Pacem Hervok
@Silentium @Unitas @Nina perhaps?

The soft black prince had been squirming around for a while as his eyes slowly blinked open. It was all so strange, so new. Pacem wasn't sure how to react to them because he had been so accustomed to the darkness that had filled all his life until that moment. His eyes flickered closed as the darkness he knew and loved reappeared before he blinked his eyes open again. It so… so strange that there was more things in the world than darkness. He saw giant blobs, one of them he was snuggled up against and he knew it to be his mother. There were two next to him too, those must be his siblings! "Mmmmm-M-M---Mu?" He couldn't get the words out and it all sounded distorted in his puppy voice.

Pacem Hervok was not one to sit and stay when he was told do and so his legs wobbled underneath him as he tried to stand up on his paws for the first time. They wobbled and he collapsed, his legs splayed out on either side of him and a small frown graced his muzzle. Why was it all so difficult? "Mmmm-Mu-Mmmm." He tried to murmur out once more to get his mother's attention but he had even less success from before. He looked up at the giant blob he knew to be his mother with a frown. His puppy blue eyes filled with some unknown emotion. Was this all there was? Fuzzy shapes? Was it just him? It was terrible and he let out a small whine. He wanted to roam around the giant fuzzy world but he couldn't and he wouldn't. Pacem was his name, at least that much he knew. But what else did he know?

All he knew was darkness. There were voices – some that were new, others that were reoccurring and familiar – but he did not know who they belonged to. Along with these voices, there was also an array of different smells, each one both mysterious and intriguing. The shadow prince yearned to discover who these different sounds and smells belonged to, but food was far more important. The warmth of his mother’s pelt, along with the small bodies of his brothers, also belonged in the ‘important’ category, but food remained his number one priority. He was constantly hungry, his little stomach begging for his small limbs to drag him toward his mother’s stomach. Even when he had his fill he was still hungry, soft whines falling off his tongue as he kneaded blindly at his mother.

Without warning, after rolling across the floor of the den, his eyes suddenly blinked open. Startled by the brightness a small yelp escaped his small body, his baby blues immediately closing to block out the unknown light. He scrambled toward the scents of his brother, Pacem, his small body rolling across the dirt. His movements ceased as a strange, new voice called out – it was weak, broken… different from the others. Confused, his eyes blinked open once more, his baby blues squinting as he searched his surroundings. Where had the voice come from? Shapes filled his vision, dark and blurry, as his head spun around in search of the new sound.

Unitas continued to drag his body forward until he collided with his brother, another yelp escaping him as his eyes studied the dark, fuzzy shape of Pacem. Was this who the voice belonged to? Why was he able to speak? Could he do that as well?

Life in her den had been quite peaceful. None had bothered interrupting her and Mirren would occasionally come to see if she would need anything and would attend to her. Otherwise, all three of her sons were quite content with taking their full from what she could offer, which was as much as she could give as a single parent. She had yet to think of what she would tell them when they were old enough to understand. How would she be able to communicate to them that they didn't have a father? She certainly did not like Miccah enough to allow him the privilege and she felt that Mirren was still too young to have such a burden put on his shoulders. Bane and Ashton were obviously out of the question; they deserved to live their lives and did not need to grow up too fast. Nina wanted her other two sons to live their lives the way that they wanted to, and that meant no attachments to her.

She was brought out of her thoughts by the movement of her pups, and Nina's single eye followed the small form a Pacem, a small amused smile on her gaze as he attempted to speak and stand, before ending up collapsed on the den floor. Huffing softly, she picked him up gently by the scruff, she placed him next to her belly for warm, her head shaking slightly. Such a curious boy he was, definitely to be a handful when he got older. The eldest of her second liter was easily trying to get her attention by nudging her belly, and Nina gently ran her tongue over his head in a soothing motion, her emerald eye filled with happiness. She had always thought of children, and this was her second liter, surprisingly. They were all she would have left of Hollow and they were hers. This time, there would be no such thing as, an accident for any of them. Nina would keep a special eye on them and make it clear to her pack that they were to do the same as well. She moved her darlings and paid the utmost attention to all three of them.

Silentium Hervok
Note: Silentium's hearing ear is pressed against Nina's belly so he can't hear anything

Silentium had been sleeping peacefully through the whole ordeal, his left side pressed up snuggly against his mother's side, his right ear relaxed. Though it was yet to be discovered this appendage would never be anything but relaxed, it wouldn't absorb any sound, it would never hear. As such he had not heard Pacem's attempts at speech or Unitas' squeals and had just continued on in his slumber. That is until the warm body of his mother moved, whimpering his disproval he adjusted his body according so he was once more snuggled into her side. Yawning the boy was ready to settle back down and continue on his nap when Unitas' paws missed Nina's belly and instead collided with his side. Crying out the blonde pup's blue eyes flew open to his surprise.

It was overwhelming these new sights, the large blurry shape of his mother, the smaller blobs that must be his brothers. Most of all though, was the distorted shape at the opening of the cave, the strange yellow thing that came in through it, what was that thing? Staring towards the entrance Silentium made no move to get any closer, instead content to just look at it from the safety of his mother's side, still enclosed in silence. Little did he know as a pup his skills would always be slightly behind his brothers, he would not talk until well after they did, it would take him much longer to learn the lessons his mother taught. Pacem continued to call out a strange Mmmm sound but it was all lost to the blonde pup, how long would the boy live without hearing a sound?

A strange thing that smelled like his mother picked him up by the scruff and so he started flailing, kicking, and squealing. He was settled back down next to his mother where he curled up and pushed his head as far as he could towards her stomach, even pushing on it with his eyes closed. She was warm, so was Silentium, and so was Unitas. He liked the warm, but he wanted to explore! He moved around and squirmed again as he tried to crawl under his mother, figuring the more of him in contacted his mother than the warmer he could be. He gave another soft squeal as he did so. He had given up on talking for the day and would try again tomorrow.

His ears flicked back as he tried to block out the squeals of Unitas.

He noticed, for the first time, some strange yellow blob coming from the other direction of them. "BBBBBBBB. BBBBBBBBll." He tried to get the word out as he let his head look over to the strange blob. He tried to stand up again, his knees wobbling as he tried to take a step but fell over again with another shocked squeal. Sometimes it took him a few tries to learn about what he couldn't do. There was a pbbfft sound as he hit the dirt, his paws in front of him and his back legs splayed out behind him. "Bwwwaa." He tried to say blob as he tried to stand up once more. Persistence is key.

Unitas Hervok
The sounds his brother made were strange, but Unitas desperately wanted to repeat them. He was curious as to how he was able to make such noises. He blinked slowly, absorbing the details of his family members and their den as his tiny head spun around. There was so much to see; the darkness was now gone, only temporarily appearing whenever his eyes randomly closed. He didn’t know why they did that, whenever he tried to keep them open his baby blues began to burn and he was forced to close them briefly. A soft frown rolled onto his tiny maw as he rolled onto his back, tiny legs kicking into the air as he struggled to think of a sound to make. His tongue flopped uselessly in his mouth as he attempted to make some sort of proper sound.

“Pbbbfffttttt,” he mumbled incoherently, his brows narrowed in determination as the noise fell from his maw. It wasn’t anything spectacular, but it was good enough for the shadow prince. Feeling accomplished the swung back onto his stomach, his tiny paws digging at the ground as he shuffled toward the warmth of his mother. Being away from her was cold, and Unitas didn’t like being cold. He preferred being curled up next to his mother, with or without the warmth of his brothers beside him. He just wanted mom… and food. Mostly food.

As he continued toward his mother she had cut his movements short, her jaws wrapping carefully around his scruff as she brought him back against her stomach. Perfect. As much as he wanted to explore the confinements of their den, being warm (at least for now) was nice.

She loved her children dearly and gazed at them with such affection. Pacem and Unitas seemed to be the rowdy two of her liter. She was not sure if she should have been quite concerned, but she knew that Silentium didn't seem to want to engage in the activities that his brothers were engaged in. As she watched the two boys try to walk, she couldn't help the amused smile that passed over her dark lips. Never had she expected her liter to be as curious as this. After all, Tacoma, Ashton, and Danica had always been completely content to stay within the confines of their den for several weeks before they even attempted such feats as her little ones. Of course, the Hervok would never allow them to go too far, in fears that they would suffer a similar fate to what Tacoma had fallen to.

Turning her single-eyed gaze down to her second oldest pup, Nina gently nudged him away from her belly, to the point of where he was no longer pressed up against her. She was hoping that this would encourage him to do what his brothers were doing and partake in their learning experience. Softly, she let her voice carry over her angels, ”You are starting to get the hang of it, my dears. It will just take some practicing!” Her tone was light and lifted, pleased that her children were at least trying to explore. It meant that they were curious, but would also be a handful to her. Nina certainly did not mind though, as long as they remained safe, she would allow them to learn through trial and error, just as she had done with Danica, Ashton, and Tacoma.

Silentium Hervok

Suddenly he was cold and the ground was no longer underneath his paws and Silentium squealed again in protest at this development. Once more landing on the ground his blue eyes searching for the blurry form of his mother before they finally found her. Squeaking out to her he wished for her to bring him to her belly again but when she didn't a tiny growl escaped his small body. Determined to once more get back to the warmth that was his mother his tiny blonde limbs flailed around beneath him. After a long few moments of effort Silentium managed to get his front paws beneath him and then the back. Encouraged by this new feat he went to take a step forward, but slipped instead and landed hard on his muzzle.

Instantly a cry rose from the boy as he wailed about the sharp pain that had struck his muzzle when he landed in the dirt. It didn't hurt bad anymore of course but the pup was still upset that it had hurt at any point at all. Temporarily placated by his mother's voice Silentium was quiet, until she stopped talking. Figuring that it was his crying that had caused the pleasant sounds his mother made he once more began crying, to test his theory. He liked to listen when his mother talked to them, even if he didn't understand what any of the noises meant he thought she had a very pretty voice. Laying in the dirt Silentium closed his eyes and whimpered, every once and a while half heartedly rubbing at his nose as if it still hurt.

Sorry this took so long

He noted the blob of one of his brothers was still sitting there, not moving from beside their mother. Unitas was doing as he was until he seemed to give up and the blob reemerged with his mother. He wasn't ready to give up yet though. He would give a determined look as he tried once more to stand up on his wobbling paws. His eyes were narrowed as his legs shook. It was like the ground was being taken out from under him as he fell once more. He gave a look of disappointment. He tried to speak once more to get a hang of what he could say. "Mmm... mmmmuuuuu..." He failed to say mum like he intended as he attempted to crawl back towards the warmth of his mother's stomach.

He managed to stand and turn towards his mother before falling again. He rolled slightly to curl up against his mother's stomach in exhaustion. He could try again after a nice long nap. All that moving around and stuff was hard work and he felt tired as he buried his head in his mother's stomach so he could drift into a peaceful sleep. His eyes slowly started to drift closed and his mind drifted to far away places. Everything was perfect in his little world. He had a mother who loved him and two brothers to play with. He assumed he had a dad who checked on them. He had no idea that his dad was in some place far away from where he was, abandoning the pack by disappearing in a storm.

Unitas Hervok
As much as he wanted to continue attempting this whole walking business, being curled up against his mother’s stomach seemed like a much better idea. After a nap he could make another attempt – sleep was all he cared about right now. The small ball of fluff curled into a ball, his back pressed against the warmth of his mother’s stomach as he allowed his denim-blue eyes to slowly blink shut. Growing up was exhausting! Each attempt at standing and walking needed to be immediately followed by a nap – he was only able to practice for so long before his legs (and eyes) grew weary. The more he practiced, however, the sooner he could explore the area outside the den! The thought excited the Hervok prince, but he was far too tired to make any more attempts. All he wanted was to nap alongside his brothers and his mother.

He soon felt the warmth of his brother Pacem join him, and the pudgy pup grew more comfortable as sleep drew closer. Soon he would into a slumber filled with the adventures that he and his brothers would soon have. He couldn’t wait to explore the outside world along his mother and brothers – there was so much to see, and so much to learn! His head buzzed with excitement as sleep began to grab hold of Unitas, his baby blues eventually closing completely as he shut out the fuzzy figures of his family. Once he woke he could begin his practicing once more… but for now, it was nap time. And nap time was very important for the tired pup.

Exit.
