It’d been such a long time since he had heard it, with this drought, that Jet almost didn’t recognize the sound. Wandering through the magnificent forest of Kingsfall, the sound of rain approaching through the forest took him a moment to place. A cool downdraft carried with it the wonderful scent of water though, confirming it wasn’t just an illusion or something conjured up by his mind.
Jethro stopped and turned his gaze upwards, toward the overcast sky. And then suddenly, it was pouring. The drops were cold and just a little bit painful as they pelted him and drenched everything in his immediate area. But the novelty of it, given just how severe the drought had become in recent days, was enough to keep him rooted to the ground.
The dark one closed his eyes against the assault but otherwise remained almost as still as a stone, enjoying the moment for what it was. And offering a silent hope that maybe this was a signal of positive changes to come.
