it’s our party, we can do what we want
July 9th; Late Morning; Overcast; 70° F/21° C

Having been apart of Nomads Pass for nearly three months, Taima now no longer needed Datura at her side. He was no longer some sort of "social crutch," and she was starting to become a lady by her own means. Her brief talk with Mapplethorpe had her thinking in all sorts of new ways. If she had not followed her instincts to search for her prince in the fog, if she had not patched up her relationship with Datura when they had a small bout before Heiress Loch, if Mapplethorpe had ultimately not come looking for Datura... she would not have been here at all. It was because of the grizzled Advisor that she had all that she had now and she dutifully did as he asked day in and day out.

Today her border patrol brought her on the very edges of Mapplethorpe and Naira's markers and, acting upon the Advisor's suggestion to relax for a few hours in the middle of her beat, Taima decided on a whim that the small body of water she had only ever seen glimpses of through the dense treetops was the place she would take a break. Her nose told her that Mapplethorpe often visited the area, and it gave her all the more reason to investigate, even if it was merely a few minutes' walk from the territory lines. Holding her head up high and keeping her tail level, she strode away from the incline that led up to the Pass and into the northern part of the Ghastly Woods. Carefully she picked her way through the verdant foliage, rewarded with the sight of a small pool once she had peered through the curtain that surrounded the small, hidden oasis. She daintily lowered one forepaw into the cool water before dipping the other in beside it to lower her head and quench her thirst.

Licking her lips and making sure the water droplets did not stay in the fur on her muzzle and chin, she gazed about the area in awe. Even if the sun was not shining, the area was quiet and welcoming in every aspect. Isolated, cozy, and secluded... Only when she was confident she was alone, gracefully lowered herself into a bed of moss-covered rocks and sand, looking over the water's surface with an air that suggested she might have been the overseer of the spring. Though she had long since outgrown her games of make-believe, she lightly tilted her head to her right, pretending to just rest her head on her imaginary friend, her pretend pack's Keeper, now a graying gentleman whose still svelte build and kind eyes rendered him into the father-figure she so very much missed.

Muerda Lospire
Muerda had been running along side the mountain ever sense she left the two other wolves. Feeling hungry and tiered she decided to venture through the woods and to what seemed like a body of water. Slowly she emerged and walked towards the water, only to smell another wolf near by. Her fur ruffled a bit but then it suddenly dropped. Looking for the wolf her eyes locked onto her and walked towards her. "Why hello there. The names Muerda" her green eyes seeming friendly. They always did at first until she decided if the wolf was worth being a friend or not. Trying to seem more friendly to not startle the wolf away she smiled and wagged her tail. Taking a sip of water she smelled a pack scent on the wolf. It was obvious because it was thee smell of other wolves all mixed into one main scent. The scent of a pack.

The water was cool and fresh so she took a dip in then came back out. Shaking the water off Muerda made sure to not get any water on the other wolf. Her voice breaking out again "So you wouldn't happen to know of any packs around would you?" she smiled. "Of course she will, she is part of one." her mind told her these words soft and smooth.

Aching paws told her to sit down but she still stood. Not wanting to make the other wolf feel like she was lower. Muerda's stomach growled at hunger and she tried to get it to stop. Thinking she had never been in a worse condition in her life. As soon as she found somewhere to stay she would tidy herself up to look more presentable.

It's our party we can say what we want
Taima's ears twitched but she had not actually expected the distant footsteps to produce the wolf that had emerged close to her resting place. It seemed as though the woman did not even falter or pause to assess just what the young Nomad was doing here. Just like that, there was a friendly introduction, followed by the handing out of her name: Muerda. In having learned the ways of the wolves of Nomads Pass both frontwards and backwards, the Lyall could only stare, her golden eyes narrowing in suspicion. It only made sense to her now that one was only smart to evaluate first before introducing themselves. Perhaps Taima had simply not given herself enough time to properly settle down, or she had not positioned herself properly with her head and chin up to suggest that she was more than sure of herself. Confident. Classy. Dangerous.

Her skull righted itself, and to her right side, her invisible companion stood up with his fur bristled, waiting for the signal to attack her. Taima merely scowled, even as she watched the woman quench her thirst then head into the water when she did not answer her. Coming back onto the shore, Muerda addressed her again and the gray lady still stared, uncomfortable and not interested in the slightest. It might have been apparent by the scents of her coat that she belonged to several someones but in keeping to the code and oath that Mapplethorpe had dutifully taught her to memorize by heart, she shook her head briefly, keeping her eyes trained on the rogue. "No," she answered in a steely tone. "There are no packs around here."

Muerda Lospire
Staring back Muerda pulled back her lips a bit. "I'm not stupid, I smell a pack on you." snarling a bit her fur rose. Dropping her aggression she looked at the wolf. "But if you don't tell me that's fine. I can always find out myself. her voice rough and her eyes cold. Having nothing else to say Muerda stood there in silence. Her tail flicking around, a bit in irritation. "I've never seen such a rude wolf, I wonder if this is how people look at me." her mind seemed to be talking to her a lot lately. Maybe it was just part of old age. Yes there was older wolves out there, but she new she would never be on top of her game like she was two years ago. Running a pack, but it crashed and burned. Having a family was something great, but then again her mate died and her children lost. Guess all good things come to a end. At least that's how it seemed.

Lost in her thoughts the world around her faded. "What good are you if you can't keep anything strong and running. Look at yourself! You're becoming soft and weak. You'll never be any better. What you need to do is train! That's all it takes, just a little training." Muerda's own mind was now telling her how weak she was. So to show she was strong she pumped up her chest and held her head high. From now on she would show the world what she really was. A hard working, strong, leading wolf.

It's our party we can say what we want
It might have been terrible of Taima to want to laugh, but in successfully managing to keep her peal of mockery inside her throat, she rose up on all four limbs. Her tail drew upward just enough to show that she was not afraid and terribly itching to remain the dominant one in this unfolding situation, just as both Borden and Mapplethorpe had taught her. "I didn't say you were stupid," she said smoothly with a glare in reply to the woman's snarl. What little bit of assertions the woman had seemingly said to only comfort herself only made Taima shrug. Sure, she could find out for herself, but it wasn't like every pack out there would freely approach her just as she had with them.

For some time it looked like the woman had withdrawn from their encounter into her thoughts and Taima's head canted to one side. What was wrong with this lady? Mapplethorpe seemed a lot older than she was for sure, but even the Advisor's mind had not even started to decay inside his head. After holding still for a bit, the rogue seemed to have regained her sense of self. Her head rose up and her chest swelled. Now, what was she doing? Was this a test? ...because the Lyall was so very ready to act as her pack and family had taught her to. Sharp golden eyes went to the woman's tail as if daring it to rise into the air also, but when it seemed like it wouldn't, the girl brashly went ahead and accepted the display as it was. Her silvery form snaked forward two steps and her lips unveiled a set of clenched teeth, "Find out for yourself then. Leave me alone." Behind her right shoulder the imaginary companion she had heavily relied on vanished once again in a puff of unseen smoke which rose up in wisps of gray and black, never to reappear again. It was apparent that she did not need him anymore. "My pack is none of your business."

Muerda Lospire
(sorry about short post, muse is running low. Trying to fill it back up.)
Muerda snarled and snapped. Not biting just show the wolf she wasn't going to take this. Her fur fluffed and she showed her teeth back. Tail raising. "Take one step closer and someone could lose a paw." she let out a deep growl as a warning showed her teeth a bit more. Yes, this is the wolf she was. Not backing down from anything. Everyone loses and everyone wins. Lifting her head higher and making her self look bigger. Shoulders raising her fur on edge. Almost sure she had looked bigger now. Just cause your old doesn't mean you can't fight. Of course Muerda could tip the scales with her strength. From the looks of it this wolf could run though. Meaning that she might run from the fight, if it came to that.

Cold stone hard green eyes stared at this wolf. It was great and all that she protected her pack, but it was rude how she greeted others. Apparently all the young wolves had no respect in this land. At least the ones she had met. A smirk came onto Muerda's face "Fight or Flight? her voice sharp like the edge of a thorn. It was only said to see what the other would do. Muerda most certainly wasn't trying to be rude but it was brought upon her to do so. Her ears bent forward and she was in a stage ready to attack. Like she said, she always enjoyed a good fight. But there had to be a good reason to it.

we don't take nothing from nobody
The stranger rose to the occasion, the challenge, and the invitation with such flair that Taima had to smirk. It was amazing just how much she had learned and just how far she had come since being separated from her family. In the way that Taima Lyall dared to take that single step forward, it was evidently clear that she was no longer the skittish girl she had been when she had first come to Nomads Pass. She had come right back into her element, the only difference was that the wolf before her was someone who was not apart of her family, and that fact alone provoked her to act not just rebelliously but defensively also.

The woman growled and the young Lyall readily returned it as she narrowed her dull gold eyes. Her shoulders came up and her head lowered protectively, her ears pointing forward just enough to still convey her edginess without calling attention to themselves. Her hackles rose as she steadied herself, the fur along her spine also coming up in terrible spikes. "Fight or flight?" the woman sneered, and just like that Taima was off. Her stocky forearms lifted and her hind legs pushed her forward. It might have looked like she was going straight for the rogue's face but a simple twist in her body as her paws landed on the damp silt improvised to have her aim for the fur and skin behind Muerda's right ear.

A thunderous growl emitted from her rib cage and it was with the most gruesome snaps of her jaw that her left fore paw also drew upward in attempt to keep her opponent from escaping. Her ivory maw found what it had been searching for not just once but twice and ultimately, three times over before trying to use her upper body to push and roll the woman into the shoreline around the Secluded Spring. To stamp out any more useless musings and make it clear that she was one of the few who held power on this end of the mountain range.

Muerda Lospire
Growling Muerda felt the teeth sink in a fast yip came out. Being pushed across the bay she refused to go. Muerda was mad as she started to bite at the other's leg. She pulled on it hoping to damage the whole leg it's self. Pulling as hard as she could she waited for a snap or a pop. A huge growl rose from her chest then a bark."I'll show her who's boss." her mind was encouraging her to use any more force to her advantage. This wolf looked so young she must have a very weak spot. The leg was loose in her mouth slowly it was slipping from her jaws. Angry she tried to get another hold on the leg. Each time she went in for it she missed. Something she didn't like at all. Not wanting to give in she would give another warning.

Another huge growl came spurting from her chest and her fur fluffed again. Everything she was ever trained would be used her. Defense, Offense, and Skills. The scene before her was obviously going to turn gruesome. She felt a trickle of blood coming from where she had been bit. Hoping that she did worse damage on the girls leg. The anger inside of her was unbearable. A sudden rage some may call it. This girl had no right to start a fight, but you have to finish what you start. This fight wouldn't be finish until one of them lost. Muerda wasn't afraid of losing. But if she won, what would happen? Where would it go from there?
