Iopah Reinier
@Kite!

Under the tall, tangled canopy of the thicket three deer waited for the hunters. Sunlight dappled on their hides as stiff ears searched out the wolves they knew were there. Iopah had only seconds to study them. They were ready to run, and even if they wouldn't feel the sharp eyes, it would be only a minute before it happened. In those brief seconds gold eyes ran up and down the length of them. For the adults she could see only the speed their limbs offered. It was close and dense in the thicket, too close for a long chase. The memory of a terrible thing makes her turn back to the fawn and it's injury.

It is then that the second breaks and the deer bolt. They are running, plunging through swaying vines and trembling ferns.

They bolted in one direction, headed for the densest part of the thicket where even the slenderest wolf could not pass. Iopah spent no time watching and before answering Kite she was lunging after them. They needed to catch them before they reached the impenetrable heart of the forest. With their backs to it they could make a stand. Slashing hooves could gravely wound or kill, Iopah would not allow neither. If the deer reached it there were safe.

With the deer bounding in her vision and the pounding of her heart and cloven hooves in her ears she had to trust Kite was beside her. "The fawn." She called out, cleanly leaping the vegetation in her path. The deer were running together, even though the fawn was slowing. If the adults could be sent packing the fawn would be easy to take down. With a strong surge she ran up beside it and pushed her shoulder into it. With any luck it would stumble off-course. With any luck the adults would not come back for it....
