Hezekiah Cypress

The fluttering of wings woke him to find sunlight dappled across the ground. He hadn’t intended to fall asleep here but the lull of the night was like siren song to tired ears, and he couldn’t quite shake the grogginess that greeted him. The grove had seemed a perfect place to stop and rest, tucked away in what had been shadows from moonlight at the time, but was now exposed to the glare of a late morning sun.

A yawn split his maw in two so strongly that he could not quiet his voice though he had nothing to fear—it was still quiet here, nestled deep in the arms of the woodland that he had forgotten all about what it was like to have stirred in a bed of tall grasses rolling like breakwater waves. The novelty of the wilderness hadn’t wore off and the prodigious mountains, now looming over him, were no longer so distant to be explored.

Hezekiah, the Scarecrow of the Dreadwood, finally rose and let his long limbs stretch out ahead of him. It was almost feline-like the way that he arched his back, his tail coiling every bit as much as his toes dug into the soft, supple earth. He shook out his coat next as another yawn overtook him, this time silent in its utterance.

And then he was off—to find something to drink, that was.

Sharlee Valle

It wasn't too often that Sharlee traveled away from the pack. She liked to stick around in case someone needed something. Especially now with two litters on the way. It was important that Vanadis and Clover felt they had the support of the pack. On that day However, the young Valle girl had quite literally stumbled across the scent of a rabbit. She just couldn't let it pass with out a strong effort in trying to catch it.

Her searching had eventually led her from the pack lands. As she looked up and took stock of the area she realized that it was a place she'd been before plenty of times. That was good! At least she hadn't gotten lost was she followed the trail.

Another scent hit her though. It was unfamiliar but she knew it to belong to a wolf. Interesting. She immediately became distracted as she moved toward the direction of the other. Soon she caught up with him and gave a friendly bark to get his attention.

A voice called out to him suddenly, bringing the Scarecrow’s steps to a halt. He drew his firewater orange gaze around to take in who had stopped him; she was not too different than him, only larger, maybe younger by a touch. That darker pelt alone made her a wolf of the mountains and he by comparison would always be a wolf of the plain.

It was enough to set rise to his hackles, the darker, agouti banded ones along his nape and shoulders were among the first to rise. Ward and warning both, same with the slight raise of his tail as though it would make him seem just a little bit larger, perhaps more formidable when he was not. She was the first wolf he had encountered in a long time.

Hezekiah couldn’t find the words to speak; his mouth was dry, tongue sticking. She seemed friendly enough, had a pretty face and all, but he couldn’t help but wonder what intent lurked behind the directness of her approach. Instead he canted his head to the side slightly, questioning. What did she want?

Sharlee Valle

Sharlee's first time out away from the pack in a little while had left her a little excited to meet someone new. The truth was she hadn't really been expecting it so she saw this ad something of a treat. Who knew maybe he was searching for a home and she just happened to have one if he were so inclined. She didn't have to many expectations but it didn't hurt to hope she supposed.

However, she was not expecting the greeting or perhaps warning was a better way to describe it. She stopped in her tracks before she could put herself onto harms way. Vayko would probably kill her if she came home injured or maybe he would hunt this guy down and teach him a lesson.

Sharlee hadn't come for a fight so she kept her posture neutral as she spoke. "There's no need for all of that. I come in peace and thought it would be nice to introduce myself." Her words were spoken gently hoping that might calm the stranger down.
