Athena Moon
Her question hung in the air for several moments. Ash arrived, taking up a place behind Bella, hovering over her, silently protecting her. However, as much as she appreciated it, his protection wouldn’t necessarily be needed. From what she has observed, this boy meant no harm and she prayed it would stay that way. Her fiery eyes flickered over to gaze at her Bella, a smile forming on her ebony lips. Curious and innocent, but naïve. Athena just had to hope Bella won’t run off again, when another stranger calls for her. Next time, she might not be able to be protected.

Once Rais responded, her attention was directed once again to the business at hand. She hadn’t expected his answer to be extravagant and convincing, since he was so young, but he did show potential. Poison Path hasn’t had a tracker as of yet and perhaps he could be the first. “Very well, young Rais, you will work to become a tracker for us. I’m sure your skills will be of use to Poison Path,” she said before stepping forwards to finish the acceptance ritual.

Gripping his muzzle with her own, only applying a moderate amount of pressure, she accepted the young man into Poison Path. Stepping back, she looked back towards the other two adult members. “Will one of you show him around?” Her fiery eyes directed back towards Bella, “You and I need to talk.” In order for her to stay safe, the young girl needed to know that she couldn’t do this without the protection of another. It was too dangerous for her to be alone. With that, she began to make her way back towards the lake, only pausing to wait for Bella to follow her.

The small nudge to his cheek made some of the tension he had been feeling leak out from his body and he promptly licked Naira’s cheek while keeping his eyes on the sneaky male. He listened on with patience, his green eyes observing the young fellow in front of him. Last time they had met had been in the pretty Fireweed area just bellow the mountains, and now he was in his territory. According to Athena he would be welcomed in as family. The word felt weird in his mind when he thought of this male…just didn’t set right. His eyes were cold as the process began and after it was done with, Ash nodded his head the boy, his ears flicking when Athena spoke to them. Dipping his head briefly he leaned down to give Bella a lick to the head before mentioning for Rais.

His paws moved easily over the ground as he called for the male, “Come on then, Rais.” His tail flicked behind him and he started on into the territory, leaving it up the Naira if she wanted to accompany them or not. The Hervok would make sure that he kept an eye on the boy, just like he did to all new recruits and would report back to Athena, as usual. His tail swayed behind him, as he did a sweep of the territory he knew so well.

Not much of a fighter, no, far too small for that. But she wasn't overly interested in what the boy had to say, now that she could see with her own eyes that Belladonna was safe. The young girls rolling eyes did not go unnoticed by the former leader and for just a moment, she allowed their eyes to meet, to match it with a ghost of a smile and a small, conspiratorial roll of her own. Men it seemed, were not something her daughter would have any ease in shrugging off, forever out to protect her. If her parents had remained, by now they would be sure that the young girl was more than capable of standing up for herself, but she just couldn't see the pack she was a part of now factoring something so regimented into the pups lessons... If they had been receiving lessons at all.

It was Athena's words to Naira's daughter that put her on edge, she barely resisted the urge to curl back her lip and blatantly growl at the leader. Was she going to lecture her daughter about being helpless and needing someone around to protect her always? She was a wolf, not a princess, descended from strong packs who were no strangers to battle. It irked her that the other wolf felt she had the right to say such things to her child...

But Athena had been there when Naira had not. And there was nothing she could do about it.

Thankfully it was Ash who stepped forwards to show the lad around. Naira would make her introductions later. For now, she needed to blow off some steam.

He couldn't help the small smile that broke out over his face, the tension seeming to melt away with Athena's words. He'd done it, and there was no regret to his decision. Not yet, at least, as it was a guarantee of his survival over the winter. He wasn't too keen on the word work, but if a bit of work meant that he wouldn't starve to death and turn into a wolf-sicle in the freezer of Relic Lore's winter, he was fine with that.

He stiffened again, held carefully still as she completed the ritual. He resisted the urge to duck out of the way when her jaws clamped over his muzzle, and let his ears fold back in submission. She'd moved away and her request for someone to give him a tour was answered by Ash. Rais really would have preferred to explore the place on his own, but he held his disappointment back. He could see that Ash didn't look entirely thrilled about it either. It wasn't wise to burn bridges, and Rais didn't need to add any fuel to the tensions already held towards him, so he'd just go along with it. Perhaps he could work on making more friends, rather than enemies. With a thankful smile and wag of his tail to all assembled, Rais trotted after the male.
