All welcome || Random Event: The nearby plants sparkle with autumn frost. || Early morning, 39° F

T'was the season once more. Finally, it would seem the blistering heat of summer had decided to relinquish its death-like grip upon the world and pass the baton over to its sibling autumn, much to Sphinx's relief. Gradually the day-to-day temperature had begun to drop, welcoming the darker pelted female some mornings with a certain crispness to the air and who was she not to take mental note of this subtle sign of the changing of the seasons. Before long, winter would be howling at their doorstep. This morning, though, had plans to reveal new hints within.

Pastel rays of light that signified the breaking of dawn began to break through the thinning canopy above and illuminate the world momentarily clad in darkness. One such ray of light managed to land directly on the whitewashed cheek of a slumbering Sphinx, gently warming the patch of skin like a good morning kiss to rouse the sleepy woman. A salmon tongue eventually rolled from between parted jaws, head lifted from its once rested position on outstretched paws to allow a yawn to shatter the morning quietness before daring to open tired eyes.

Once they did, though, amber irises were greeted with a splendor only this time of day could manage to produce. An array of colorful leaves amongst the various plant life that called the forest floor home glistened in the pale morning light, the first autumn frost making its presence known as its icy touch outlined even the most minuscule detail upon the vegetation. Mother nature was an artist like none other.

Such a sight brought a small curve to the woman's lips, rising to her feet to give her pelt a hardy shake to not only remove the debris that collected in her fur while she slept but the last traces of sleep itself. Since the day had now begun, so too was her mission for the day. The Rye wasn't going to find itself.

Clover Assana

It was a particularly frosty morning that Clover awoke to. She could feel it in the air as she stepped out of the den, her gaze landing on the now sparkling vegetation around her. Lips pursed as she glanced around and shook out her pelt, taking the time to consider what she would do that morning. Picking plants and leaves while they were frosty was not ideal as she found they often wilted far more quickly than if they were picked while under more better conditions. But perhaps the vegetation in thicker forest cover would not be as frosty. Her mind made up, Clover began the trek eastward, keeping an eye and ear out for any suitable herbs to pick or other wolves around.

She quickly found herself in the thick undergrowth of the forest that still to this day had her on edge no matter how often she made a trip inside. It was just too quiet, not even a peep from the birds was able to be heard. Clover quickly set to work, snuffling around amongst the vegetation, but quickly found that even the thicker and hard to reach parts were all covered in a thin gleaming frost sheath. A sigh escaped her maw as she then turned her attention to the trees around her, deciding that if she could not harvest plants she might as well grab some more bark.

It did not take her long to find the evergreen trees she sought out, and after a quick sniff check to confirm it was the species she was after, she quickly got to work. Her front legs raised up, claws scratching deeply into the bark to separate a large piece of it from the trunk of the tree. With nimble grace she gently tugged at a raised edge with her teeth, slowly pulling and peeling the bark away until finally she stood on all fours, the somewhat rectangle looking piece of bark hanging from her jaws. This would do very nicely for her medicinal storage.
