Pakuna Atea

After Pakuna had finished speaking, Volkan dove into a different conversation. Now smiling, Pakuna bobbed her head in what seemed like excitement. "I love the Creek with all me heart." She said, her pale eyes catching a ray of the sun. Flicking her tail lightly, she turned to observe a squirrel scaling up a mossy tree. It climbed with such an agile grace, circling up the old tree while its fluffy tail flowed behind it. Looking back to the woman before her, she spoke again "I be hopin' to gain ranks. I wish to show me worth and serve with everything I have." With these words, the brown wolf seemed to puff her chest up in pride.

It was true. She wanted to climb in ranks, and please her leaders as much as they could. She checked the borders quite often, and hunted to fill the cache at the den site. It was exhausting, but Pakuna enjoyed it. Looking back to the tree, the squirrel was gone. Head tilting in wonder, Pakuna sighed almost inaudibly before looking to the canopy of mangled branches. "Ye like it too?"

Volkan Aquila

Volkan, too, watched the squirrel as it made its way up a nearby tree. Her smile remained; she was glad to hear that Pakuna found the pack to her liking. Where at one time their pack had seemed to be flourishing, their numbers had now steadily leveled off, it seemed. It was nice to know that they had at least one member who didn't seem to be leaving anytime soon.

Volk nodded at Pakuna's question, though her words were what struck her. Her smile was replaced now with a grin, slightly mischievous, as her head and tail rose. Pakuna's confidence hadn't gone unnoticed, and Volkan adjusted her posture naturally to match. So she wanted to rise in the ranks, huh? The Aquila female had become very interested in what her pack mate had to offer. If she wanted to rise in the ranks, maybe Volk could see what she was made of.

"Everything you got, hm?" She responded playfully, elevated tail swishing behind her. "You ever fight at all?" If so, perhaps a little spar was in order. Volk hadn't had one in a while, and besides, it might not hurt to give Pakuna's skills, whatever they were, a test drive.

Pakuna Atea

Pakuna watched Volkan, unsure of what she was thinking. Tossing her head, she nodded "Aye. Been in a few fights in me life. Fightin' be nothin' to be proud of, I say." The tawny woman had always thought fighting as something pointless, unless extremely necessary. She had fought to protect her mother from a crazed pack mate; she was confused about the pack disbanding and attempting to take it out upon her mother. Pakuna was about a year old then, and had obtained many wounds from fighting off the insane bitch. With a grunt, she blinked, looking at the ground before Volkan.

"Why do ye ask?" She questioned politely, although she most certainly new the answer. If this female wanted to spar, Pakuna would comply only to be polite. Volkan was a rank ahead of her, and she did wish to rise in the ranks...she'd have to fight her eventually. Perhaps getting to know her fighting style now would not hurt. With a yawn, Pakuna shook out her coat, awaiting Volkan's actions and response.

Volkan Aquila

Volkan began settling into her playful stance slowly, surveying Pakuna's expression at the thought of fighting. As somewhat of a scowl crossed the rough-voiced female's face, Volk wondered if she agreed that fightin' be nothin' to be proud of. The thought seemed foreign to her, yet she tried in her own mind to entertain it. On the one hand, she'd seen bad things— atrocities, actually— come from fights between her family members, her father, enemy wolves. To the Aquilas, fighting had been a way of life. Yet there was a part of her that could understand why normal wolves wouldn't jump into battle for trivial reasons.

Pakuna's question warranted only a simple answer from the gray female, who watched her yawn and shake her coat with interest. It seemed to her to be a yes, and a gratified smirk spread across her colorless features. "Why d'ya think?"

In a flash she darted to her right, the lithe muscle beneath her weathered fur finally springing into action after almost a year of unuse. It felt great. Then within a split second she leapt forward, frame outstretched in a low leap, ears flattened against her skull and shoulders hunched against her neck. Her goal was to strike Pakuna's shoulder area from the left side in hopes to knock her off balance. The other female seemed sturdily-built enough, but Volkan wanted to test her balance, not to mention her reflexes.

Pakuna Atea

Pakuna did not want to fight, but it seemed that she had no option. Her paws gripped the earth as she braced herself once Volkan left the ground. Her body made contact with her left side; Pakuna flinched, body teetering before she regained full balance. With a fire lighting within her pale emerald eyes, she turned her body quickly, jaws widening. It was no desire of her fangs to meet the flesh of wolf, but if it would happen, it would be most tender of touch. As she whirled herself to the side of Volkan, she allowed her jaws to come forth toward the base of her neck in attempt to make contact. If there was success with this action, she would bite and shake gently, only to leap away swiftly afterwards.

As Volkan made contact with her, Pakuna could not help but recall the crazed bitch that had tried to attack her mother. It was a true case of fur flying; a loyal daughter risking her own life for her very mother. Although scolded after the defense, Pakuna still secretly vowed to protect her mother for as long as she remained with her. What if she was dead now? She left her so early...

Regret pulled at the brown woman, but there was no time for that. The past was the past- there was nothing you could do to change it now. With the air growing warm around them, Pakuna began to comfort herself with this spar. There was nothing wrong with a little play-fighting, right?
