Snow crunched beneath each step of carefully considered precision that Senio took, drawing him closer to the borders of the unknown pack he was nearing. The distance was still great between his platinum colored body and their territorial markings, yet, guard was still raised nevertheless. The Fearlheart-DiSarinno did not know these wolves, did not know even the names of the packs that he had scented thus far. Couple those facts with the bone deep chill that had settled into the very marrow of his bones, not to mention the ugsome lack of prey aside from your common tree squirrel or starving rabbit. Hardly enough to feed one wolf, let alone a pack full of hungry mouths. These twisting facts all taunted him, hissing of warnings, of caution. What assurance did he have that they had not all turn excessively hostile and would eat whatever they could? Including resorting to cannibalism. It wasn’t as if Senio, despite his youth, was unaware of such gruesome truths. Even his own mother had resulted to cannibalism a few times, if what she had confessed to him was a true tale. He rather thought that it was because March Owl Redleaf-DiSarinno was not one to lie. Neither had been Aether, for that matter. Though it was inherently unfair to form opinions based solely on what he knew as facts, while still missing the other half of facts, Senio could not help it, nevertheless; and truth be told if he were in their paw steps he was not so certain that he would be unable to conceal a mild amount of hostility. A potential recruit was a potential mouth to feed, a potential aid to their pack’s well being yes, but still.

Did the pros always outweigh the cons?

Senio could not be sure, and until he could regain some small amount of confidence he was on his guard.

Sea blue eyes took in the lands before him, scanning and assessing silently as he gave pause - being certain to leave more than a respectful distance between this pack’s scent markers and his self. Lifting his muzzle to the sky he let out a short call, breath spilling from lips in elegant furls of steam, stating his potential interest in joining before he fell silent, awaiting.

Minka Lagina

The call came muffled by the howl of the wind into the caverns enough to stir the alpha from her post near the entrance. Minka had been seated a few yards into the tunnels, watching wearily as snow would build at the opening before she would go and clear it away. As of late it needed an almost constant watch or they were at risk of being buried alive and the fae slept fitfully with nightmares of a wall of snow trapping them in. The howl made the woman's muscles stiffen briefly, who could be calling in the middle of this blizzard and what could they possibly want? The wind hit the tawny body like a brick wall, instantly snow seared her eyes causing her to squint. Gritting her fangs together the she wolf pushed onwards, intent on making whatever sort of meeting this was brief so she could return to her position.

The wind sliced through her fur effortlessly, allowing the snow to settle against her skin and cause a dampness that could possibly threaten the life of a loner. A tremble racked the woman's body as she trudged through the snow, slowing her progress exponentially. A trip that should have taken her a few minutes took her nearly a quarter of an hour and the alpha's patience was running thin by the time she reached the border. The loner was a mere smudge against the backdrop of the blizzard, his creamy pelt blending with his surroundings and yet the golden eyes focused against the image unwaveringly. Standing tall Minka's tail flung above her back like a banner in the wind, silent for many moments her posture demanding respect and submittal.

The woman knew what this loner was calling for, the blizzard had threatened her pack enough but for a lone wolf it was practically a death sentence. He had come searching for shelter, for food, for warmth, and it would be up to her to decide his fate. The tawny alpha's heart softened, who was she to play god and decide who would live and who would die? Every wolf deserved a fair chance, and yet she had a family to protect and so it was warily she called out, "Why do you come calling in such foul weather? Minka knew the answer already sure, but that didn't mean she didn't need to hear it from this stranger himself, she needed answers of her own before she could truly weigh the pros and cons.

Ash Hervok

The winter was being harsh to them all. Lately, Ash had found himself seeking the warmth of other pack mates around him, and though he could sense the distaste that some of the children had for him, he still tried to give them what they needed and tried to provide for them in the best way he could. Still there father had not returned and Ash could only assume that the coward had left his pack to fend from themselves during the winter. Though from what he had heard from Nina, Sloane should have been quite the nobleman, but from what he was witnessing now was anything but. He had not even told his pack that he had gone out to find his mate, whom had returned to them upon Ash and Minka's approve. Narime was quite the beauty and Ash could not find it in himself to think bad about the woman. She had given him no reason to doubt he loyalty to the pack, but thought it best that Minka remain in leadership until the younger woman got control of her constantly worried state of mind. It would bring curse upon this pack if they had an unstable leader among them.

He had not expected an unfamiliar call sounding from his borders and promptly turned in the direction that it was coming from, lightly cursing himself for being on the other side of the borders. Hopefully another member, preferably someone he knew would already be there and asking some questions so he could get the run down. Breaking into a brisk sprint the dark male flew through the now familiar lands...his lands. Ash did not know what he would have done had he not had leadership experience before this. He had been resistant at first when presented with the role a year ago and now found himself settling comfortably into the position. He did not abuse it, but found it useful to pull rank so that everyone knew when he meant business, which was often, but usually no one questioned his motives. He was pleased to see that he was not the first to arrive and was greeted with the back of Minka. With her in view, Ash straightened out his position and rounded his shoulders back, making him seem much taller and powerful. Pushing forward with an air of importance to him, he walked forward, purpose clear in his step as he towered next to the woman. Due to his face, the stranger in front of him was much larger than he was, though a test of strength could not have been determined at that time. Clearing his throat, he spoke clearly, "What is your name?" the Hervok found no need to ask the boy what his intentions were, it would be a waste of both of their breaths to even think to ask or answer the question when the inclement weather that surrounded them practically begged for the boy to gain entry into Whisper Caverns.
