I'll set this before they rejoin PP so I can get a bit of interaction with him if that's alright. <3

<blockquote>
There she goes. The sun had risen not long ago, but already his mother was leaving him tucked away for the day. It was so tedious. What did she expect him to do exactly? Sleep all day and then sleep all night too? The woman was on crack if she thought her son was going to put up with that. He didn't tell her about his daily outings, heaven forbid he try to amuse himself. He left after she did, and returned just before the sun vanished. Luckily he'd always been back before she had. Maybe it was a sixth sense he had towards her, being her offspring and all, but he always knew when he should venture back to the crevasse, tree, hole or ditch she had left him in.

He didn't mean to be naughty and disobey. He would be crushed to upset his mother. His entire world. But he was a young lad. A lad keen to learn about all the world had to offer him. He had a healthy apatite for knowledge, a trait he didn't know he shared with his estranged father, and he was never satisfied until he knew everything there was to know about something.
Along the way to last nights campsite, he had spotted a felled tree along the way. He had set it upon himself to return to that tree today, for he saw an unusual fungus growing on it's side. It was red and it was massive! It had bold white spots and a funny smell, and he was determined to study it today. So, when the coast had been clear, he had ran the entire way back to the log. It was quite a trek for any pup, even with his long legs, he felt a little tired when he finally did arrive. He had to run, he had to be quick if he was going to fit in some learning today for he had a funny feeling his mother wouldn't be out all day today. Not with that mad black wolf roaming around. Geez, what a creep he had been.

The world around him was strange here, but it was strange wherever they went. He he no roots, no place to call home. He had been roaming with his mother since he could open his eyes and see the world... well, half see it at least. They'd never stayed in the same spot for more then a night, so when the chance to study something new came along, he had to be quick about it.

He didn't grin or feel proud of himself when he had successfully navigated their scents back to the tree. Most pups would feel proud of themselves, but Adonis didn't like himself enough to ever feel proud. He just got here, it was as simple as that. He was far too old for his young, lanky bones.
With his nose to the ground, he followed the scent of the strange mushroom until at last his unnatural blue eyes (or working eye) landed upon the mushroom. It was just as pretty as he remembered and it smelt so strange, more so upclose. He wanted to taste it... but mother had warned him of berries and fungus and she wasn't exactly around to tell him if it was safe to nibble on. Instead, he lowered his rump to the floor and sat gazing at the red thing, until he dared lift a casual paw and bat the thing with a leather pad. It felt squishy yet hard all at once, and it made a funny sound. With a quirk of his brow and a tilt of his head, he lifted his paw again and repeated the process, drumming out the sound into the woods around him.

It was almost... fun. He felt a bubble inside him try to escape, but he didn't know what it was. It climbed up from his chest, reached his lips and released itself into the air as a tiny giggle. Gosh... that was a strange sound indeed. Yet he almost enjoyed it. Almost, because he didn't let himself enjoy things or have fun. With a sigh, he lifted his paw for one last bat, before he should make a move to get back home.</blockquote>

He was getting the hang of this stalking thing. Since his failed attempt at surprising his sister, he had practiced, and practiced. Large paws lifted gingerly off the spongy ground, satellite ears pointed forwards, and ever so slowly, his paw gently touched down in front. Mismatched eyes trained on the small squirrel, darting back and forth beneath the trees, its russet coat blending so well with the autumn leaves that were strewn across the ground. The rustling of the little creature rang clearly in his ears and he knew he would have cross that blanket himself and his cover would be blown.

As soon as he rose from the rushes and reeds, his pale fur would noticeably stick out. No matter how much mud he rolled in or how many twigs and leaves he carried in his coat, he just couldn’t make himself blend in like Renier or Taima, and he was certain that for all his days he would shine like a beacon in the night, scaring off any potential snacks in a heartbeat. If only he knew of snow…

He watched as the squirrel made its way atop a log from which a strange, squishing beat came. Curiosity piqued, he threw caution to the wind and loped forward in a half chase. The squirrel, of course, bolted and the boy followed after in keen pursuit, the scent of its fear and the speed that it ran triggering something primal (even if it was just a game for now). The log was large, but he was growing and although he successfully mounted it, getting down on the other side was a little harder, and his prey was gone.

A heavy sigh left the young boys chest as he turned to seek the source of the squish. Mismatched eyes, one blue and one green, fell on the young dark male in question, his paw prodding at the large mushroom. Head cocked to the side he took in the stranger before him. His scent and his looks. He didn’t smell like anyone but himself and just one female, which was strange… He had strange eyes too… Like Ryvet did.

Still stuck atop the log, his front half inching down, a mischievous glint entered his eyes and a smile lit his face. Oh if only Renier were here… “Heya!” he said as he continued to slide down the side of the rotting log. This was a stranger certainly, but for once it was a stranger his own age. What fun!

<blockquote>This was fun. Adonis' definition of fun perhaps wasn't the normal definition, but he felt like this is what others would call fun. The vibrations from the mushroom cap trembled up his paw with each swat whilst a hollow sound bounced from tree to tree and then back to his silky ears. He liked the sound and the way it felt beneath his paw. It made him smile just a little bit and he needed to smile a lot more often.

He had just lifted his paw, higher then before for the ultimate swat, when a voice rang out behind him. <i>Heya!</i> said a voice, but not an adult voice. Cautiously, he turned his head over his shoulder, trying to make the move fluid and not show how spooked he actually was at the disturbance. After all, he was out here alone, his mother had no idea where he was and if anyone felt like a piece of "pup-corn" well he was certainly a good choice. Luckily however, his good eye landed on a rather vivid coloured pup. His age wasn't far off from his own, but he still kept his guard up.
As the other boy slid down a grubby looking log, he took the chance to stand up and turn to face him fully. As their eyes met, he almost took a step back... his eyes. They were broken. Just like his. Alright so this other lad's eyes worked just fun, but they looked funny and one of them was almost the colour of his own. Perhaps this was one of his long lost siblings he had heard his mother dreaming about? Oh gosh... what should he do?!

<b>"Erm. Hello?"</b> he said, his voice quiet and shy whilst his ears decided to fall flat against his skull and his tail threatened to dissapear beneath his stomach like the wuss he was. Of course he had encountered other wolves, but he had always had his mother with him to keep guard. Meeting someone alone for the first time was a pretty big thing for a pup that had been so sheltered.

He wasn't sure what to do next, so he thought back to the way his mother met wolves. It started out friendly, in the beginning of their journey together, but lately it seemed she just wanted to rip off the heads of anyone she spoke to. He decided that being friendly often had the better outcome, and went with the flow. <b>"I'm Adonis... Who are you?"</b> he said with his voice smooth, his tone much more adult then most pups because he didn't have other pups to learn from. Only this mother... he and her alone in the world. Always, it felt like.</blockquote>

The stranger seemed brave, out here all on his own. But then again, Ryvet was alone too. Perhaps it was meant to be, that the two wandering souls would bump into each other like this, black, and white. Both with eyes that others might consider odd. As the stranger boy really focused on his face, Ryvet’s tail lifted and began to wave about behind him in a friendly, playful wag. This was the first stranger his own age the boy had met and the blue eyes, flecked with gold seemed so lonely.

Surely the boy realised he didn’t have to be lonely?

His white coat was smeared with mud and debris from the log, realisation that his mother would force him to endure yet another bath pushed to the back of his mind for now. Now was for playing. Later was for running away from mum while she tried to make him clean.

The strangers voice was small, as he said hello, only causing the pace of Ryvet’s tail to increase in it’s incessant wave. When he finally introduced himself, Ryvet committed the name to memory, along side the few others that he knew. “I’m Ryvet!” he introduced himself with a large smile and an excited bark. “I’m Ryvet from Grizzly Hollow, and you’re Adonis from...” his tail slowed then for a moment as he stopped to consider whether it really mattered where the boy was from at all. He wasn’t one of his siblings, so he wasn’t annoying.

“Will you be my friend?” he questioned with youthful simplicity. It would be really great to have a friend that wasn’t a part of his family... A friend that wasn’t Renier’s friend, or Taima’s friend, or Calla’s friend as well. Only his. His friend Adonis. It sounded so perfect in the young boy’s mind that he didn’t wait for a response before poking his nose into the boys chest to get a proper whiff of him.

<blockquote>The black boy's nose quivered as the other came forward even closer. His tail was wagging fiercely, and he felt his own twitch in response before it decided to thump on the ground. It was an odd feeling, he never had much of an occasion to wag his tail before, but he liked the feeling as the extra limb danced around on the floor behind him, sweeping at the floor, the tip brushing the grass at his feet.

His voice as like his own. Not as deep as an adults, almost soft to his ears. They had similar proportions, but Adi's legs were perhaps a little longer, but there was no doubt in his mind that perhaps they were around the same age. It was adding to the theory maybe this boy was a sibling? He hoped so... it would be nice to have someone to play with. Rough and tumble with his mother was fine, but she had too much to do these days to have time to roll around and play. He would have enjoyed having a brother to play chase with... so long as they were in an open area, like they were to give him minimal trip risk.

However, his hopes quickly shattered around him as he gave his name and his pack. His mother had never mentioned a wolf from a pack with that name. His tail stopped lashing a moment as he accepted the fact they weren't related. It almost made him more cautious... if there was an adult around watching him, they probably wouldn't appreciate them playing together, or would they? <b>"I don't have a pack right now... but my Ma said I'm the prince of Poison Path."</b> he said proudly with an accept like his father's, drawing out the a's. He had been about to explain more when the other boy's words met his ears.

<i>Would you be my friend?</i>

His head tilted and he met his eyes again, slight confusion flickering on his face. Friend? He had never had a friend before, but from the now frantic lashing of his tail, he felt like he wanted one. <b>"Sure!</b> he said, a little too loudly and too enthusiastically. He would have winced from thinking he made a fool of himself, but he was too excited to care. A friend. Someone to call a friend. That was almost as good as having a brother!

He had been about to say something else, but it sounded dumb in his brain. <i>So what do friends do?</i> No, he needed to play it cool and not chase away his only friend in the whole wide world. Instead he stood there, trying to play cool and not run over to rough and tumble with the white boy like he wanted to.</blockquote>

Poison Path? Sounded dangerous to the pale Lyall but his friend Adonis had said that he didn’t have a pack now. Just his mum. Ryvet took a moment to comprehend a life without his dad or siblings, or Kade or Sibyl or the silly sooty wolf that pretended to play dead and could catch birds right out of the sky... He decided he would be very lonely, and would want a friend to play with... so the boy before him couldn’t possibly say no. Could he? Ryvet would be crestfallen if his first attempt at friendship was quashed so easily.

The darker boys excited response squashed any fears he may have had, a happy yip escaped his maw as he spun in a happy circle. The boy was just standing there, an opportunity the pale son wouldn’t pass up after so recently having his sister pin him to the ground. Without warning he ran past Adonis, quickly turning around to lower his front end down and lift his rear high, tail waving frantically, signaling his intention - his bow an invitation to play. Formalities over with, the boisterous child barreled towards his skinny friend with a giggle, oversized paws flailing across the ground, huge ears catching the wind as he attempted to tackle his new friend, or deliver a few friendly nibbles to his chest or ribs.

I'm going to slightly PP this... because I thought it would be funny. Cue Lion King reference.

A friend. Nothing had ever felt so good! His mother had talked to him about friends. How when he met his brother and sisters they would all be his friends. They would play together, laugh together, hunt together and if his Dad had his way, fight together too. The fantasy had always been present in the back of his mind. A chance to not walk all day long. To run and play and hide and jump and laugh. It all sounded so exciting, something he yearned for the longest time now. So happy was the giddy feeling inside him that he didn't notice the light boy take the chance to run at him. However he did notice when he lowered into a bow, his rear waggling in the air behind him with the biggest grin on his face. Adonis couldn't help but grin back and something inside him, something instinctual told him to copy. So he did; he lowered his chest to the floor in a dramatic sweep, his rear in the air as his tail wagged behind him to and fro with a mind of its own.

Unfortunately, he didn't know what was actually going to happen next. It was one thing to copy, but it was another to predict the future. As the other boy came barreling towards him, he felt a moment of fear, a frantic beating of his heart that caused him to freeze in place. He simply did not know what to expect as Ryvet ran towards him. A bubble of nervous laughter escaped his lips just moments before the stark coloured pup ploughed into him and he felt himself crashing to the floor. It seemed that Ryvet went with him, the two morphed into a ball of fluff and fur that rolled across the grassy clearing. However, when the motion had stopped, Adonis found himself standing upon Ryvet, the white pups back to the floor whilst his large black paws seemed to be pinning him to the floor. He couldn't help the grin that spread across his face as he registered the others look and just how good it felt to rough and tumble! Without wasting any time, he lowered his head and tried to nipple Ryvet's paws, as gently as he would dare muster, like his mother sometimes did to him. All the way a soft giggle echoed from his lips into the empty clearing around them.

Short old post is short and old. One more each and then we can archive <3

Typical. He was on his back again. It seemed scuffling would never be a strength of the pale coated Hollow pup. His own giggle sounded in response to Adonis’s as he pulled his paws back from the tickling gnaw of his new friend and attempted to shove him off. He reached up with open jaws to mouth at the darker wolfs muzzle as he continued to squirm beneath him in an attempt to get free.

Finally somewhere amongst the wiggling and worming, the pale pup managed to break free and once he had his feet back beneath him, he nipped playfully at the other boys shoulder, urging him to race with him. He was faster than his sister but he had the feeling this boy would be faster still. It would be nice to face a challenge for a change.

carry on, oh, little lonely prince

It was a strange sensation, being tugged, nipped and kicked yet none of it hurt - his friend was as gentle as he was. If anything, it was an exciting exchange of blows, wonder who would hit what and where. With the pale wolf beneath him, he believed he had won the fight and beamed with pride - but that smirk was quickly wiped from his face as he took a foot to the gut and went flying onto his side, allowing enough time for the other boy to find his feet.

He followed, pulling up onto his long legs and took the nip with a grin, one of challenge with a friendly air, knowing just what the boy meant and with an eager nod be lowered himself, poised and ready to spring into the race... A race that would never happen. No sooner had he been about to shout the words go, did the faint trace of his mothers scent hit him in the face. Oh no,she was coming back and he was not where she left him. Panic set in at the thought of her scorning him, but also at the thought of leaving his new, no, his only friend. "I... I've got to go. I'm sorry." He muttered, the look of hurt on his face as his ears lowered. He gave a final nudge to the white boys side and turned tailed, running as quickly as he could back to where she would find him.

He watched with a heavy heart as his new friend turned on his tail and fled. Cautiously his own head tipped to the sky as he realised just how much time had passed and how much trouble he too, would be in if his parents found him missing. With all the graceful haste a pup with snowshoes for paws could muster he hollered a Goodbye to the retreating dark pup and turned to make his own way home.
