Kateri was making a habit of venturing outside the den. Each time she would try to sneak a little further, as she was quickly learning there was so much more beyond the little clearing. She knew, however, she was too small to get too far, but it did not stop her from trying. She shuffled, slowly and carefully, away from the entrance of the den, her little ears doing their best to listen for lurking packmates. Unfortunately for Kateri, everything sounded out of the ordinary as she was still processing what, and who, the new sounds belonged to.
Unbeknown to Kat, she was not alone.
A feathered figure stood tall in one of the nearby trees, its rich, obsidian eyes fixated on the young Slayer girl.
As usual, she was blissfully unaware of her surroundings, too fixated on each new scent that tickled her nostrils. She slumped back onto her hindquarters, a happy hum filling the back of her throat as she glanced around, surveying how far she had made it this time from the den. (Which was not very far to those with long legs, for Kateri it was quite a feat.)
