Oksana Baranski

The Crow sat in the snow looking at the fresh grave tears falling from her eyes. It had only been dug the day before by her own paws. It wasn't something she wanted to do but it was her duty. When they'd set out on their journey back to the lore the young Baranski knew thus was how it would end. She had not expected this time to come so soon. Oksana had hoped a few more years would pass before this time would come in her life. Now that it had she needed to figure out what she would do next.

The Ethos seemed like such a strange place, it looked so different from the last time she'd seen it. Two years had passed since the lore had been her home and in that time it seemed to have changed so much. The journey through Kingsfall And then into Lavender Ethos had shown how much it had over grown. Signs of the wolves that had once lived there were few and far between. She wondered where everyone was, what had happened to them after she'd fled the lore with her mother.

Inna was the reason she found herself back in the lore. The two of them had traveled a long way to get there and she'd been worried. Her mother had taken her away from Driftwood telling her that something bad was going to happen. Inna had still been a loner at the time and traveled often. Sometimes she'd take Oksana with her which have the young Raven the chance to learn more of the places within the lore. Usually Inna was by herself during her travels. The Raven had told her daughter she'd seen signs that something was going to happen. Ahe wasn't sure what but it woukd be bad when it dis happen. They had to leave the lore to stay safe.  So she'd went with her mother believing that her mother was telling her the truth even if she didn't understand how Inna knew.

For two years Oksana stayed with Inna getting to know her mother better. They grew much closer than they had been while in the lore. She learned about their family and all the things that she'd never learned as a pup. The most important thing she learned was how to survive on her own. It hadn't been easy at first for the Crow because of her leg. Despite Lachesis best efforts she still walked with a limp though not as pronounced as it once was. Sometimes in the colder months she felt pain through the limb but Oksana was strong, she pushed through it all.

The Crow remembered the day Inna had come to her and told her that it was time to return to the lore. It had been so long so she questioned her mother, why did they have to go back there? The Raven was reluctant at first to tell her. She used the reasoning that she had a feeling but Oksana didn't go along with that this time. She was older and had learned so much. More importantly she knew her mother. Finally Inna confessed the real reason.

She was dying, the Raven knew it and wanted to return to her homeland to be buried next to her mother and father.  Whether it was due to her age or the fact that she'd been a loner most of her life and it had taken a toll or there was something wrong inside she didn't know. All she knew was that her time had come. Oksana couldn't deny her mother her wishes. That was how she found herself sitting in front of the fresh grave.

Inna had passed away the previous morning and by night Oksana had sadly laid her mother to rest.  The Crow had chosen a place as close to Maksim and Kisla as she could. It was the perfect place and she knew that her mother would be happy there.

She was grateful for the last two years with her mother. They'd been able to make up for the time they'd lost and become closer. She would always cherish that time but it was time for her to move on. She had spent the last day and a half thinking about what her future would hold. The lore was her home and the danger seemed to have passed. It was time she created a life for herself there where she could remain close to her mother. Maybe build the Baranski family back up to where they once stood.
