Kassander Mikhailovich

The boy watched as the pup corrected him on one thing and Kassander nodded. "Kave has Tunnelh." He repeated, his words slipping slightly as he went through the words at a faster rate than before. The boy answered his question, stating one of the herbs correctly. Kassander nodded as he tried to find right words from words he had heard before. "Mother taught herbs English. Arnica. Black Hawthorne. Lavender hyssop. Ergot." He motioned to each of the distinct herbs as he went through their names. "Arnica treat bruises, sprains, cuts." He said slowly as he tried to figure out more words on his own. He offered the boy a small smile, hoping that Titan could understand his choppy English. He was not teaching his teacher healing. He gazed at the bright yellowed colored flower that only bloomed in May, June, July, and August.

He than moved on to the next one, another gentle nudge, this time moving the black hawthorn forward. It was a shrub has thorny branches, fan-shaped green leaves, and white flowers with greenish centers that grow in bunches at the end of each branch. "Black Hawthorn. Eat help blood flow and help chest pain." He said slowly as he tried to form his words more carefully. He allowed time for the pup to examine the things and then he moved the grain-like substance forward. "Ergot. Help headache. Stop bleeding. If still on grain then cause burning owwies and restricts blood flow." He had less issues when it came to figuring out different cases as such because he had never been raised to know the Russian form of things such as that, his mother wouldn't have it. He then moved to the last one. "Lavender hyssop. Helps calm minds." He finished with a small grin. He had been decent that time.

Titan Thorben
Titan's black tail wagged as Kassander's speech began to sound... better. The Thorben cocked his ears listening to the unique lilt of the Russian wolfs voice. Not only did the accent make him listen more closely, but it mystified the young male. He wondered if there were more wolves like Kassander who spoke a language different than his own. Though the young Thorben was confused as to why Kass' mother would teach him the english words for the herbs instead of teaching them in the other language.

As the light gray and rust male spoke on about Arnica's uses he nodded happily soaking in the new information. Thoroughly happy to be learning something useful, Titan didn't even think to ask Kassander how to even use the herb correctly.

The dark male looked over the herbs repeating each by name many times within his head. Unknowingly Titan was using the same memorization technique that his mother used for remembering Hellebore and the names of the Lagina family that Kino had taught her.

This one is arnica, yeah I know that one for sure...Then this one with the spikey stems was Black hawthorn...Black hawthorn.Black hawthorn.Black hawthorn.Black hawthorn.Black hawthorn... Titan repeated in his head while sniffing the plant and viewing its physical characteristics. He noticed the strange shape of the green leaves that arched like the opened tail feathers of a sparrow. Then he sniffed the nice smell of the white flowers on the ends of the branches. Black hawthorn. Titan thought quietly while he tail wagged at the thought that unlike the earlier plants Simaea had shown him this one didn't seem to have too much danger.

"All helpful herbs can kill if too much is eaten" Titan remembered Simaea's words though not quite exactly as she had said them. Tentatively he nibbled the tip of a leaf to see what the plant tasted like. It had a strange unpleasant taste and Titan let his tongue stick out while he shook his head to clear the taste from his mouth. Distracted by Kassanders movements the silver coated black pup turned his gaze to look at the next herb.

At first he looked over the assorted grains and narrowed his eyes in suspicion.

"These plants are all over the place...In the meadow, at the lagoon, and even down by Willow Ridge pack." These things are herbs? He questioned privately within his mind as Titan looked over the grainy plants. As he looked at the plants he realized that they seemed to be at least two different looking grasses there; barley and oats, which was unknown to the boy as he looked down upon them.

Wait... What did he mean by "if still on grain"... Titan cocked his head sniffing the plants all over. It took him a full two minutes before he realized that Kassander was showing him the fungus on the grains and not the grass plants themselves. "Oh..OOOooohhhh.. Ergot is this little stuff growing on the grass?" It wasn't so much a question but more of a revelation to the dark wolf as he held his eye barely three inches away from a piece of grain covered in ergot.

Ergot... ergot. ergot.ergot.ergot.ergot.ergot.ergot...ergot grows on these grasses...and it helps with headaches..umm.. and stops wolves from bleeding if eaten. He repeated slowly in his head wasting even more of the healers time as Titan tried to memorize the materials in front of him.

"Wow there are so many..." Titan realized that the things brought out of their crevices were only a few of many herbs sitting in the cave. How many others could help wolves heal?

Kassander Mikhailovich

They boy seemed to understand him fairly well and with that Kassander offered a small grin. He was getting the hang of teaching and English, and everything this pack had to offer had aided him so much in his attempt to blend into the land. He took a small breathe as the boy repeated about being on the grain causing bad things and Kassander nodded. "Yees. There are many." He said with a smile as he took them and put them back. He took out the scrub pine and solomon's seal. The two had taken forever for him to find but he had found them. "Scrub Pine, Solomon's Seal. Scrub Pine help bone pain. Helps muscles calm." He offered up the best explanation he had for the one until moving to the next.

He then pointed his snout at the seal. "Solomon's Seal helps insomnia, indigestion, lung sickness, healing broken bones." He explained to the boy who seemed so eager. The words were a struggle to get out properly but he managed to pull it off. His light fur rump settled in the ground and he looked at the pup. His eyes were calm as he waited for a reaction for the lesson to continue. He felt as if he wasn't putting enough impact, but hopefully it would work out in the end. Kass looked at the herbs, taking in the calming scent. He loved herbs, it was part of why he did what he did. His breathing was as steady as his sturdy and stout paws.

Titan Thorben
I goofed while counting posts. We need only one more for those skill points.

Titan grinned back at the gray male then nosed the lavender hyssop. It smelled very nice and held a soothing fragrance that Titan quite liked. Observing the purple flowers of the new plant and its herb green long thin leaves, the young Thorben repeated the name and use of the plant in his head just like the others. Lavender hyssop, lavender hyssop, lavender hyssop, lavender hyssop, lavender hyssop, lavender hyssop, lavender hyssop, used to calm and soothe wolves when eaten. He thought quietly while practically burying his nose into the flowers and enjoying their scent.

While his nose was buried in the soothing fragrance, Titan's dark blue eyes trailed on Kassander as the male proceeded to take out two more herbs from within the glittering limestone walls shadowy crevices. Picking his head up slowly Titan observed the next two plants that were added to the ever growing list of piles lined up on the floor of the cave.

He was so happy to be learning about plants who didn't kill for once. Instead now he would know about things that would help others. However he was starting to get the names mixed up, and Titan was wondering whether he would be able to remember all of them in a day or two after learning the things.

Tossing his cautiousness aside, Titan lowered himself down once more to look at the two new herbs placed on the floor. If he hadn't known better the Thorben boy would have thought that one things was a part of a tree.

Looking at the scrub pine first, the black wolf sniffed the plant and observed its calloused bark along the stem. Is this from a tree? Titan asked quietly wondering if he had seen this tree anywhere before. It looked somewhat familiar to the young male as his eyes scraped over the pine needles and counted the number of needles in each bunch. Scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, scrub pine, it helps with bone pain and for calming the muscles... He repeated quietly within his mind before switching his gaze to the next herb.

Looking over the Solomon's seal, Titan noticed it's strange sharp scent compared to the others. Surely with a scent like that this thing would taste bitter as heck! he thought while crinkling up his nose guarding against the powerful scent. Titan silently wished that all the herbs smelled as nice as the arnica and lavender hyssop.

Solomon's seal, solomon's seal, solomon's seal, solomon's seal, solomon's seal, solomon's seal, solomon's seal, helps with insomnia, indigestion, lung sickness, and healing broken bones. Titan made sure to repeat this much like the others. However this herbs unique name was hard not to remember for him cause it made Titan chuckle a bit. I mean really who names a plant Solomon? He glanced to @Kassander knowing that his lesson was soon to be over. Titan quickly racked his brain, now full with information, and tried desperately to recall all the herbs laid out before him. He couldn't believe that in only such a short time he could remember and name all the herbs laid out. However the dark Thorben knew that he was not as smart as his brother and would have to practice the names and recall their uses in order to truly remember and learn them.

Getting up and dipping his head in a clear farewell gesture Titan smiled happily to the gray and cream wolf. Thank you so much for helping me learn these. Is it okay if I come in here to practice naming the herbs? I promise I will keep it clean in here for you. Titan begged while cocking his head in puppyish curiosity. Once an answer was given the dark boy wagged his tail then backed away to leave Kassander with his medicine den. Titan would definitely be back to practice. He was sure of it.

Kassander Mikhailovich

He was so happy he was understanding more and more of the language of the natives to the land. It was a strange one, that was for sure. He knew that it was completely opinionated because he was sure his language sounded equally as strange to them but he was confident that he could learn and who knew, perhaps he could teach Russian to young Titan. It could be like their own super fun secret language for when they were talking to each other or something. Like, a secret healer's codeword or something. He didn't know what the young boy thought of the lowly immigrant but he was confident in the fact that the young boy was going to be a great healer. It was something that Kass knew to be a good thing since they could both help the pack with all they had.

The boy asked him a question that he understood parts of. He nodded when he realized it was him asking if he could stay and study by himself. "Okay!" He said the word clearly, it was a word he had learned in his time within the pack. All the knowledge he was absorbing in Whisper Caverns, it would last him an eternity. Not just a lifetime, it would last an eternity. His tail wagged as he left the young boy to his work. Kassander had a plan of his own, the freak storm had seemingly ended and so Kass would give a try at hunting for the pack a bit. It was spring and food would be returning. Not just that but it would be plentiful so it was the perfect time for Kass to show some other skills.
