NOKTURN IKONIC
WHITE KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR

The day was just breaking as the sun rose lazily over the mountain peaks. It seemed to be in no hurry, rising up and up into the great blue yonder at its own pace. Although it was still early in the morning, the night's shadows still casting heavily across the land, animals were starting to rise. Included in these animals was the white loner Nokturn. Yawning, he walked outside of his makeshift den at the base of the mountains. He arched his back like a cat before stretching out his legs to relieve himself of sleep's cramps. He had not been in these lands for long. Most of his life he spent wandering here with his brother and sister. Once they got here, however, they all split up, and he hadn't seen them since. I need to find myself a permanent den. He thought to himself, looking back at the small bramble den he called home for now. Looking into the sky, he enjoyed momentarily the way the orange and purple hues blended together in the sky.

Looking around, he decided to hunt for himself. Nokturn was new to these lands, so he hadn't had the pleasure of meeting up with a pack yet, nor any other wolf for that matter. Lifting his snout into the air, he sniffed, trying to locate food. There was lots of prey scent on the air, but nothing that really interested him. A few squirrels, some birds, and maybe a small hare or two. But nothing that would really satisfy him. Looking back up at the mountains, he was impressed by how large they were. Luckily for him on his travel here he didn't need to cross them. Probably would have gotten myself killed in the process. He mused to himself. Turning back away from the mountains, he headed out at a steady trot, nose to the ground a few times to try and pick up an animal scent. As he walked along he smelled many things, but again nothing that really interested him. Once he thought he caught the scent of another wolf, but it was gone almost in the same instance.

After a bit he came across a small brook, so small he could have easily just stepped over it. However, there was still enough water to quench his growing thirst. As the sun rose higher in the sky, it slowly got hotter out. Looking around, Nokturn realized he could smell wolf again, not the same scent, but this time lingering in the air. Taking another deep breath, he smelled a female, but nothing else. Was she nearby, or did she just happen to pass by here? Curious as to what wolves in this area might act like, he took a few steps towards the smell before stopping. Sitting down, he took a breath before speaking. "Hello? Is anyone there?"

Carne Vaedal
Takes place after her acceptance into MP, which is still very fresh to her sooo. Considering we haven't even finished that thread xD haha. oh well.

I apologize for the length too. I tend to ramble..

Carne had made the grandest discovery before the moon had risen to its highest peak last night - one that made her feel thrilled and devious but tranquil all at once. After parting from her newly made rivals, a mental battle struggle that was pregnant with estrogen and attitude, which were, ironically, now her pack mates, the sooty bitch had gone off in search of something to make her place in the pack more concrete. She needed a permanent place to sleep; a den if you will.

It wasn't just any old burrow in the ground or hollowed out hole in the side of a rock that she had found, however. Carne had hit the mother load of all "caves" within only a few hours. The cave part didn't surprise her of course. I mean, hell, she was living on a mountain now. But the extent to which this cave existed was downright fascinating. It took her no time at all the piss at the entrance and mutter allowed: mine.

The cavern, if you will, seemed hardly spectacular from the outside. It was situated adjacent to a sweet little creek, surrounded by layers of rock that squeezed the inky entrance small enough that one might overlook it as barely anything great. Foliage adapted to high elevations grew above and around it some, aiding its protective curtain, none of which had deterred Carne's instinctive and intuitive curiosity. When entered, it appeared cramped, and one almost had to slither around the thick boulders that jutted from the side just to dig deeper into its depths. But after those first two or three initial "gates", there was suddenly a ridiculous amount of space and a rush of cavern breeze to greet a visitor.

It was spectacular really. It seemed almost man made, but the labyrinths were all natural. At least three decent sized "rooms" were immediately noticeable, separated only by a wall of limestone and the columns of stalactites and stalagmites which poked through here and there. It had a slightly downward slope into the mountain and in the back you could hear the trickle of running water - perhaps the source of the creek outside? She had yet to dig further into it's secret depths, expecting a multitude of other treasures, and perhaps even a few backdoor exits as well.

It was perfect for her.

A lair. It wasn't just a den, no. It could easily be described as Carne's secret lair at this point.

She slept like a baby that night, perched upon a raised stone platform like her own personal queen, the light of the moon outside indicating her entrance/exit was not far to her left.

Morning was hard to notice of course, especially if she hadn't had an internal clock system already built in. There was hardly any light that peeped into her cavern and enabled her best vision, and with such blurred sleepy vision, it was only instinct that pulled her in the right direction. She groggily pulled herself toward the exit, pausing only to stretch her body and shiver in the gross cracking noise of her spine as she did, shaking the slumber off soon after.

Her ears twitched. A male's voice had called out suddenly from outside, just the sound she wanted to be greeted with in the morning. She paused and kept to the shadows at first, inhaling deeply to try and catch a whiff of his scent. No such luck. The wind was not blowing in her direction one bit, and she heaved a sigh of frustration. "Well, shiiiiit," she groaned, squeezing out of her lair and bursting suddenly into the bright morning light.

A pale colored wolf lingered just by the creek outside, staring in the direction that her scent was strongest: her piss place of course. Fortunately for him, it was not much of a shift in gazes to also stare at the source of that scent: the brown and dark gray bitch which had now materialized from the mountainside, and none too happy. Now she could taste his scent on the air, and did not recognize him as anything from Midnight Plateau. He was a loner. Interesting.

In reality.. Carne didn't really know how to react. Instinct told her to be dominant, to question hard the intentions of this outsider, and warn him off her alpha's territory. But custom did not warrant this reaction: she herself had been alone for too long. The only thing she really felt any desire to get protective over right now was her "den", but the stranger wasn't getting through her to it anytime soon anyway. She mulled over friendliness, which was usually a faked gesture anyway, only gaining the trust for her own benefit as she lacked (currently) the ability to form true bonds.

In the end, she decided on just.. casual aloofness once more, and responded with nothing but a few, shrug-worthy words, "Nope. Only me." Smile.

NOKTURN IKONIC
WHITE KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR

As Nokturn waited for the female to appear, that is, if she was going to appear, he glanced briefly around his surroundings. He noticed a large cave in front of him hidden by shrubs that he really didn't notice before. With another quick breath he realized that was the source of the scent. Twitching his ears, he caught a faint voice coming from the cave just before a she-wolf emerged. Her dark brown and black pelt blended in with the mouth of the cave, so at first he had a hard time catching sight of her. But when he did he stood up and bowed his head slightly to her, in a kind way, just to acknowledge her presence. "Nope. Only me." He heard her say this time. Nokturn hesitated for a moment, not knowing if he should get closer to speak to her properly. But then again, why did most wolves emerge from a den strong with their scent? Most often if it was their den. So in the end he just sat down again to speak with her.

"Well, honey, it's not 'only you', since you are 'somebody' after all," he replied to her, cocking his head to the left slightly with a smile. Taking another sniff, he realized how... well, stinky he found her smell. It was foreign from the smells he was used to, he supposed, so it would get some getting used to when it came to the wolves around here. "My God, a pretty wolf such as yourself should use some ATTAR so you smell as good as you look," Nokturn joked, suggesting she should use some perfume from flowers on herself. Looking around, he found a much better spot to sit down closer to the creek. Edging over, he sat on the soft pine needles and eventually stretched his legs out in front of him in a laying manner. Nokturn turned to look at her again, in case he had missed anything that she had said. But his mind started to wander slightly over what this area really did look like. Then he wondered if this wolf was a native to these lands or if she was just a foreigner, like him, passing through?

"Don't be a stranger, I don't bite. You need not protect your den against me, if that's what you're worried about. You see anything worth fighting on this body of mine?" he questioned, glancing down at his semi-lanky body. Well, so it wasn't a complete lie of his. He could fight and hold his own against other wolves, but there was nothing for her to fear in him. Not saying she was afraid, of course, but she didn't need to stand in the entrance of her den acting like a soldier. He was in no mood to fight; it was too lovely today to even think of such a thing. It was hot enough as it is, let alone having him running around and wrestling with another wolf to work up even more of a sweat. Wiping the idea from his mind, he turned his attention back to her to hear what her response would be.

ooc :: haha it's fine :) and yay, first word of the day usage!

Attar is actually one of my favorite words, well, a variant of it, Atar, is a name I absolutely ADORE for a wolf character but am trying to find the perfect one to use it on.

Oh and after this rp, and maybe another one or somethin, we should definitely have them accidentally meet up on a full moon.
Brick shitting will be had

"Mmmmmr," she half murmured half purred (murred), her neutral expression remaining the same even as she surveyed the male with haughty indifference. Carne chose not to jump on his first comments, especially since she was almost certain he was throwing her an insult which was glazed with a compliment. Besides the fact that she was too sane not to dismiss his gestures, it was plain to her that she was far from gorgeous anyway. Summer's introduction had left her with an awkward fur coat, which remained pale and shaggy over the majority of her body, while her legs and face thinned out into a cooler and darker texture. It made her look quite rough around the edges and far from her prime. If she ever managed to shake off that extra coating, then perhaps she wouldn't look that bad - an inky black and muddy brown dagger of a wolf.

She sniffed slightly as he spoke, and if she was capable, would have lifted one of her eyebrows so high it might jump off her forehead. She was bemused of course, but it did not change the situation. A few moments later (she kept her distance and merely observed at this point, waiting to pick her counter strike) he continued his friendly invitations, beckoning her to lay down her guard. Carne did not fear the other male one bit and in fact thought to herself it might be smarter if he thought the other way around. How could he be so sure that she wouldn't bite him? And not just over territory either. In any other time or place, the situation would have remained the same. He could very well have been playing with fire.

"..'T'wouldn't be a fight, kid," she drawled, her heavy use of slang and casual tone becoming thick as she spoke, never proper in her speech but always capable of intelligent words. Her signature Cheshire grin spread across her muzzle now, and his perspective on the situation could change the meaning of it entirely. On one hand, he could think she was seceding to him, suggesting she wouldn't fight and throwing a mirthful smile in his direction. But on the other hand, her serpentine voice could be seen as an undercover, dangerous and egotistical threat, while her glimmering grin was just devil's play - incredibly taunting.

"The answer to yer question is no, however. But the big bad boy-a of this mountain might see ya differently. He protects allllllll," she glanced around, gesturing to not only the one mountain, but the range surrounding it, "This." She paused and mulled. "Gotta hand it to 'em. It's a great place," It was one of the first times she thought to admire a land. Suddenly though, she turned back to Nokturne, her demeanor shifting into something more sinister and domineering, "Why're you here?" she growled, though her mind reeled. Why did she care, all of a sudden?
