She knew mother — or even sister — weren't far off. Granted the young girl did realize that if there was one around here, the other one was likely further away. She didn't really understand it but it provided her with ample time to explore. The small family seemed nomadic at best but they seemed to stay in the general area also. Caelia knew not of what places her family wanted and didn't want to be, she merely followed. Or she usually followed.

Today she was lounging by a creek, the pretty surface had mesmerized the child. It seemed to sparkle and glow. Every now and then she'd reach out a paw and splash the surface. A light-hearted giggle escaped her whenever the droplets went flying.

What had originally drawn Tenebrae away was what he thought was the scent of prey, the tangy aroma of an injured deer but after an hour of tracking it, he gave up when the trail ended at a creek. Because damn it, even if it was still around, the beast had no idea where it could be. And he no longer felt like trailing after something already lost.

Water was good at losing scents like that. But something else caught his attention as he turned away from the water, feeling more annoyed than tired from the unsuccessful attempt. The splashing of water and light hearted giggles caught his ears, the voice sounding young as he listened closely.

What was going on? He thought to himself as he prowled closer to the sounds. Because that sounded like it might be a pup but why would a pup be here, of all places?

yet his eyes landed on just that, a pup playing at the waters edge. Eyeing the dark pup for a moment, he opened his mouth.

"Water you doing there little one?" He questioned, not quite realisingjust yet this was the pup he helped defend from a pair of coyotes.

How dare someone distract her from her playtime?

A shrill sound escaped her before she bellowed out. "MAAAAAAAA!" There was nothing in response though and the dark stranger was still there. He looked a lot different than Ma and her sister. All shadowy. Like her. She didn't want to have to compete with the bigger shadowy man. Caelia knew she was the best shadowy figure there could be.

The Hervok had a devious childish grin plastered on her face. She knew what would teach the shadow stranger that she was the best. With the swipe of one growing paw, the girl aimed to drench the stranger in water. Caelia was a dreadful thing even at such a young age. Someone should have knocked some manners into her but that seemed pretty unlikely.

The water that splashed up onto his fur barely registered to him, since he was just far enough away that only a few drops landed on him.

"Didn't your ma ever teach you it's rude to splash strangers?" He huffed out, half jokingly. She was still a pup so he'd let it slide that she 'attacked' him. But that didn't mean he wouldn't strike back. Stepping towards the edge of the water, the large male sent a small wave at the girl with a grin. Might as well join the fun while he was here.

Still, he did wonder where the girl's mother was. The girl looked far too young to be living on her own, looking full of puppy fat yet small enough that told him she probably wasn't eating full on meat just yet.
