Elias Selwyn

Elias found himself wandering further and further from the Keep. He felt as though Ellery didn't need him quite as much, that other's were vying to slide in and take his place. He couldn't let that happen, he'd already lost his sons he couldn't stand the thought of losing her daughter too but...Elias sighed wistfully. He didn't care that he'd lost his rank, what good had it done him anyway? Maybe Elias just didn't belong in a pack, he was always getting cold paws, questioning whether he'd made the right choice all along. And there it was again, those crippling thoughts, worse than any aches or pains he experienced from his hecked toes.

Sometimes he wished he could just let it all go. And even sometimes he just wished he was dead.

He scrambled up the rock, his footsteps surprisingly sure even with his missing digits. He'd grown up on a mountain, this wasn't so different, it was all a simple matter of knowing where to step and what to avoid. The Selwyn climbed higher and higher, his gaze drawn towards the horizon. He'd set out with the intention of scouting or maybe even hunting, but this was what he needed, fresh mountain air. Or at least he hoped.

His nose twitched as his ears flitted forward. Ahead, he could smell carrion, fresh and tempting, Elias couldn't help but lick his lips as he scrambled up till he found himself up on an outcrop with only a dead mountain goat and a bald eagle for company.  For a moment he wondered what his best course of action would be, the eagle was greedily tucking in and the side glare it shot him made it pretty dang obvious it didn't want to share. Well maybe he could convince it otherwise, it was worth a try, right? It wasn't everyday that someone brought a mountain goat home to the Keep was it?

Flicking his tail high, Elias bared his teeth and snarled. This was his meal now, not the birds. Shoo shoo!

He expected the bird to take flight, to yield and soar off into the sky but-instead it whirled around and with a mighty beat of it's wings it was right in front of him, talons outstretched as it screeched in fury. Elias scrambled back as he felt a searing hot pain tear through his face. It clawed and it scratched as Elias tried to backtrack, only to realise there was nowhere left to go. A rock tumbled off the side of the ledge and bounced down the mountainside as his blood splattered to the floor.
