Hearthwood River Beyond these borders

The Valle boy was now a yearling and he'd been away from the backwater for a few months now. He'd thought about his family frequently but had decided that his place was with his new pack. Especially now that there were new puppies that needed looked after. The young Valle felt that he hadn't been a very good big brother to his sister's but maybe he could make it up by helping with the pups.

So he was on the look out for some special gifts that he could bring back to each of them. During his search he poured over the ideas of what they might like to have. An antler to chew on or maybe a pretty rock to play with. There were plenty of options.

His search lead him further from the pack territory but as he entered the unfamiliar forest he didn't think that was such a bad thing.

He had been trying, lately, to get out more to look for Caspian. Jethro hadn’t been able to spend a lot of time doing that, especially with the newest children all beginning to grow more mobile. It was painful to think about Caspian being out there alone for all of this time, but there were still other priorities and only so many hours in the day.

But he did what he could.

It was not Caspian’s scent he crossed today, though, but another. A Valle child that’d been brought to them in the middle of winter, not in the best of condition, but that had decided to stay.

Jethro had, of course, seen him around. Had noticed that he was trying to help, and appreciated that immensely. But like so many things, he hadn’t had the opportunity to spend an extended period with Nix.

Perhaps that could change today. He set off after the kid, maintaining a quick gait that eventually brought him in closer to the kid. With a short woof to alert Nix as he drew closer, Jet slowed, a small smile upon his countenance, tail waving lazily.

”Hey there, Nix.”
