After hours of shouldering through various vines and frost-covered thicket, Miles breathed a sigh of relief as he finally emerged from the tangled mess of branches and was met with the most beautiful sight he had ever seen - a clear blue midday sky. He had only yesterday stumbled upon that strange, crowded thicket with hushed bird chatter and an almost eerie sense of calm blanketing over the area; yet he was glad to finally be out of it. However, he had collected his fair share of stray twigs and feathers, trinkets his tousled fur decided to pick up while he continued along his trek deeper into this foreign forest. Looking like a complete rookie to the ways of loner life (but who could blame him, he had only been at this for a month), the boy slowly ascended a small incline to get a better look at the area he had wandered in to.

Oh, and what a glorious sight! Rolling fields of deliciously sparkling snow, dotted with various bushes containing who knew what wondrous fruits. Miles felt his mouth water a little. After days of wandering a seemingly barren landscape, estranged from the only family he knew, this slice of paradise was exactly that - paradise. The boy, excited as he was, was not without caution, though, and he carefully made his way down the hill and towards a nearby berry bush, gaze swooping the area. He hadn't picked up a pack's scent anywhere but it was alien territory, after all, and perhaps another wolf had already claimed this patch of land. Nevertheless, Miles' stomach rumbled in anticipation and he quickly loped over to the bush, keeping low to the ground and eyeing off the glimmering blackberries.

Liran Lael
The cold winds that came rolling loose of the timberline had finally stopped bothering Liran. She wasn't sure if it was because they had stopped buffeting her or she had gotten used to it, but was nevertheless pleased to be bathed in sunlight for a change. Now the only primary thing of concern was steering clear of the brambles, or at least the ones that even in the winter still retained their sharp thorns. This was a task easily done, at least when she kept paying attention. But there were moments when she lost that attention span, distracted by the fauna that would dart from the flora, and so then on more than one occasion she had quite literally stabbed herself by accident. A kick too high near a plain scrub there, a turn too sharp over there in which led her to step on another.
Eventually though she had gotten the swing of things though, and the presentation of prickling pain had disappeared altogether. Though her feet still smarted, Liran persisted on alone, surprised that she hadn't encountered anyone. But the meadow was broad, and though she did follow the tracks of others, she also supposed it would be a matter of time before she actually did encounter someone. Or it would it be someone else who encountered her first? The notion had crossed her thoughts a few times, and she only hoped if someone did come across her that they'd at least be nice. If not nice, then maybe something that wasn't mean. She could live with that.
