The day before had been magical. Not in the sense that he’d fallen in love, because gross and unnecessary. But magical in the sense that...well you get the gist. Whatever happened after was the problem of the pretty, nameless lady who’d become his bedfellow, which was part of the joys of being a man, really. All fun and no work made Lee a happy camper.

However, he did make sure to stop by a stream to wash the scent of the woman off of him before he’d headed back to his brothers. God forbid they smelled her on him, Lachesis’ soul would eject from his father’s body and project itself through one of them. Probably Legolas, if he were being honest. Leander was too meek, Landen was too naive, so that left Leggy, who could give him an earful when he really felt like it. And that day, he really didn’t feel like getting one. So a cold bath was just the trick.

He pulled himself out and gave himself a good shake before beginning his trek back north, where the rest of the Stark kiddos had set up shop in the old Surge territory.

Riven
Spring was weird. It had been weird last year, too, with the smells and the women and men going nuts trying to have puppies. Riv understood it, logically - the desire to copulate and pass on genetics and all of that. Plus, puppies were wonderful little creatures, so the flames that erupted in Spring at least ended in good things.

But the women smelled so weird, in a way that almost made Riven’s stomach turn and caused him to withdraw in on himself. It made him uncomfortable and uneasy, and he found himself hoping that Adelard would not partake in the activities that this year would bring. Which was stupid, because that was the man’s choice, but... well, Riven didn’t understand it all, himself. It was a very confusing time for him, especially now that he was older.

He padded up to the water’s edge, hoping to find a relaxing spot to clear his head, but was interrupted by the sight of a wolf - larger than himself, pale in coloration, with green eyes and weird markings on his face. Handsome, of course, broad and well muscled, and... soaking wet. It was still cold - why was he in the water?

“What are you doing in the water?” he questioned worriedly, brows drawn up and blue eyes round as he approached the stranger. Perhaps he should’ve been more careful, but he was far too worried about this strange wolf to care right now. “It’s so cold - you could get sick!” There was no judgment in his tone - just concern, and justly so. Because while he loved his pack dearly, Riv’s desire to care for others stretched beyond just that. “Are you okay?” he finished, eyes wide as he took in the sight of the other man, genuine worry clear in his expression.

Leith had been sure he’d been alone when he came out from his little dip, but the sound of a young male voice made him pause. He asked what he’d been doing in the water and the Stark man could feel a sigh welling up in his chest. He turned with a frown, emerald gaze narrowed as he intended to bite out a snark but he felt it go slack on his tongue. The pale man had to do a double take, looking around them for another figure because surely it hadn’t come from the petite wolf in front of them. They were too pretty to be a man. But, the lack of another presence and the distinctly masculine scent that came off him told him otherwise.

Lee found himself confused with his feelings, because he was a man and surely men didn’t find other men attractive. That was reserved for women, with their feminine curves and alluring scents. But god, if the young man in front of him didn’t have nearly all the hallmarks himself. He let out an awkward cough, relaxing his features from their previously somewhat hostile disposition. “Uh, ‘m fine. Got most ‘f m’dad’s Arctic blood in me, double coat ‘nd all that. Hardly felt th’ water, t’ be honest,” he replied, not even bothering to hide the slightly confused and curious look on his face. “Look, ah gotta ask. Yer a dude, right?” he just really needed to make sure.

So sorry for the wait!

Riven hadn’t had many wolves look at him quite like that before - he had no idea what to think of the expression on the stranger’s face, and he was pretty sure his own had screwed up in some semblance of confusion. The other man was looking at him like he was trying to figure something out, and it almost made Riv want to squirm, blue eyes watching the other wolf as he got out of the water. That was just... a weird way to look at someone you’d just met.

Arctic blood - Riv had some of that, himself, but before he could say it, the other man barreled on with a question. One that the healer hesitated before answering, amusement and a tiny bit of awkwardness showing through as he laughed.

“Er, yeah, last I checked,” he responded, tail setting on a wag behind him. “Is that a normal question to ask strangers?”
