Callin' you out! <3

To see her now, you would not recognise her as the battered bag of bones that was dragged before the pack meeting a little over a month ago. The haunted look was mostly gone from her golden eyes and not the outline of a single rib was visible beneath the pounds she had regained in muscle nor the quickly thickening lustrous coat that now replaced the dull and dusty patchwork quilt she had been wearing. The former lady of the Lake was back, and she would no longer crawl on her belly or bear the scornful looks of her pack mates. She would no longer flinch away from their glances or distance herself from her children. This was her home, her pack and she was not going anywhere in a hurry.

Winter was coming, and she had no desire to roll over in the snow to those who were beneath her in all but rank. Her time in the wilds had not only enforced her stubbourn streak, but it had taught her the importance of greed. Unless she looked out for herself and her son, and only herself and her son, then they would never have made it back, and as much as the wolf she was would never do such a thing, the time had come. She was sick of waiting for Athena to change her mind about her. She was going to show what she was made of.

If it came to that.

She had picked her ground well. The flat expanse before the lake was littered with smaller stones, but nothing large enough to cause a severe injury. She hoped beyond hope that this challenge would not result in a fight. The last thing she wanted to do was injure the delicate caring girl. It would not take much for it to be avoided all together, but you never could be sure.

As the sun began it's slow descent over the earth, the tawny woman tilted her head to the sky and called forth Chantille, and Chantille only. It was high past time this was over with.

The light-furred wolf plodded along on a daily patrol. Indeed, she was a healer, but she enjoyed walking the borders of the pack lands. Her tail swayed gently as she went along; her chocolate eyes aglow. It seemed the pack was settling back down once more. Chantille hoped that poor Athena and Ava would be okay. She kept her eyes peeled for Rhysis at all times.

A breeze blew through her thick coat, and pausing, she lifted her muzzle. Nostrils widened as she took in the crisp air. Winter was well on its way. With a flick of her ears, she then cocked her head as a howl pierced through skies. Huffing, she loped down the small pile of rocks she was upon. Landing gently upon the grass, she neared the call. Naira came into view. Was she injured?

It did not seem that way. What was it the ex-leadess wanted? Approaching, Chantille gazed at Naira "Yes?" her sweet voice questioned.

She did not sit while she waited for the pale woman to arrive, she needed to be limber, just in case. So she paced, back and forth, back and forth, wearing a track into the browning grass beneath her paws. It wouldn’t be long now before the snow crept down from the mountain peak to blanket the ground and add a thin film of ice to the lake that was their life’s blood, as isolated as they were. It was the water their prey would come to seek. It was the only thing that would get them through the winter.

Finally, the smaller woman came. At her approach, the tawny wolf’s tail inched higher, her ears shot forward and she met the other woman’s chocolate eyes directly. Pushing, testing. Her voice was like a song, which she did not flinch away from. She would not back down from this dance. There was only one acceptable outcome today and she would push as hard as was needed to achieve her goal.

Although she had gained her words back slowly, there were times when she felt they weren’t necessary, and as much as her instinct screamed that this was not a time for idle banter, she owed this woman much. She continued to pace as she watched the other wolf closely, for any sign of a challenge to her dominant stance. “You know what this is about… friend. she finally answered smoothly, the last word almost a plea. She had made the call, issued the challenge. It was up to the other woman now, to accept it, or stand down.

Chantille stood as solid as a stone statue. Her eyes grew hard and cold; their milk chocolate glow gone within a moment. You know what this is about... friend. Feeling her eye twitch now, the kind hearted one felt her sympathy slip away. Challenging her? Was she really going to challenge her? The one who stayed with Athena and Ava as they nearly fell apart; there to heal the wounds and hearts of her brethren. Kneading a cold rock under her paws, Chantille tilted her head forward. Eyes gazing up at Naira, her nostrils widened. "I do suppose, Naira."

With this sentence, she flashed a heated look at the low ranking wolf before stepping away from her. She took a few lengths away from her; she observed in silence. The air seemed to grow cold around her, as if her body has sucked in all the heat. The heat became a fire in her instantly, one that burned through her chest. She felt as if her fur was to burst into flame, leaving her with nothing but her flesh.

As she came to a halt, she breathed in, holding the breath as she did so. Her tail raised upward, paws tightening on the rocks below.

Her eyes searched. Almost pleading the other woman to just walk away. It wouldn't have to come to bloodshed if she would just cede. But she watched as the pale wolf's expression hardened as her tail rose, and she couldn't suppress the flutter of excitement, nor the minutest grin from passing her face as her chin tucked to protect her delicate throat. She did not break eye contact, nor did her ears lay back. She stood tall, and proud as she danced forwards with a growl of warning. It's not to late to back down. She knew it was a lie.

Every fight she had ever been in was floating in her memory in full colour. Every scar a reminder of a mistake not to be made again. The other wolf was faster, but she knew that she was stronger, and could probably outlast the fae if she could drag this on for long enough... but she had never been a huge fan of defense. She refused to stand still, her fathers words echoing in her head. Deny your opponent an obvious target. All the while she was searching for an opening, a target, soft flesh to clamp strong jaws into, and shake. Shake the pale one into submission. She was quickly regressing, any hint of who she was fading from soft golden eyes and leaving them burning like embers. Again, there were no words, no friends. Just her, and one who stood in her way.

She charged forwards, teeth savagely aiming for a shoulder or a flank. There was no emotion to her attack, merely instinct. This was not personal anymore, this was survival.

He long knew it was not any of his business to heed the call offered out my Naira. The brown male knew who she was calling for and even though it was just for that specific wolf Ash continued on with his duties. His body would walk along the borders, stopping to mark them every once and awhile. Everything seemed to be according to his own schedule. . .until he heard scrambling. Ash’s ears pricked high and his muscular shoulders pushed him forward. What had been going on?

Though, on the inside, Ash knew what had been happening the whole time. Naira had bee calling for a challenge, and Ash should have showed up first thing. His massive head jarred forward as his eyes took in the scene before him. The former Poison Path leader diving towards the younger healer. The brown wolf stared at the two, anger rising in the pit within his stomach. He remained rooted though, his green eyes blazing in fury as he watched what played before him. He knew he was not allowed to interfere.

Please. You've likely underestimated me like the others have.

Not just a healer, but a hidden warrior. Time seemed to freeze as Naira spun away from the place she once stood. It appeared that she ran at her in slow motion- at least, in Chantille's mind, she did. The dark-eyed wolf watched, a scowl upon her face as the ex-leadess dashed toward her. The wolf's fangs were bared; she wanted to feel the flesh of her opponent. With her eyes flickering, Chantille felt the needle-like teeth meet her shoulder.

It was a tearing sensation; it stung. Allow the adrenaline to flow. Taking in a deep breath, her head tucked down as to protect her neck when Naira struck. The healer released a hasty snarl, suddenly jerking her head to the side. Her paws dug into the soil and pebbles beneath her as she took the blow. The warmth of her blood began to stain her creamy, thick coat. With the look of the devil in her eyes, the once patient and kind healer entered a stage of blood fury.

Opening her own jaws now, she went to curl her neck above the head of Naira. If successful, the woman would bite at the back of her neck, at the base of her head behind her ears. The sting of the wound faded as she snapped; her frontal half shrugging as to protect her own neck as she moved quickly.

She had always liked the woman before her, she had always thought there was something more. But the Naira that took emotions, loyalties and consequences beyond mere survival into count was buried deeply, happily snoozing in the subconscious of this large, efficient killer. Far happier to be informed of the outcome at a later time, as it would only cause her stress right now. Her pack mates had never seen the beast that danced before them now, she had always tried to be patient and kind with them. Only Rhysis had seen even a hint of her temper.

Deep satisfaction coursed through her body as she tasted the tang of blood on her tongue. The other wolf spun, clamping her jaws around Naira's crown and pure joy coursed through her veins. Adrenaline. It had been too long. She gathered her muscles, happy to maintain her vice like grip on the fleshy shoulder of the white wolf and she pushed forwards on the rocky terrain, forcing down the sting of the cut that had opened over her temple. She needed to knock the girl off her feet.

Something told her, her next idea wasn't quite so wise with jaws clamped about her head but she forced it down. Still shoving the girl in the flank, she clamped her eyes shut and shook, alternating between pushing and pulling. She felt another gash open up so very close to her eye, and she dared to open them with her final shove, hoping to either knock the girl off her feet, or tear the flesh free that she had been worrying for far longer than was necessary.

The large guardian watched the clashing wolves, his anger starting to boil within him. The snap of fangs floated to his ears, the uprising snarls echoing throughout the forest, and the smell of blood tainting his every inhale. His green eyes watched as Naira went for the throat. Ash’s own head lifted, his tail raising and lips sliding back to expose his fangs. If the ex-alpha did not let go soon, it would heavily injure Chantille and that would be too much of a risk. After several moments passed and Naira’s grip remained the same, if not tightening slightly, her shakes increasing. Every impulse in him was telling him not to intervene. He knew he could get in deep trouble if he would do so. . .Athena would understand though. Fuck this shit.

Ash’s paws darted forward an enormous snarl emitted from his muzzle, "That‘s enough!" His jaws then opened as he snapped at Naira, aiming to grab her scruff with his iron grip. If this would appear to work, her would then attempt to tightening his grip and slam her into the ground, as if ordering her to submit to him. The challenge seemed to have gotten too personal, he knew it was all about survival, but pack mates were not in the pack to kill one another. Simply challenge their way up, Naira had gone too far.

OOC: There ya go, be! <3 Ash interfering.

Athena Moon
It had been a while since Naira and Adonis first arrived, about a month or so. Nothing unexpected had happened since then. No Rhysis. No fighting. All was well – for the time being at least. Athena had taken the trip up the mountain towards her little sanctuary to watch the sunset that evening. She could feel winter coming, the days were getting increasingly colder and the nights even more frigid. Her thick Artic coat took the changing seasons in stride, easily shielding her for the upcoming weather. This would be Poison Path’s first winter and hopefully not their last either.

As she lay peacefully on the cold boulder, waiting for the sun to change the horizon before her, an unexpected howl rang out across the land. It was a call for Chantille, the pack’s loyal healer. Athena was rather fond of the creamy woman and when she recognized the voice behind it, her brow crinkled in confusion. She wasn’t sure what Naira wanted the gentle lady for, so abandoning the sunset for another day; she headed back towards the Lake.

When she finally arrived, she never would have expected the scene that was playing out before her. The sounds of fighting and the smell of metallic blood hung in air as she took what look like a rank challenge. Ash, her faithful guarding, stood attentive a little ways away from the hostile situation. However, it wasn’t long after that Ash dived in after the two women, adding himself within the turmoil. The Leader closed the distance between the fight and her, stopping a few lengths away from everyone. “What the hell is going on?” She demanded, her body taking in a dominant stance as she began to approach. She wasn’t about to let her pack members dismember their own pack mates before the winter season.
