Naia Aegina

The Willow Ridge leader’s demeanor had completely shifted, and Naia was more than a little curious about what the information had meant to the Lyall male. She probably wouldn’t ever know, unless Makisim provided some insight when she delivered the message. Though he still held himself in a rigid stance, the suspicion and disdain on the male’s features had faded, replaced by a look of resolution.. or perhaps even respect. An empathetic creature, Naia relaxed considerably with his shift in mood, and as he dismissed her she found herself wondering why moments ago she had been so eager to flee. There was clearly more to learn from this man.. but that would have to be for another time. His head dipped in farewell, and Naia bowed as well—deeper than he of course, as was custom for a wolf of lower rank. Her ears flicked to attention when he discharged her with a simple ”go,” and much to her surprise followed the command with the wish that she ”take care”. His wall of sarcasm and intimidation had truly crumbled.

”Yes, sir,” she replied, with equal reverence, ”And you as well, until we meet again.” Naia was surprised to find herself truly meaning those words, despite the ill feelings he had given her at the beginning of their meeting. She had no doubt that she would see the Willow Ridge leader again, given that their packs were neighbors. The Timber woman just hoped that the meeting would be a pleasant one. Though she still held misgivings for the Ridge wolves as a whole (they housed Shade’s murderer, after all) Naia was not one to project her overall impression of a pack onto its individual members. Perhaps she would be able to put the past behind her—hopefully soon. If Angier and Maksim struck up some sort of agreement or alliance, there was no question that as a scout she would be interacting with Ridge wolves.. perhaps even Shade’s killer.. on a regular basis.

The thought sent a shiver up Naia’s spine, reminding her that it was high time to head back toward the relaxing comfort of home. A scout on a mission, she reared onto her back paws, swiveling to dash off in the direction she had come. She followed her own scent, retracing her steps at a steady pace, slowing only when she reached the edge of the cedarwoods. Her next task was to find Maksim while the message was still fresh on her mind, and perhaps their meeting would fill in the gaps in Naia’s knowledge of her own pack’s history.
