The crow calls the raven black

There had been something about her, the way that she moved, the way the sun had reflected off her coat of platinum and soot. He knew then that he had to make her his, and so he had taken her without thought. It was the type of wolf he always had been, and there was no point to defying ones true nature.

Now though, he dozed, in that magical place somewhere between wakefulness and sleep. That hazy place where dreams begin but you still manage to have some control over them. Instead of lying on a cold carcass of slowly spoiling meat and torn hide, it was a pile of females beneath him, warm and breathing, their only purpose to hunt his meals and serve his every whim. He could smell the fear that rolled off their pelts, see the defeat in their eyes, and it only served to fuel his hunger. It was what he wanted, no needed... deserved...

Wings flapped overhead, the cawing of a crow dragging his eyes open, no more than half way. It was the way he always looked when he was awake, as if he were half asleep. It could make him appear harmless to the unsuspecting. A simple creature really. It was a guise that served him well.

The crow was not alone. It’s cawing drawing more companions. Beggars that they were, standing there with their heads cocked to the side, beady eyes watching the king of the carrion heap. As one dared to hop closer he growled low in warning. This was his meal. He had found it and he would not share.

A second bird moved closer, and the first dared to advance again. Growing tired of their games he rose, sending the birds off in a flurry of feathers and wind. But they didn’t go far. They never did. Merely to the branches just beyond his reach. He settled back down with a hurumph, resuming his guard on the remnants of what once had walked on four legs just like him. It was a rare find for a lone wolf, and he wasn’t about to give it up so easily.

Every move that she make reminded her of the life she had missed out on for a full year. The life that she should have been living had she not been pregnant. Her nomadic style had been broken and bent until the very moment she had left Elysium Fields. The elders had watched her leave but they knew not sadness for her, her gypsy-like personality suited her and it was in her nature to wander and never be bound to a single creature. She couldn’t help it, it had defined her as a young adult and now at the age of four she still had not been tamed.
The lower half of the region had paid mercy to her unsettled paws as they danced upon the surface like ballerinas. This place was so fulfilling, it held such magic that she could feel it within her legs and inside of her heart. It was expansive and she would do whatever it took to learn everything about this area and to see every territory before eventually wandering off to allow her mind to explore a new place. The wolves here had yet to show her any discrepancy which was a nice change, but she was sure it would not stay this way.
Narcissa had a way of disrupting things and interfering with relationships, friendships and pack mates. So much so that sometimes she didn’t even mean it but this place just spoke wonders for her. The Lore held promise for her completion, her exploration would give her no mercy as she was sure that in the long run she would succeed and come out stronger as always. After the pack she had last been in where they worshiped her very existence because of her gypsy nature, she wondered if any pack here was likely just the same.
Careful steps took her across the brook in the south, bringing her back to the Fireweed Rise eventually to see those she traveled with, but her attention was caught somewhere else. Not sight nor sound gave it away, but the smell was enough to turn her head. Angled in its direction she began to walk and caught sight of it just barely, a wolf atop a corpse that was unrecognizable at this distance but she couldn’t just turn away. Picking her head up a little and twisting her tail around in the air, she walked near him slowly. Apple-green eyes danced along the trail and occasionally turned upwards to hopefully find him looking at her. She did not deserve his find, not exactly. Narcissa just wanted to play.

The crow calls the raven black

His lids half closed would easily cause him to be mistaken as slow, but the cunning male was far from it. Although he had lost himself to the land of daydreams he was quickly pulled back to reality by the sound of approaching steps. His lime green eyes fell on ones of similar colour as the brown pelted woman approached, her tail twisting in the air as if to challenge his very existence.

He allowed his head to rise from where it had rested against the rotting carcass as another growl of warning left his chest. Normally he would take time to appreciate the sight of her, but spring was gone and with it the desire to take what was his by rights. He could try to keep her, yes, but it would simply be far too much work over far too long of a time before he would reap any rewards. Perhaps if he gathered a few, then he would be able to feast on fresh meat instead of the spoiled leavings of others, but that was a thought for another day.

Drawing himself up casually, his tail pointing to the ground, ears tilted to neither point up, nor fold flat against his skull, it only took a single step to dismount from his throne and place himself directly in her path just in case she had thoughts of stealing from him. It was a petty thing to fight over really, little more than some skin and a few meagre mouthfuls of meat left clinging to the bones, but gnawing on the bones might stave off hunger for just long enough to find something better.

No. He was clearly not going to share.

Even with the thought that the flick of her tail might send a challenge towards the stranger, she didn’t stop. Narcissa was not someone that could easily be pushed around or told to do anything, she act on her own accord. She could not be tamed, mutated or instructed to do anything similar to bending to the will of another. If that were to happen then she would surely be dead or even mimicked, but this woman would never be someone she was not meant to be.
As her apple-green eyes looked to him she recognized his similar eyes, as well as the dark fur that was presented along with whatever lay underneath him. No wonder the poor felt threatened. Finding that she couldn’t really hold back her amusement she chuckled and shrugged her shoulders, <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#D6C7B6;">“how amusing. You think that I would stoop so low as to steal your food?” Narcissa smiled impishly, her tail waving along the backs of her legs. Ears were atop her head, sporting a non-threatening position than to otherwise be friendly. That was all she had come here for but she was certainly amused by his play.
The male hovered over the rather miniscule scrap that could hardly do anything for her. Narcissa was certain that she could bring down something far better than this scrap of shit that he had likely come across by random. It certainly didn’t look very fresh. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#D6C7B6;">“If you would follow me you wouldn’t have to feel challenged for your scraps,” she called to him once she turned her back to him (ears alert for a surprise attack if so chose) to head in the direction of the Meadow. On her travels here she had seen deer but it was up to him if the two of them would feast as comrades rather than opponents.

As disdainful as he felt towards the woman, the prospect of a fresh kill did make his mouth water and so reluctantly he shook some of the dust and debris from his ragged coat. A more self conscious wolf would probably have spent a good few hours grooming the ragged shed from their coat by now, but he had nobody to impress and beyond the occasional itch it was yet to cause him any major concern.

Taking a step forward and to the woman’s left he would keep himself a short distance behind her, watching her warily in case she decided to take advantage of the distance and close in on his prize. Although she too seemed intent on bigger meals, one could never be sure and a trickster at heart, he wasn’t about to trust this complete stranger so readily. Although the male was often brash, and more than confident in his own abilities - he chose to remain silent for now. No names had been offered as yet so why go spoiling the mood? Besides, it was often easier to make others confess things they did not wish to be known if you could unnerve them first.

Indicating with an incline of his heavy head that the woman should lead the way to this apparent bounty, he allowed his green eyes to lock with her own in a silent challenge. If this venture did not prove to be worth his time, he would make her pay.

sorry about the wait, wasn't quite sure what to do with this character. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#D6C7B6;">
The timber colored female barely had the energy to even fight with this loner over some measly scraps. After all she had been a trained hunter ever since she was old enough to watch from the sidelines. Watching every tactic that each wolf put into play, filing it away and otherwise latching onto any and all ideas. Under a year old she had even managed to put together a hunt of her own, both successful and unsuccessful. It all depended on the team you had beside you and if everyone was comfortable with exerting their own weight within the group. It had to be a team effort, as hunting big game was not for solos.
After what seemed to be very little debate he seemed more than happy to follow suit to her to catch something a lot more beefy. It certainly got him away from the horrible pile of crap that he had seemingly found himself and maybe with a little bit more extra meat on his bones he might be able to fill out what he had left of a body. Although she didn’t like the prospect of the guy walking behind her at all she figured if it was all he was going to give then she would just have to pin up her ears in case of excessive movement. They were strangers and he was going to be cautious of her movements, then she needed to be aware of his regardless of whether he agreed to this or not.
