Ferreiran Morse
@Tzila Around noon

Ferreiran watched the forest for any signs of life. He wasn't too hungry right then but having a meal on hand, or in his case, on paw, was always useful. He was learning that as a lone wolf.

A rabbit dashed out of the trees, bringing all of the dark wolf's mind to the hunting. He dashed forward, almost tasting the meat already. It stayed just out of his reach, but he got closer and closer. But then a strange wolf scent tickled his nose. He was only distracted for a second, but that was enough time for the prey to get away. He gave a little growl of frustration. He didn't care if the other wolf knew he was there. That was his rabbit and his food and this wolf distracted him. He raised his tail and left his teeth bared. Ferreiran didn't want any social interaction anyway.

Tzila utterly despised summer. Everything about it, she hated. The scorch of the sun, the suffocating humidity and the abundance of insects. The season for her, was a very uncomfortable one. She preferred to keep active at night, conserving her energy during the heat of the day. And, had she still been with her family, that's exactly what she would be doing right now. But she had made a choice...the choice to turn her back on the only life she had ever known. She thought she would have no regrets. Thought that she would be just fine on her own. She had been overconfident.

Hundreds, perhaps thousands of miles away from her homeland, the yearling found herself lost in a strange and vast, but beautiful wilderness. Despite it's beauty, the dark female had found the going was rough in the time she had spent on her own. Taking down large prey was out of the question for a loner such as herself, so she had to settle for smaller meals or resort to scavenging. She was weary of packs. While grateful to be alone at last and away from her insufferable brother, she yearned for some form of company. She had been minding her own business, picking her way through this vast stretch of forest, in search of a safe spot to hunker down for a few days. Dark ears pricked up towards the sound of a fleeing hare. She watched it vanish with disinterest, more concerned about the nearby scent of another wolf. He was close...and then, she spotted him through the foliage. Silver eyes narrowed towards his aggressive, displeased little display. Her muzzle crinkled, but her teeth remained sheathed. "Cool it, tough guy. I ain't interested in no scrawny hare. You can have it." At least, not today.

He cooled off a little at the sight of a wolf. She was bigger than him, but definitely not a giant. He could possibly beat her in a fight. It all depended on her experience and skill. Ferreiran wasn't going to get in a fight with anyone unless he had to, though. As he was painfully reminded of every time he had to flee from coyotes, he was a lone wolf, and as such didn't have the protection and aid of anyone. @Vaken would maybe help him, but not if it was anything that directly affected him living another day. The dark male didn't blame his friend, not really. He had to look after his own life first. Though Ferreiran was loyally by the patchy wolf's side through good and ill, he recognized that not many others felt the same obligation.

His tail flicked a little to the side as he lowered it to a straight out position. He was slightly amused by her calling him "tough guy". That would not be the words he would use to describe himself. This wolf could probably crush him if she caught him by surprise, and she wasn't even that big. He stayed silent, as was his custom.

Silence. That was all she received from this wolf, even after she had spoken first. Aside from the slight lowering of his tail, he did not offer her much to interpret. Her gleaming eyes examined him; he looked to be around her own age, his coat was black with tints of red. Almost like herself, except that her rust tones resided solely on the scruff of her neck and shoulders. She sniffed softly, testing for any scent of a pack. There was none. He was likely a loner, just as she was.

"I ain't looking for no fight, either. Just a place to spend the coming night." Dismissively then, she turned to resume walking in her intended direction. She didn't move far yet, only towards a misshapen cluster of rock slab that jutted sharply into the earth. There she lowered her head to inspect the space where stone and soil joined. However she kept those ears pricked, her dark tail lashed actively as if to warn him he'd better not try anything funny. "But if you want that hare so bad, there is a warren a ways back. Chances are it'll return to it sooner or later."

Well this was short, but I don't think he'd stick around. Feel free to write your exit or just archive.

If she had talked to Ferreiran a bit more, she would have quickly learned that he didn't talk unless it was absolutely necessary. This was not one of those times. He was sending some clear messages with his body language, and why she wasn't already gone was really a confusing question. Maybe she liked to talk a lot, but he would not answer. He decided to up his aggression.

But before he could even snarl, she told him some good information that made him pause. Yellow eyes still locked onto her, he growled one last time and began walking backwards, the way you would if you had seen a bear or other predator. The warren she spoke of would be his next destination, if only to see if she was telling the truth. Once he was about two meters away from the female who looked like him he turned and ran off.

Swearing.

Well then. This chance little meeting was going nowhere fast. The near look alike wolf clearly was the silent type, and not in the friendly sort of way. But for all his posturing and outwardly projected aggression, Tzila really couldn't have cared. She had been minding her own, and it was he who had caught wind of her and gotten all snarly. All she had done was make her intentions clear and offer him a tidbit of advice. As his aggression beefed up a bit, she braced herself to take a threatening step forward. She may be young, she may be spoiled and a little inexperienced, but Tzila was not a pushover.

Then, he seemed to consider her advice, and lucky for them both, backed up and retreated deeper into the forest. Pursing her lips, she spat once at the ground, staring after his long vanished form. "Yeah, you can go fuck off..." She turned to resume her inspection of a potential makeshift den, but as she did, something most delectable teased her nostrils. Twenty yards away, wedged awkwardly between the trunks of two trees, was a half eaten elk carcass. Lunar eyes twinkling, a pleased smirk broke out over her maw as she approached. "Well well well. Guess I came out on top after all." She drawled, placing a possessive paw atop the carcass. Her ego thoroughly bloated, she settled down to enjoy her free dinner.
