Flair Smoke-Athesila
Story time for @Ryder, @Caspian and Moma @Finley <3

The approach of winter became more and more apparent every day, and with that the pressure one the russet woman’s shoulders feeling more and more acute. She’d gotten a lot to think about after her talk with Jethro, leading to several long walks through the woods and, especially, into the lowlands. The open landscape reminded her of her family home on the tundra – a bittersweet memory, but very fitting now that she was contemplating the practicalities of settling a pack.

She was on one of these walks when a flash of white amongst the dried grass caught her attention. Instinct made her freeze in place, crouching down to hide amongst the foliage as she narrowed her eyes to focus on the creature – a ptarmigan, already changing into its winter plumage in preparation for the snows; Yet another reminder… Though one she took instant advantage of, managing to ambush the white bird which didn’t realize its sudden lag of camouflage.

The fat bird might have made a nice meal for herself, but she decided she’d rather surprise the pups with a treat the probably hadn’t tried before. And on top of that, the white feathers had reminded her of a story she thought they might enjoy. So, as the sun started to set, Flair made her way to where Finley usually kept her boys overnight, offering up her catch with a light wag of her tail; “I thought th’ boys might like a treat, and p’haps a story?”

Caspian
He had been half-asleep, until he approach of familiar but unexpected footsteps brought Caspian's head up. He was tired from stretching his leg and rebuilding his strength in recent days, but his adventures had yet to crossed paths with the fire-hued woman recently. He was glad to see her again, wagging his tail as she arrived. "Hi, Flair! How've ya been?"

Getting up to greet her, he sniffed at the white-feathered thing she'd brought. Cas could make his way along without a limp as long as he didn't rough-house too much. Maybe, he could tag along on a hunt soon. Something like the bird Flair had brought them shouldn't give him too much trouble. He'd have to ask about it later, he thought.

Ears snapped up as she offered the meal and a story. "Yes please!" He loved a good tale, and as the evening shadows grew the lad was happy to settle in for the ride. A yawn escaped him then, but he tried his best to fight off the cozy sense of sleepiness.

Finley Lennox Kane

The single mother had been lounging with the boys near the den, ever since her conversation with Caspian she had been hanging closer. Once his ankle was better and he would feel less left out she would resume normal activities, but for now she felt a little extra protective. It had been a rather lazy afternoon, Finley watching the geese migrate in their signature V shapes as Caspian dozed in and out.

Not the most exciting of times, but she would much rather be bored than in danger, especially with her children involved. At the sound of approaching footsteps Finley perked up, putting herself into a more presentable sphinx-like position. Seeing Flair brought a smile to her face, and her tail wagged behind her a couple of times. The arrival of Caspian and departure of Chan had created a sort of bond between the two, and the mother no longer worried that the other woman would try to lay claim on the boys. Besides, she was well aware that they needed more than just her in their life.

At Caspian’s proper manners she looked at him approvingly and gave him a beaming smile. Then she added, ”Well, a story certainly beats all the nothing we were doing, doesn’t it Cas?” Maybe this would take his mind off his leg for a little bit.
