Rais Rose
A few more of the pack trickled in, and some who had been there on the venture to the new territory were absent now. Rais couldn't really be bothered by their disappearance, hell, he'd just up and left his birth pack in a similar, unannounced fashion. Rais raised his brows in an amused expression as the Datura nearly backed into him, and further grinned when the kid politely apologized. "Name's Rais," He said quickly to the kid, a tip of his silvery head motioning him to go ahead and sit. The ground gave one last jiggle, and Rais glanced around uneasily, making sure there were no close ledges for him to go tumbling down again.

Rais wasn't sure what he'd been expecting. Maybe a party, food or something, but all he heard was rules, rules, and more rules. Rais did pay attention when his name was mentioned, where Naira had assigned him a reasonable task; obtaining sustenance wasn't anything he didn't do on his own anyways, and it would probably give him some leeway as far as travel. He accepted the job with an obedient nod. After that though, he more or less tuned out the droning of the leaders. Really, it was all standard fare, loyalty and secrecy and all the other things that made a pack run. They were things he'd follow, but perhaps not to a T... He didn't need to sell his soul to the place.

Rais tuned back in when the old guy mentioned something about a dead coyote. Usually in Rais' book, dead meant edible, but in this case it seemed like it was more of a creature he'd want to steer clear of. He wasn't familiar with rabies, or what any of it entailed, but the grave tone Mapplethorpe spoke in made Rais take note of what he said.

Sagacity
Sagacity chose to lie low until the rest of her packmates arrived and she was somewhat surprised to see how few there were. It would be pointed out later by the velvety tones of her paramour that there were several others who were due to arrive who hadn't. She took their absence to mean expulsion from the pack and made a mental note- never, ever miss a pack meeting. She wouldn't- she did not want to be kicked from this place, even though she had only just joined.

Her eyes lifted when Mapplethorpe arrived and she felt reassured by his presence. As she had yet to meet the other wolves of the pack, he stood out as her main ally, apart from Rhysis, though her relationship with the silver-dusted black male was so completely different from her relationship with Mapplethorpe that she thought of the two in completely different ways. She felt relaxed and comfortable around Mapplethorpe, whereas Rhysis' presence set her senses tingling, as though a very cool flame was licking at her dark skin. Her tail twitched faintly when she glanced to Mapplethorpe, the tip waving slightly from side to side to show that she was pleased to see him, without making any grand gestures.

She recognized the scent of the next wolf to come before she was even able to see him. She did quite well not to show any reaction, though her heartbeat began to accelerate and her nerves tingled. In the presence of his mate, Sagacity knew much better than to show any sign of knowing Rhysis beyond that of one who'd been accepted into the pack by the tall, lean male. So when he appeared she glanced over and touched her chin to her forepaws to show her respect as she lay on the ground. Her gaze did not linger upon him, as she wished to appear as someone who respected and feared the alpha, not as one who lusted for him.

But it was difficult. She watched him with her peripheral vision and could catch the flash of silverish blue eyes on several occasions...He kept looking at her. She did not look directly back at him, as it would have been terribly disrespectful for her to do so to an alpha...And she forbade herself from becoming anything different when in the presence of his mate. Still, his presence and the way he glanced at her every now and again captured her attention completely, though she stared directly ahead. She watched him from the corner of her eye and felt her stomach grow warm whenever his silverish eyes glanced in her direction. And every time he looked away, she willed him to look upon her again.

So distracted was she by this that she was somewhat surprised when Naira spoke. Her words were immediately followed by a soft rumble from the mountain which caused Sagacity to curl her toes slightly. The alpha female then set about delivering names to Sagacity's attentive ears and roles to those who were present at the meeting. Her eyes flashed to the wolves whose names were mentioned- Tenzin, Rais. There were two young males which Sagacity soon learned were the children of Rhysis and Naira. The realization hit her as though a stone had somehow manifested itself in her stomach. She knew it shouldn't have surprised her. But the thought of Rhysis and Naira having another litteer this year- as they likely would- made her feel slightly ill.

But the sound of her name coming from Rhysis' lips almost as soon as Naira requested that he speak brought warmth back to her being. He still thought of her- she took this as proof. She looked first to Rhysis, when her name was mentioned, and then a fleeting glance went to Naira, which was accompanied by a reverent dip of her head. Having told him that she would become whatever he needed, she agreed without hesitation to become a patroller. It would mean that she would be free to roam, and, perhaps- and she thought this without an ounce of shame- have time alone away from the pack with Rhysis, should he ever choose to check up on her while she was out on patrol. Girlishly, she wondered if he'd planned for this...And she hoped to find out. A firm nod was given to show her willingness to fulfill this position; she was almost dying to begin. She would make sure to do well-- Rhysis would have no need to {word}recant{word} his statement.

Though Sagacity had no ill feelings toward wolves in other packs, she did not feel any need to socialize with them and was actually somewhat pleased to hear that they had no allies. Therefore, she could be as cold toward non-Pass wolves as she wanted to be. She felt relieved. She also felt empowered, knowing that she wouldn't be discouraged from sending other wolves on their way, should they get too curious. She waited, quiet and calm, while Rhysis finished speaking and others spoke up. Her eyes lifted when Mapplethorpe spoke and she nodded calmly when he spoke, finding herself even more calmed by his level-headed ways. She knew of the plague, and knew enough not to touch anyone who was possessed by it.

Tenzin Laylani
The response to his subordination was an affectionate brush to the cheek. He knew that it was for helping her at the borders. Minutes after Tenzin settled in at the frontward rim of the crowd, a golden boy wandered into the meeting just before the queen boomed her wishes into the air. He seemed to turn whisper something to Rais, and the small, good-mannered wolf replied with something that he could not make out from lips. But Ten's attention was forcefully pulled to Naira, and he tuned in to her words as quickly as possible. He did not want to miss a single thing when she spoke. She always told the pack about the most important things. It was hard to avoid her words, and he found it hard to look away. He probably couldn't ignore her if he tried.

Just milliseconds into the announcements, the pass queen reported that there was an avalanche on the mountain. It made his skin crawl. Where was he at that time? His pack was in need, and what was he doing? Hanging around the woods? The emotions he felt were indescribable, but he forced his temper down for the time being. Then the meeting focused on his border encounter with the girl. He nodded in agreement as she went over the rules again. Finally, her words drew to an end on that subject with Tenzin's new duty-lead or first guardian. Proudly, Tenzin smirked as if accepting his new job to the pack.
After Rais and Mapplethorpe's duties were explained, Rhysis was to take the stand. And so he did, appointing the children to scout out escape roots from the Pass in case of an emergency. Lastly, Sagacity was introduced. She was given the assignment of scouting the territory. The laws after that droned on, but Tenzin listened carefully and absorbed it like a sponge. His face was stone except for the occasional blink of understanding to the leaders. Mapplethorpe brought up the subject of rabies, forcing Tenzin's fur to rise. He disliked the word, bitterly stinging his rough pink tongue. His lips drew back in a slight growl, but the sound in his throat trailed off.

Although the words in the meeting were drawing to an end, he felt as if the journey was just beginning, and he was right.

Adonis Aquila
As ever the dark boy waited silently observing. He listened well to his mothers instructions and with reluctance tuned into the dark male who's looks he shared an uncanny resembelance with... except for their eyes, the dark male had dull grey eyes whilst he had ice blue. He had yet to discover the truth that the lead male before him was in fact his father, but for now he was content to just have his mother and despite the love/hate relationship they had, he was also grateful for Datura who he sat alongside. At a respectable distance of course.

His attention peaked when he and his sibling were addressed and he narrowed a brow in speculation at the task they were to be given. He expected it to be dull and boring, but getting to explore the caves might actually pretty fun... especially if he was working with the golden boy, he reckoned he might have some fun in scaring the living daylights out of his older brother and he tried his best to hide a smirk at the thought. "Okay, we won't let you down." he said, speaking up for himself and his brother, despite very well knowing his brother would rather answer for himself.

The topic of conversation shifted to Mapplethrope then and at the mention of the sick animal he felt himself shrink a little. It didn't sound like something he wanted to encounter, but at the same time he was intreguied by the story. He had never heard of rabies, but it sounded like getting bitten by a crazy animal wasn't really much fun... still, it sounded like a good oppertunity to story something new. He tucked the snippet into the back of his mind for later use. Of course, he would proceed with caution, he always did, but he couldn't deny the little shimmer of excitement into bumping into something dangerous and giving him a chance to prove himself to the world.

Naira Tainn
Ok guys, wrapping it up here! Go claim your RE and Pack Event LP!

She allowed Rhysis to deal with the formalities of laying down the law. She was beginning to realise she needed to treat their leadership more like a partnership - like they had been before. She wasn’t alone anymore, it was just taking her a little longer to adjust to than she had initially thought it would. Still she waited patiently while he said his words, pleased he had thought of a task for the boys along with those for the adults she had missed.

Next Mapplethorpe spoke and the hairs on her neck stood on end knowing the meaning of his findings. A low growl worked it’s way from her chest in worry as the memories flooded back to her. "“If this rabies is the sickness I think it is, we must be very cautious." It had never held a name where she was born but the danger was well known. "It won’t just affect coyotes. Foxes, raccoons, perhaps even smaller animals like porcupines.” It was imperative that everyone know the consequences if they were to be bitten. “Let’s just hope it didn’t bite a sleeping bear before it died." she finished darkly.

"Any loners of questionable mental stability should be treated with the highest caution and turned from our borders, especially those with wounds - fresh or festering. Look for those with foam about their muzzle and avoid them at all costs - if they are close, call, and we will deal with them together. If you find yourself bitten by one with this sickness it is best you remove yourself from the pack, lest I find the need to remove you myself in a more permanent fashion." It was a dire warning. Her own uncle had been cast from her pack for saving hers and her sisters life. Her grandmother had not taken any chances and it was the only thing that had saved them. She would take none either.

With her final words she paused to see if any would raise more questions before turning to nudge at Rhysis, hoping her message was clear. Two of their number were missing, and with the recent quake there was a very real chance it was not by choice. She would leave the others to disperse or converse as they wished. She had a job to do.
