the silence around consumed her very being. she fed off the deathly silence of this arena she had entered and it was a haunting annointment. she rather enjoyed it's haunting ring. a curling motion from her kisser plastered a smirk across her maw. "Perfect...." she breathed.
Often times silence was deafening in most cases, but not for aestyn. silence was invigorating and energizing. muscle bound appendages jabbed at the earthy soil moving her frame in a steady gait. the silver hints of her coat flashed reflections to the river she was running parallel to.

improving her speed her sides began heaving in and out the longer she ran. she knew not how many miles her paws had allowed her travel, and to be frank she really didn't care to know. every step was something new and something she had conquered. few had ever caught her exclusive attention, and she intended to keep it that way. the rippling invisible breeze made it's presence known as it raced up her cloaked spine. giving her a shrill. a death ringing howl rummaged from her vocal cavity and escaped with bravado as it rang into the isolated arena. surely, if there was any other life forms here they'd be running for the hills. soon her high pitched notes died. quarrelling with the wind's current as it began attempting to push her from moving forward she bared her chiseled apex lower so to protect her aqua orbits.

the cold was biting, and she longed to find an isolate nest for the evening.
after all, that's all she ever expected from often times cruel mother nature. she knew she was more than likely on sacred claimed ground but, how else was she to make her presence known to it's keepers. she sensed the entrance into the terra would cause more trouble than her intention so she circled back and waited right outside of the marked territory. jagged talons gripped the cold almost lifeless earth as her torso paced back and forth anxiously awaiting one of the harvesters of the kingdom to make an appearance. harks swiveled disturbing the airwaves. before long her rounds came to a complete halt as her anxiousness left her. they would come in time, patience was the key. barbed padders gripped the ground to reassure her stance, her multiple hued tassel swung freely behind her muscle bound haunches.

Exhaustion was an understatement – he had left the small gathering of wolves with the news of their departure in the morning, and then a call sung out across the lands he still laid claim to, if only for a few more stolen hours. He was tempted to simply ignore it.. after all, he did not want to leave Desdemona from his sight – especially with his children.

But he could not refuse another if they seemed a decent addition to the ranks. Winter would come swiftly, and he would need others to help feed his children.. and, perhaps even to ward off his ex-mate who was now lurking like a tainted shadow.

So he maneuvered his way to the border, his gait swift and his large frame sure. Phineas might have been fatigued beyond all measure, but he would maintain his status amongst these wolves, and in turn, he held himself a king – for that was what the Argyris was.

His bright orange eyes caught a flash of silver. A she-wolf – rogue. He emerged from the foliage, the moon glinting from his ivory pelt as he moved forward. His pace was that of a prowl, his eyes studying her brazenly as he lifted his muzzle whilst his tail arched higher in the air. She had summoned him, so he offered no words, his stoical expression merely remained upon her, waiting for an explanation to why she requested a Magnolia Glen wolf.

Soon, they would be gone from these lands when dawn’s first light hit the top of the trees.. and soon, the mountain would harbor the newly rising pack.

Apathetic to the utter anonymity of who would make the undoubted appearance her thoughts began to transition her into a coil of inquiry of why she was here? Was she persuaded enough to become willing to proposition herself subject to a packs life style? Would this endeavor be a waste of her precious time? What did she bring to the table that would profit a potential pack? The quarry of the questionnaire grew, overwhelming her being. Shattering the questions bullets, she snapped out of her skulls stressful concentration. Her straining apprehension was now laid to the side as her persistence had begun to hopefully begin to pay off. Rising from the overgrown and unkempt woodlands one of the harvesters of the arena made his first move.

His skulks like movements were noted as he drew closer to her. Aestyn also noted the distinguished pose of stature the ashy beast carried. His jaw line was lifted highly as his tassel mirrored in its ascent. No words were uttered between them only for a few fluttering seconds as she tried to get a hold of her bearings. She wasn’t anxious so much with his presence but, just the mere thought of what she was seeking permission for was unnerving. Only a few months back the thought of joining ranks with a group of her kind left a bitter taste in her mouth. With winter approaching she dare not try and seclude herself for another winter. She had scarcely mustered the potency needed to last the winter to make it on her own. The moons soft glow lit up the male as he continued to draw nearer to her seated position. His cologne hit her like a ton of bricks not in a bad way, but an overwhelming way.

There were so many variants to him, obviously from the pack he had left behind to engage her. Without further hesitations her velveteen lyrical notes swept from between her clenched jaw ”Pardon for my late intrusion, I am Aestyn. I’ve traveled far to reach these mountains in search to perhaps offer my companionship if allowance is granted” deciding to be polite she curved in her silvern draped skull lowering it in a courteous manner. Aestyn’s carved apex emerged upwards as she looked unwaveringly into his pumpkin hued pools with her own aqua pools. Repositioning herself from her seated position to standing firmly on all four limbs as she waited for his reply. She hoped it would be that of a positive because, the temperature was dropping quite opposite to the moon rising.

She wasted no time for introduction – though her bright eyes bore in to his, stirring his hackles to bristle at this age-old challenge. So many loners had waltzed upon his borders – some, even, old faces he had once trusted, only to try to stare him down, as if they did not realize that to do so was a direct challenge to his rank. Had fatigue not clung to every ounce of his very being, he might have simply closed the distance between them then, snapping his jaws to her throat and revealing what he truly thought of her poor manners.

But he did not move. Instead, his figure stood – regal, defined by the moonlight, and he cast her a quizzical glance. She uttered a mouthful – she traveled far to reach mountains to seek companionship. The words alone were ludicrous – was she asking to join, or simply looking for someone to talk to? Thus far, he felt as if his time was being wasted.. especially, when he would be taking his children on the longest journey they would have thus far in their young lives come daybreak in the morning.

“You’ll need to clarify what you mean by ‘companionship,’” he responded dryly, his tail sweeping through the cold night air. His breath unfurled to the darkness, much like a wisp of smoke as it tapered to the night sky. Winter was coming. He could feel it in the air.. the way the frost glistened upon the grass blades and the bushes. He could only pray it would not be like last year.

Perhaps, her words were not properly phrased. His tolerant demeanor shifted quickly into a parched attitude like that to a once beautiful lake scoured and dried by the radiating heat from the sun. She had been out of immediate practice with offering herself to a pack lifestyle. His abrasiveness confirmed her error head on. Now he questioned companionship? Did he think she was daft? She thought stiffly as his dry tones rubbed her the wrong way. Seeing as how she had gotten started on the wrong foot she convexed her back to a low baring arch cowering down to show she had not meant to disregard his dominant stature. This move was very unlike her, but she would have to lay down her own domineering pride if she was to get help surviving the cold days in front of her. He had made no more advancements towards her but, instead replaced his sultry pace with a posture only a leader would represent.

” Greeeaaaat. Good going.” she huffed to herself inwardly. She could kick herself; of course she would get off on the wrong foot with the pack leader. He did not even have to mention he was the chief of the lands; his posture said it all. Lowering herself and looking away from him in sheer instincts “I apologize for my lack of judgment.” remaining subjected to his regal stance. Now to answer his question she peered up into his officious stained orbs but, only as she replied to his inquiry ” I seek companionship within pack ranks.” she paused briefly looking back down to the forest base as she continued with her words unwavering ” to which I may provide a ready and able vessel” her words filled the atmosphere as light as they were they laid heavy upon her. The deed was done, she had opened herself a victim to be ruled.

The subtle change of his demeanor toward her to reflect his disapproval seemed to be taken in to consideration, and the girl lowered herself – something he would consider proper, given her next request that by companionship, she meant a place within his ranks. He was older now, and at times, he wondered if he was simply an old-fashioned beast – these young spring chickens seemed to need a gentle nudge before showing the barest trace of manners. He could only hope that despite being the children of a kingdom, his own children would reveal better suitability if they ever sought a place outside of their true home.

He could not imagine life without them though, and the idea they might stray from beneath his protective wing was enough to tug his heartstrings.

As swift as she was to backstep her words, he was willing to let the small mishap go as well. Holding on to his frustrations had not done him any favors – such was the case of Zia, whose whereabouts were now unknown to the male.. and who should have been leading rightfully at his side now. Instead, he had a small myriad of females he did not know.. and then Desdemona – who he trusted about as far as he could throw her. It would amaze him if his ex-mate would not even try to choke him in his sleep this very night.

“And what skills do you bring to a pack, Aestyn?” It was an age old question – one he had asked so many times over, that the faces of his joiners had become blurred. Only a few had proven to be loyal, and even then.. they had all somehow drifted away.

Yes, one could see Aestyn's manners were not up to an acceptable par. She however, did the best she knew. Growing up solely alone with no teaching her from a young age to aid in the ways that were indeed acceptable; was somewhat her own fault. She blamed no one but herself for her awful manners. Practice would make perfect she supposed. She had just never really had any recently to practice on. His abrasive spirit was soon vanished but, his sternness remained as his dutiful question now laid before her. She dreaded to hear his words, staying hovered above the crown still lowered she looked down somberly at the frozen dew that had planted its army on the ground with numbers too many to count trying to avoid his question by attempting to count but with fail seconds later she responded with her lyrics soft and low "I have many skills to be counted for as I have been alone for quite sometime and I have survived three winters alone.
As you can imagine Sir, I can offer my life skills I have collected and learned through the years. As a teacher, hunter, and defender."

Knowing the multiple words she had just uttered were probably for in vain.
She really did not just have one special skill to the table but, a plethora of dexterity. She knew her words would have either gotten her a ticket in or she could just as easily be turned down. her silver and earth toned tassel swung low beneath her wrapping around one of her muscular appendage as if crossing her fingers for good luck. Regardless, if he accepted her or not of her answer she knew her savy-ness could be used in another pack. She was used to rejection but, a glimmer of hope was hanging on tight for her aching legs wanted a home.

There was nothing outstanding about her answer – but that was nothing new. He couldn’t even say he gave remarkable answers when asked such a question, but he did believe she had answered honestly, at the very least. There was something to be said for that.. and as he studied her, he knew he could not decipher what her loyalty was like. Not until he tested it for himself.

With a small nod, the male shifted his weight, his eyes studying her quietly. “We are moving to a new territory tomorrow to stake claim – does that affect your choice to stay with us?” It was a simple question, but very relevant to the female, for she would be uprooted no sooner than she had settled down for the night. He had not expected a stranger to come knocking on his door only hours before his travels, and so he waited, knowing full well that the offer to join them might be fully based on the simple fact that she liked the look of the land from the outside – after all, she knew none of them to judge anything else. “It will be at the base of the mountain,” he also offered as brief insight – if she had a fear of mountains, that might also influence her decision.

The cold wind swept past him at that point, stirring his ivory pelt and reminding him that even once the sun rose, it did not promise that the next day would be any warmer than it was now.

Daring to look up if only for a moment his acknowledgement was perceived in the form of a simple nod. She was beginning to win his approval, that much she knew. His next statement was one that was filled with question. As he mentioned moving her aching limbs argued with her as they were in need of a entitled rest. She had asked a lot of them the past previous days. She was however, interested in where the territory shift would take its new claim. She pondered it quickly, knowing his patience must be getting close to wearing thin. Before she could fully comprehend her ivory cage unhinged and words were exchanged back "If you will allow my presence. I would be most appreciative." now were muscles began to quiver inside as the hovering position she had carried for the most of their encounter and conversation was now beginning to look sloppy. As an alternative, she backed away only one or so steps, carefully raising back to her almost normal height never letting her head ascend higher than his.

He than explained where he had made arrangements to take his pack the next day to settle. She made no verbal response but, she let her cranium dip slightly in a nodding motion acknowledging his plan. Harks swiveled and twitched as she listened for perhaps her future pack mates. Would they accept her? She obviously, was not graceful with first impressions but maybe she could get by if she kept her witty tongue inside her trap. Aqua time capsules glanced back at him only just briefly to figure out his expression before giving up and looking back down at the crystal dusted soil.

She seemed to hold no qualm with this news, and waiting for only a short moment to allow her thought and consideration of her decision, when noting was spoken, he gave a small nod. “Very well then,” he murmured gently, his muzzle tilting back over his shoulder to give a nod in the direction the rest of the small pack lay. It was a short walk to them, and he only extended the expectation that she would follow through his body language. His walk was swift, though the large leader moved with an agility and grace that had only become so crafted through his age as his paws made sure to avoid the sticks and stones that would disrupt the others.

“We leave at daybreak,” he offered her, his tone hushing even more so as they came upon the others. His eyes fell worriedly to the three sleeping form of his cubs – two, the palest of white, and one, the deepest of ebony. With one final glance to the she-wolf who had newly joined their ranks, he motioned with his muzzle that it wise she settled closer to him – when the others awoke, they would certainly have questions why a new face was settled amongst them, and he desired no turmoil between his pack mates. Not when they had other priorities ahead of them, and a rather arduous journey.

As he settled his form close to his children, wrapping them in his warmth and safety, sleep would still not find the ever vigilante wolf – not with so much at risk.
