened to be blooming. "You see this flower?" She spoke sweetly. "This flower needs the rain to grow! Just like you need your mama when you're hungry, this little guy needs rain!" Well, that and sunshine. Though the kid probably didn't understand the difference between hungry and thirsty just yet so this would just have to do for now. "Rain isn't scary, it helps entities like this flower and the trees and even grass to get big and strong just like your mom does!" She smiled at the young Archer, hoping that even an once of this somehow managed to get retained.

Sorry this took so so so long!

The pup was not sure that she liked the rain and how it made things wet but had decided that she did like Mumma. She laughed which was nice and she spoke nice words that she mostly didn’t understand but they sounded nice. She wanted to walk forward and see dark Mumma up close but didn’t particularly want to get anything wet like her snout had become. Digging her tiny claws into the dirt for a moment in hesitation Macha could probably see the gears turning in the child’s head trying to figure out what to do.

But it was something that Mumma said that made the choice easy. Waltzing out into the rain - and much to her chagrin getting wet - she declared, ”Rain make big.” It hadn’t really processed that she was all that different from the flower and that the rain wouldn’t miraculously make her double in size. So when that didn’t magically happen Vaeda looked her tiny paws over and then back up at Mumma in disappointment, ”I no big?” Why had she just gotten all wet if the rain wasn’t even going to make her grow? Did she have to get wetter or something? Did it take a while? She had so many questions.

Don't worry about it :)

With a bit of force, Macha found herself able to hold back her chuckle as the pup laid out her next few actions. No need to ruin the poor things pride, after all. Lowering her body to level out with Vaeda's height, the older Archer momentarily struggled with her reply. The child hadn't been on this beautiful planet for long yet, so there were still a lot of words and subjects that wouldn't make a lick of sense if she brought them up now. "It takes time, my little flower. But don't worry, you'll be big and strong before you know it!" the witch offered a gentle smile as she mentally beat herself up for not being able to come up with a real explanation. Ah well, they could re-discuss the matter in a couple of months or so if need be. "But that's why you shouldn't be afraid, the rain is our friend!"

Dark Mumma said a bunch more words that Vaeda didn’t understand, but that was okay because she had already decided that she liked the grown up. Plus, she liked that she talked to her the same way that she heard all the grown ups talk to each other. She wanted to be just like them. Which was why it was such a disappointment that the rain hadn’t made her instantly enormous. Beaming up at the yearling Vaeda repeated the words that she had understood which were, ”Big strong flower.” Not a real sentence but still pretty good for a pup, a pup who now had the slightly misguided impression that she was a flower and being in the rain would slowly make her bigger.

Vaeda thought maybe they should stay out here all afternoon, that way by the end of the day while she might not be as big as an adult she would be bigger than Anduin. It was a wet and a little cold, the rain a stark comparison to the warm air of the early summer. Despite shivering a little the pup nodded, ”Good rain,” then nodding again more firmly she repeated Mumma’s words, ”Rain friend.” Stamping her paws in the slick mud that was beginning to form under her paws Vaeda added one more thing before falling silent, ”Mumma friend.” She was after all a friend? If a friend meant good, like the rain was good then Mumma was definitely a friend.

Vaeda is literally the cutest thing ever oml!! Also sorry this took so long!

Each and every one of Vaeda's words managed to break Macha's heart in the best way possible. What a sweet, innocent little thing. Youth sure was a treasure, perhaps one of the greater ones the world had to offer. The older Archer was thankful for being given the opportunity to help mold this years litters, even if it was just in small ways like today. "Thank you, sweet girl." She grinned before noting that the poor thing had been shivering a bit. "Now why don't we get you into the den for a while to warm up?"
