a flash of searing pain came from nowhere, erupting from the depth and darkness of dreams. it robbed her of warmth, dispelling the illusion of familiarity and safety at once. she peeled an eye open tentatively; the world before her was not the one she thought she had been in, and the one of present was shaded and blurry.

lying prone in a nest of wilting grass, she closed her eyes as reality washed over her. a few sensations jumped to the forefront—thirst, hunger, ever constant ringing in her ears and a pounding ache that seemed to radiate from the back of her skull—and overrode any pressing concern as to where she could have been.

but when she opened her eyes again, the wonder of such returned. pressing past the pain and trying to clear her vision, she pushed herself up into a more reclined position and took things in. it was a deep run of timber with sprawling canopies that tangled and twined and further cast into shadow by the mountains that loomed.

she was hesitant in turning towards the wall of stone that rose sharp from the dry earth, but it did not look familiar. nothing about anything looked familiar, nor did it smell like a place she had been before. strange. it should have sparked unease to go with all else, but all she felt was a sense of bewilderment.

slowly she rose to her feet, making sure she was sturdy and able to walk. the mountain fell under her gaze once again. had she fallen from up there? seemed unlikely, unless she was meant to be a ghost. the mountain didn’t seem the sort of place a wolf could fall and live and doubtful it would hold answers, she set off into the long shadows of the wood.

finding water seemed like the first thing to do.

yet she knew not how difficult that would be.

Eros routinely checked each spring he knew of throught the murky wood for renewal, still hoping that it woukd come any day now. Down from the skies or up through the ground, the water had to come back. Right?

Instead of the crisp scent of aquifer, meandering further brought him upon the traces of a stranger clinging to greenery and breeze alike. Intrigue arose within him, pulling him to the unknown wolf with swiftness. His peach eyes shone still, despite their sinking into his skull from dehydration.

"Hello?" he called out, unreserved.

"Who are you?"
