I’m Back Between Villages

When the Maceio-Tainn woman finally arrived at her childhood home it was only a couple of hours before the sun reached its peak in the sky. A beautiful day, warm but not hot, sunny with only a few clouds filtering out the sun’s rays, a stark contrast to Marrah’s turmoil. At first she had thought that she must be confused, that this place just happened to look like her old home but was actually somewhere else.

It was empty. No clearly marked borders, no bustling pack, no welcome of any kind. Marrah had been bracing herself for what she thought would be the worst, that they would chase her away and denounce her. This was worse.

Lifting her muzzle into the air the dark wolf let out a mournful howl for her missing family, for everything that she had given up a year ago. It was the right thing to do, she still thought that, but she had never expected for them to also abandon this place. The fake gold glittered in chunks along the chasm, but it was her who felt like the fool.

I’m Back Between Villages

The dark woman stayed for a while, she wasn’t sure how long. A few hours maybe. She visited all of her old favourite spots. Her first den with her brother and her mom, the places she and Enera had spent so long playing and growing up. The pond that used to freeze and her Aunt Woya had taught them how to slip. Every spot brought a wave of emotion, she laughed, she cried, but mostly she smiled. She had hoped they would be here to give her the closure she needed, but it turned out this was all the finale that she needed. Marrah liked to think they had gone somewhere better, happier, leaving this place untouched but by the memories of the pack that had once been.

Then she too was gone, ready to keep this memory alive, but from a different chapter of her life. Somewhere where maybe she too could let go of the past and be happy.

And Everything’s Still

End of thread, Marrah has now left the Lore.
