As his sister loosened up, Aweho let himself relax. This other little wasn't so bad! Because Mar thought so. So he stood up and let his ears go up straight. They still kind of wiggled when he heard other things, which was frequently. Aweho kept mouthing "hi" while the stranger kept going and he looked at Mar when she began her bouncy greeting. And then he mouthed "Nera" thoughtfully a few times so he could say it right.

"Nera! Mar! Way! Hi!" He said everything at once because it felt like the right thing to do! And Mar said her whole name, so he joined her. "Maaaaar-huh. Way. Ahhhhhwayawooo!" His attempt at his name trailed off into a puppy howl. Maa never did that, but he just couldn't help it.

As the other Littles bounced back at her, Enera grew even more excited. "Mar! Wayooooooooo!" she let herself join the other Little in the strange noise. She found it came from her throat naturally, and it was fun! She did it again, then bounced forward with a happy bark and flopped over on her side, rolling and batting a paw playfully at the pair.

"Way! Mar!" she liked speaking. It made her feel all grown up, like Mama and the other Big Ones. {b}"Oooooo!"[/I]

Awayway said all their names together and it seemed so fun! So Marrah joined in, ”Nera! Mar! Way! Nera! Mar! Way!” It was fun, as fun as her brother had made it seem! She lifted her little muzzle and joined in on his howl, added her yelpy howl of her own, as whiny and babyish as it was. Sooner or later an adult would come and find them with all the noise that they were making.

But, this was all so new, and so so exhausting. Marrah felt her eyelids beginning to droop and the irresistible pull of sleep calling to her. Yawning so wide it made her eyes water, she turned, pulling on her brother’s tail. Looking back at the other brother she chirped, ”Nera!” in an attempt to call her back to the den. It was time for them all to nap, even though one of them didn’t really belong there.
