Hrun Aethelred
Hrun had been mostly silent within the group, usually happier to let his twin brother take the lead in any chatter among the group. He had never been much of a talker, but was courteous and respectful when spoken to. The dark wolf was no conversationalist and still preferred the company of his brother to the strangers within the group. When not with his brother, Hrun kept to himself, often running ahead or lagging behind, but always keeping closeby. That morning he awoke early, as was the norm with him, and shook the snow from his pelt. He did a headcount, which he often found himself doing, and tried to wake @Maugrim up.

Maugrim did not budge. He gave his brother a good, sloppy lick, but was met with muffled groans, a shifting, and then silence again. Hrun let out a puff of hot air, which looked like smoke coming from his jaws, and then turned away from the sleeping group. He walked slowly and quietly, taking careful steps as to not disturb anyone. When he was free to make more noise, he stopped his slow walking and then picked up the pace. Today he’d run ahead, maybe catch up with the group again in the evening. Or Maugrim would find him, either way, Hrun wasn’t about to abandon the group.

Hrun froze mid-step, his ears perking forward. In the dark morning, the stars still twinkled above and would do so for a few more hours, or at least until the sun decided to become bright enough to outshine their sparkle. The fog that showed his breath had stopped for a moment, his golden eyes narrowing in the darkness.

Hudson "Huddy" Macieo
Well if you wanted honesty that's all you had to say

He’d just begun to rouse when he heard the crunching of paws on snow and felt a form tiptoe past him, clearly trying to be as quiet as possible. If he’d still been asleep it would have worked and they’d have moved on by without a movement from him. But, as it was, he was awake and figured he might as well see who it was.

His head lifted from Sága’s warm side, a yawn stretching his mouth open before it came back together with a sharp click. He gave himself another moment to really wake up before groggily getting to his feet, picking his own way past the bodies and following the scent that he’d come to know as Hrun. The pair hadn’t really talked much, minding their own business, but if they were both up they might as well have some interaction. So, picking up his pace a little, he was quick to come up alongside the man who was squinting at the sky, his breath coming out in clouds of fog. Hudson stretched wordlessly, bending into downward dog for his shoulders then upwards for his hips, little pops here and there being the only sounds heard in the early morning. Then, he gave a grunt of greeting.

Hrun Aethelred
Hrun had not expected anyone to join him. At first, he’d thought that he had managed to tip toe past the group without waking a soul. So when he could hear popping and snapping, he had at first chucked it up to the cracking of ice somewhere, or some small prey animal stepping on a branch. He continued to look ahead, his fur standing on end. He couldn’t help the strange feeling that something was following him… perhaps as punishment from straying from the group. Before he could step forward and investigate, the sound of another broke the morning silence. Hrun, startled as ever, jumped and flinched away from the sound. He was stumbling over himself, comically failing to plant his paws firmly on the ground before finally, the fight against gravity lost, he fell to the ground. His golden eyes were wide in shock and embarrassment, quickly he scrambled to his paws. Angry at himself, but unwilling to direct that anger towards himself, Hrun’s face was wrinkled and he was fully prepared to take his frustrations out on..

Hudson.

He quickly wiped his anger off of his face, nose wriggling as he rid himself of angry maw-wrinkles. Hrun’s first attempt at interacting with the group had not gone entirely well, and since then he’d found it best that he kept his distance a bit. It wasn’t that he didn’t like or want to be with the group, but he just felt… uncertain. His own pack had been more forgiving of his antics (of which he saw no fault in), and his new group of potential-packmates were not exactly that way. Maybe in time they would be, but for now Hrun couldn’t help but to feel a little bit like an outcast. Whether or not that was true had yet to be seen.

“Hudson,” he finally said the man’s name, the group’s leader’s dark coat standing out starkly against the cool blues of snow. “I apologize,” he breathed, “I had not intended to wake anyone from the group this morning… I will remember to be quieter next time.” Because only a sleepless wolf would be up so early, wouldn’t they? Either way, he was up, and now Hudson was up, and their stance on each other was foreign to Hrun. Whatever that stance was, Hrun was desperately trying not to get paw-smacked again. He had not liked getting paw-smacked, especially when the whole group had been around to witness it.
