We have enough wolves to take something big!
Sorry for the short start post but I have class in another thirty minutes.

Simaea had joined her. She would become this packs healer after she met with her brother Hollow to whom they were all traveling to. Then the silvery she wolf finally got to meet Keith. She was glad to see an older male joining them for he would most likely become an adviser to herself once the pack was started. Nari would not deny that she was young, but instead would ask the older members of the pack whenever she had a problem. Then there was Sloane, the big mass of russet wolf padding usually beside or just ahead of her. Lately it was harder and harder to concentrate with him nearby. She could hardly resist his touch which surprised her. Especially since these feelings had not been as strong a few months before.

Even with her little nucleus of a pack surrounding her Narimé still had to think of food. Not only for herself now though. She had been one of the best hunters in Willow Ridge, and now was the time to test out those skills with a pack of wolves she was only just getting to know well. The good thing was she didn't have to go after rabbits anymore. The pack could take on larger prey.

And what luck. She could scent multiple deer just less than a mile ahead. The herd must be by the falls for a midday drink.. She signaled to Sloane and the others that prey was nearby and began to lope towards the falls. Another scent tinged the breeze as well. A scent that she might be able to welcome. If the lone wolf she smelled might help them with the hunt.

"Anyone for some fresh deer?" She barked over her back while licking her lips. A deer did sound very good right now.

Slight PPing of Sloane, Narimé and Simaea. Tell me if you want it changed.

It was a neutral day, not too hot nor cold. The sun was peeking behind white, fluffy clouds and weak breezes tugged at the wolves' fur. Kieth lifted his grey muzzle in the air and scented deer not too far away. He turned to look at his three other pack mates, or soon to be, anyway. There was the large russet wolf, Sloane, who had been the first of the three he had met. They had travelled from the Ghastly Woods all the way to the Drooping Willows together, and then split up briefly so that Sloane could meet up with his mate, Narimé. Kieth's pale grey gaze flitted briefly to Narimé, who was travelling next to Sloane. Her coat was multiple shades of grey, darker at the upper half and lighter at the bottom half, making it seem as if her fur was a silvery colour. Finally, his gaze rested on Simaea. The black yearling was travelling just ahead of him, for the dark grey male chose to travel behind the others. He had met Simaea less than a day ago, and noted that she was excited that they were going to fetch Hollow. He felt a smile tug at his lips, and didn't stop it from showing. The black fae seemed shy at first, but then showed her inner strength when she stood up to her full height and spoke to Sloane and Narimé. He hadn't seen many fae's do that in the face of large males.

A movement from Narimé caught his attention and he shifted his gaze back to the silver wolf. She signaled to them that prey was near and broke into a lope. He changed his stride to match the others, but stayed at the back of the group. There was a few minutes of silence, or so it seemed to the dark grey male, before another scent infiltrated his sensitive black nose. It was unfamiliar, and he could tell immediately that it was a wolf. The wolf didn't seem too far away, maybe it was hunting deer, like them. Maybe it could help them hunt the deer, and possibly gain a place in the fledgling pack. He heard Narimé speak, and flicked his ears in the silver wolf's direction to hear the words clearly.

You bet, Kieth thought. The dark grey male salivated slightly at the thought of deer, for he hadn't tasted it in what seemed like years, and had almost forgotten what it tasted like. He licked his lips, for it certainly sounded like a very good meal right now. Looking at his three other soon to be pack mates, Kieth realized that he was lagging behind and picked up the pace. He Inhaled deeply, and knew that they were very close to the source of the deer, and the other wolf.

Simaea Nite
Simaea ran along side but slightly behind the two wolves she had decided would be her alphas. There pace was steady since they had left the cavern. She had not spoken since they left, her mind was alight with thoughts of having a family once again, and being reunited with her only surviving blood relative, at least the one she knew. She was certainly happier now that she had some to call "friend" traveling with her. The silence was broken by the question from Narime, and instantaneously her response came,"Yes please Narime!" Her eyes grew intense with the prospect of something large to eat. Plus she had only tasted deer a few times in her short life.

Her nose picked up the same scent the others had, wolf the deer was still around and the prospect of another could either be threat or help. However for once she was not petrified by fear for she had strong wolves around her, the slight malnutrition of her life as a loner would matter little for this in particular hunt. Even if the other wolf turned out to be a threat it would not be hindrance there either, for they were all much stronger than she, and by the way Narime and Sloane held themselves. By the way they spoke to her, she felt no harm would befall her. Simaea scented the air and fixed her intense gaze upon both Sloane and Narime awaiting signal. The eyes reflected her excitement and determination, more like her brothers than she ever could imagine did her eyes give way to her feelings.

The group was now filled with excitement. Their new family was slowly coming together and it seemed that they now numbered four. Not a large pack, but being small in number, at least for now, would permit them to bond tightly and learn to work together that much easier. They would all learn to pick up on each others habits and signals. Small actions like his mate suddenly sniffing the gentle breeze and perking up with interest.

Keying in on her focus, he to scented the deer... and the stranger. His hackles raised slightly at the thought of a stranger lurking in the shadows out there somewhere. However, he reminded himself that although a stranger might mean danger, they might also mean a potential pack mate. The thought calmed his mind somewhat, but his hackles didn't lower even a tiny bit. Narime' was his mate and he already considered himself responsible for the other two wolves that stood by them. He was their protector, plain and simple.

When Narime' asked if they were up for some deer, his belly rumbled embarrassingly. It seemed that his hunger never remained sated for long... part of the downfall of being a beast such as himself. The other two seemed to jump on the idea and he gave a brisk nod to the affirmative, following close by her side as she led them to the hunt. His Blue Eyes was in her element in the hunt and he thrilled to see her taking charge. He hadn't a single qualm following her in a hunt. It also allowed him to stay focused on the unseen stranger as they neared their chosen prey.

<3 is loving Kieth's posts.

Her heart thudded in her chest as the silver she wolf loped forward following the tantalizing scent of deer on the light breeze. A plan was being formulated in her head as Nari plodded forward towards their prey. The weather was nice for a hunt. The sun shown partially through a cloud as it passed by and the breeze rattled the still bare branches of the tree's surrounding the small wolf pack. They were fast approaching the herd of mule deer who'm were taking a midday drink at the unfrozen water waterfall.

The falls and the herd were only a short distance away. As the scent of deer increased the silver hunter was able to distinguish how many animals there were and their health. Five does, one adult buck, and one juvenile buck. She noted to herself straining her nose scenting for any sign of bad health. It seemed all of these deer were healthy with no infected injuries or diseased scent among them. This hunt might be a little harder for us. She tried to keep her hopes up as they neared the herd. Her stride shortened as she slowed down turning towards the high ground so as to spy on the herd below at the base of the falls. They could all watch from there to pick and choose their prey item.

Luckily for the wolves there was one older doe who'd not had a good winter. She was thinner than the rest and a bit weaker too. It was only her experience that had kept her alive through the winter filled with hungry wolf packs. Nari made it to the top of the ridge and paused there looking down silently on the herd through the few tree's separating them. The elder doe looked around for danger and spotted nothing. Then she began drinking never thinking to look up.

Narimé twitched her gaze back to her pack mates and evaluated each wolf's physical build. Both Kieth and Simaea were mid sized. Good for stamina and some speed, then there was Sloane and herself. The powerhouse and the stamina freak. Simaea and kieth first... then me followed by Sloane.. She thought out a strategy then turned to inform the others of her plan.

"Kieth and Simaea should head out first and rush them from the left and right flanks of the herd so I can find the best target. So far it looks like that elder doe in the middle of the group, but we'll see when everything plays out. Then I'll single out our target and tire it while you two dash in and out doing bits of damage." She paused allowing the plan to sink in. "Finally Sloane will join and hopefully end the thing." She looked over her comrades wondering if they understood the plan. Her blue gaze settled on Kieth knowing that he would help Simaea if she ever got into trouble.

Once she was satisfied they knew what they were doing Nari turned to check on the deer again. It seemed that the elder doe was the last to drink, being more cautious than her herd mates. The big buck and three of his does were now grazing occasionally picking up their heads to look for danger. The younger buck and doe were still standing nearer to the elder doe by the water. Perhaps they were watching for danger while the elder doe drank. Nari wasn't sure, but she wanted to start the hunt while the deer were still in the clearing and not in the woods. With a last look at the herds position she gave the signal for Kieth and Simaea to start. Narimé kept her gaze on the herd waiting to see the best target as she lithely crept forward to spy on the large animals.

As they got closer to the deer herd, the scent got stronger, as did the wolf's. When they turned to the high grounds, Kieth looked down at the deer herd. There was one in particular that caught his eye. An older doe, who looked like she had had a rough winter. He say Narimé turn her gaze to the rest of them, seeming to evaluate them. The dark grey male knew that he and Simaea would do bits of damage here and there, usually wolves his size did. Seeing as they could run at a faster pace than the stronger wolves and hold up they prey slightly so the other's could rush in and give the final blow.

When Narimé told them the plan, the dark grey male let the smallest of smiles show. He had hunted many times with his birth pack, and the strategy Narimé was using was the one his pack used. Kieth gave a nod at her words to show that he understood what he had to do. He prowled forward silently, making his way to the left of the herd, while he hoped that Simaea was going to the right. He crouched down, and watched as the deer ambled around. They hadn't seen them yet. Good.

Giving a nod a Simaea, he dashed forward, and the herd scattered. He zipped tothe side to stop one of the doe's from escaping. He gave a threatening growl, baring his ivory fangs, and she spun around, heading in the other direction. The dark grey male glanced briefly at Simaea to make sure that she fine. When he saw that she was handling everything well, he dashed back towards the herd, being very careful to not get trampled or squashed by the deer's hooves.

Simaea Nite
As they approached the small herd Simaea began to get anxious, she had not had many hunts to speak of and was at a strong lack of experience. She did not voice this but instead just hoped her instinct would serve her well. The yearling set her eyes upon the deer as Narime spoke, "Split up, got it." She crept forward opposite Kieth until they were in attack position. Silence reigned and Simaea felt ever heartbeat in her chest. thump... thump.... thump She looked up and saw the signal just as Kieth did .

A synchronized rising of both wolves took place and time slowed near to a halt as they both raced towards the deer. Kieth slid off to the side opposite Simaea and began to worry them whereas Simaea focused her attention directly on the doe. Instincts were kicking in she knew she had to keep it moving at a slow pace. Therefore she worried the side of the doe and leaped in front and back to the side so as not to give her but one avenue should she escape. Backwards, towards her alphas. She was sure that they would yet succeed in this hunt. Her optimism making her yip excitedly at the doe as she worried it.

As Narime' took charge and laid out the plan, he nodded his head in agreement. The plan was sound, especially given that there were only four of them. The others nodded their agreement as well and they all took their positions. Kieth and Simaea headed out first, one in each direction, deftly cutting the older doe from the rest of the herd once they'd gotten the signal. He'd seen the young fae's anxiety and was proud to see her doing her part, harrying the doe perfectly and getting her headed in their general direction.

Nari prepared herself to take over the chase and he knew that their friends would then proceed to weaken her. As he watched the scene unfold, he noted that the scent of the stranger seemed to be fading away. He was relieved at the knowledge as he didn't want to divide his attention between them and the doe when it came his time to attack and take her down. There would be time soon enough to track down anyone near their chosen territory. For now the over-sized wolf waited, muscles tensed and ready for attack as the others did their part in weakening their prey..

Not taking it out this round, but battling it. Next round it will be taken down. Keeping the thread count above 15 you know?

Narimé watched carefully as Simaea and Kieth worried the doe with their nips and snarls. The blood lust in her own throat crying out for something to snap her teeth around. The silver hunters legs itched to run, but she had to wait until just the right moment. Plans of possible events occurred through her mind as she watched the grizzly scene below. Sloane was tense beside her ready for his part of the job. However it wasn't time for his bulky strength yet. It was time for the next stage. For Nari to help out and injure the doe further.

Dashing forward the silver she wolf used her long stride and strength to catch up to her comrades and the tiring doe. Nari hadn't expected Simaea and kieth to do part of her job to separate the doe from the rest, but she was glad for it. The doe already being singled out meant that she could focus on injuring it more.

Keeping an eye on the black and gray wolves Nari settled in just behind the elderly doe towards her left flank. She already knew that the creature had seen her join the hunt and was ready to defend herself from a well rested wolf. The question was if her tiredness would allow the doe to defend herself. Nari snapped her jaws a few times aiming for the legs but not purposely trying to bite. More to trip the creature up. She succeeded in part as the doe bucked then tripped forward for a split second before regaining her footing. In that moment Narimé went for and actual wounding bite. Her jaws clenched around the upper left hind leg deep into the muscle of the scrambling clovid. The wolfs daggers penetrating the muscle and letting the blood flow heavily from the wound.

As soon as the doe regained her stride Narimé jumped back releasing her grip. Now was not the time to hang on for the ride. Continue worrying her, try to trip her, anything, then deal her bits of damage until she's so tired she can barely run. Nari growled delightedly in her head.

Dodging the hooves of a young doe, the grey male let it run past him as he singled out the older doe. His gaze travelled briefly to Simaea, and he saw that she was closing in as well. With a smile, Kieth gave an excited bark as he lunged forwards, aiming to nip her heels. He managed to score a few times, and almost tripping her.

Kieth barely noticed Narimé join the hunt until he almost crashed into her, from dodging the flying hooves of the elder doe. He splayed his ears apologetically before rushing towards the doe again, doing bits of damage here and there with his sharp canines.

His light grey eyes picked out Narimé's silver form as she made to bite the elder doe's legs, but not actually making contact. He could only guess that she was trying to trip the doe, and almost succeeded when when the doe bucked and almost fell forward. Unluckily, the doe regained her footing and continued running.

The grey male panted, with his salmon pink tongue hanging out of his mouth as he watched all of this from the side. He was running at a slow lope, somewhat behind Narimé. All of the running and dodging had tired him, as he didn't have much stamina. The grey male was an all rounder, not too strong or fast, with little stamina. But he had the right stuff for the first part in a hunt. Mostly just worrying the prey and dealing bits of damage here and there.

Kieth hung back slight, he knew that his part was mostly finished, and it was now the silver fae's turn. But he would be there in a heartbeat if she was in need of assistance.
