Mika
Adora sounded… scared? Was that the right word for it? Mika didn’t blame her of course - this conversation was nerve-wracking. But it wasn’t as bad as nearly falling off a cliff, they found.

And maybe this was too fast. Maybe this would all fall apart eventually. Or maybe it wouldn’t. But one thing Mika knew for certain is that a little, cozy place with Adora sounded wonderful to them.

They could see her now, murky through the fog, and their tail started to wag behind them. They dropped the rabbit and bounded the rest of the way forward, trembling a little from excitement and relief and perhaps a little bit of anxiety, but it was far outweighed by the good feelings.

Mika slid to a stop just before they reached her, out of breath and smiling. “I want that, too,” they said, seeking out her gaze. “Nothin’ sounds better, Adora.”

Adora Macieo

The fog had not lightened by the time they reunited.

Admittedly it had felt like a blanket around them, smothered them closer together. Adora had not decided if she wanted to pull Mika closer or if she wanted to linger in her rooted spot. She had felt a million different things before but this had never been one of them.

Then, She exhaled but she forced herself to maintain eye contact. Yellow eyes sought out that yellow-green gaze. She could be brave, if not for herself then for Mika, right? Stay?

Her voice softened into something vulnerable as did the look on her face. They had already been...doing whatever this was, but if they voiced it out loud it was far more real.

Stay?

It wasn’t a command. There was no force behind it. Adora’s face was soft and open as she spoke, and Mika couldn’t take their gaze from hers. It probably should’ve been scarier than it was, this leap they were about to take, but there wasn’t a single ounce of fear in Mika’s body.

“I’ll stay,” they said, and if they were allowed, would stand on tiptoe to press a gentle kiss to Adora’s muzzle. “If you stay, too.”

It felt like, as long as the two of them were together, things would be okay.
