@Kip

Life at the cove had been bountiful and happy. Their numbers were rising and the close connections between all of them were growing stronger especially with the presence of the new Cove cubs. The first ever father was blessed with four beautiful children to watch over and care for. Aleister couldn't be more thankful for the life he had in those moments, so he would not of imagined how close he was to losing it all.

It all started with a silly little cough...

Then the landslide of symptoms tumbled down upon him so fast, he didn't realize how sick he was until he could barely walk the borders without running out of breath and succumbing to a cough fit that would make him retreat to the den for the rest of the day. Aquene eventually forbade him from leaving the den for his health and the rest of the pack's. They had to figure out what was going on with him in case his illness was infectious.

Aleister couldn't be more thankful for @Chan as he didn't refuse looking after the rest of the pack while he recovered. A few days, he should be back to his prime, however, they were all in for a surprise. Luckily, the illness that took over the Vuesain would not spread to the rest of the pack. Though, it would take a whole lot longer than any of them anticipated for the Cove patriarch to recover. Days turned into weeks. His cough worsened while a mighty fever ran thick in his veins pulling him in and out of consciences for days on end. Al barely remembered who came to see him during those fleeting moments, though he knew most if not all of the pack visited him. If it wasn't for @Aquene and Landen's ever watchful eyes, Aleister wouldn't be seeing his children ever again and the thoughts of seeing his children was the greatest motivator for him to keep fighting.

Eventually weeks turned into months before he was even remotely able to move more than a few yards from his den. All the weight he had lost during those months was partially gained back, but he still had more to go. His once filled out body was lean and lanky with the weightless. Aleister still suffered from a lingering cough if he exerted himself too greatly, but the difference from the coughing fits that used to immobilize him was enough to get him discharged from his medical den.

Al was taking one day at a time and today he wanted to take a walk by the lake before heading to the communal den to visit with everyone. Taking a deep breath as he settled along the pebble littered bank of the Lake, his mismatched gaze looking out across the valley he wasn't so sure he would see again.
