RE: There is a meteor shower tonight (August 1)
@Lachesis! Set at Midnight.
The date on RE is just for reference, the thread is dated for today (August 12)
Sleep was a foreign word as the dark woman roamed the length of her home, sticking near the border where the soft crunch of her feet against dry grass perked her ears. She had no need to be on high alert, the pack was nestled in the midst of thicket foliage and any foolish trespasser would soon turn tail and run when they caught sight of Maksim, their burly leader. She admired the older male, he stayed true to his promise and had welcomed her into the pack with no judgement with expectation that she would carry her weight--she appreciated him solely for this purpose. He was male of few words and yet he made such an impact, in fact he had not been the only one but she didn't dare think of the alabaster male for fear of angering herself over the fact that she had not been chosen over Capella, the deserter. Her scent had become more faint on the land and Bastet had noticed much less of the sunflower colored eyed girl and she wondered about Lachesis, and how he was adjusting to her disappearance, there was no doubt in her mind that her leaving would cripple him.

At the thought a twisted smile crept the length of her black lined lips, she had far less friendly thoughts about the younger male, in fact she felt a sense of satisfaction over him pain and yet she would not pull herself to face him. She did not know how she would react if they were in the same area once more. Thoughts of their last encounter played like a cinema in her head and she cringed at her stupidity, she had lead her feelings toward him and now she was damaged. She doubted she could trust him, or any male for that matter but she'd stick with him for him. After giving her head a quick shake to dismiss these thoughts, she settled to her haunches beneath the bright orb of the moon and allowed her eye lids to cover cloud her vision; this was her element.

<3! long post is long. thank you again for starting! :)
He needed to stay busy; that was the key.

Stay busy and take care of the pack.

It was the only way Lachesis could distract himself. He knew the first night her presence was absent from their den that she was gone. Where, he did not know; but why, that’s what he wanted – no, needed to know. She had left once before, when they had followed a different leader, and that had been due to her brother’s scent trail. The sunflower-eyed girl had promised she would alert him before leaving once more… she had broken that promise, and Lachesis wasn’t sure what to think. Of course the slender male wanted her to return and for everything to return back to normal, but would she disappear once more? What was the reasoning behind this disappearance? The pale vixen had been there for him during Anastasia’s disappearance – why would she put him through the same thing?

No. He would not allow himself to fall back into the sullen creature he had turned into after losing Anastasia. XIX was still deeply affected by her absence, but it was nowhere close to how awful he had felt after returning from the mountain. Although he was deeply hurt and confused by Capella’s departure, he could not fall back into old habits. There were puppies to take care of now – there was no time to be self-centered and withdrawn.

Lachesis had spent the day busying himself with his healer duties – collecting herbs and tending to his inventory, but he couldn’t stay long in the den. Her scent lingered and left an uncomfortable weight in his stomach, so he had resorted to sleeping outside or not sleeping at all. Tonight was one of those sleepless nights. The higher the moon climbed the further Lachesis ventured away from his den. The cool night air was refreshing, and distracted him from his troubled thoughts. At least until he caught scent of a familiar female, one who also held a special place in his heart.

Panic flooded his system as he ceased his movements, his pear-coloured eyes widening at the thought of their previous encounter. He had not seen much of the ashen female; for a while he had worried that she left the pack, but her scent was still strong in the land. He would be lying if he said he didn’t miss her. Where Capella was a tall glass of water on a hot summer’s day, Bastet was a shot of whiskey; she was exotic and a spitfire, something that the slender male was not used to. Both Capella and Anastasia had calm demeanors, and were predictable – Bastet was definitely not.

Although he could barely make out her dark figure in the moonlight, the deer-legged healer remained where he was. He felt as though he was intruding, even though he desperately wanted to close the distance between the two.

@Lachesis!

As she sat she felt a change in the atmosphere, the sudden difference made her open her eyes as a brilliant meteor show displayed in front of her. She shivered at her spot with expectation from this event; surely it meant something. The beautiful colors captivated her, and no sooner did the meteor begin to disappear did she catch his scent, it was a mixture of herbs and a heavenly musk that sent her body on edge--not here, not now--she thought as she attempted to ignore his presence.

Despite her best efforts, it seemed as if her thoughts had brought the ghostly male to her and she turned to face him, her eyes began to search him with scrutiny as if they were to cherry-pick each feature of him that she remembered. Her displeasure of his company was obvious, she did not wish to be in the same area as the gangly male, and yet she could not find the energy to leave. He captivated her in way she wished he hadn't and it bothered her regardless of her best efforts to fight the feelings bubbling in her stomach. She couldn't shake her feelings for him that remained buried in a depth that she had thus far begin to forget, and here he stood to bring them back up once more.

He stood at his spot and inwardly she praised him, it was probably in his best interest not to approach her as he would have previously, not when she wanted nothing more then to harm him as he had her. The only movement that came was from her velvet ears as they perked and pushed tightly on her skull in silent warning, she was not ready for his sulking, she did not want to hear about his pain, she was selfish in her feelings and yet her eyes seemed to plea for him to advance. The battle she fought within was a fierce and confusing one. Saliva laid thick on her tongue as she studied him further, there was no doubt in her mind that the energy between them was strong but she would fight it for as long as she could. She assumed that she knew what he wanted, she was one of the many friends he had left, and yet she did not want to speak of Capella, she wanted to speak about them and their relationship, it had never left her memory; what about Bastet and Lachesis?

@Bastet <3!
As much as he wanted to seek the warmth of her pelt for comfort XIX could not bring himself to put Bastet through that once again. The last time they had crossed paths he had unintentionally hurt her – something that could not fathom doing once more. While she intended to avoid him, Lachesis could not help but still care for the exotic female. After he and Maksim had brought her back to his infirmary the medic had done everything in his power to ensure that she would survive. His heart had swelled with joy when her strength returned, and XIX had been disappointed to see her leave his den after she had been accepted among the Cut Rock ranks. At the time he had Anastasia also sharing the space, who had not been particularly fond of allowing another female to rent out a section of the den.

Now, with the absence of Capella, the gangly medic was heartbroken – but he refused to let it show. He did not want to dump his thoughts on the female once more; it wasn’t fair. She had done everything to raise his spirits during their last encounter, and Lachesis had done nothing but push her away. His pear-coloured gaze lifted from her shadowy figure and turned to the sky, just in time to see a flurry of meteors fill the sky. Absorbed by the strange phenomenon Nineteen allowed his troubled thoughts to drift away… while he had suffered too much loss in such a short period of time, he could not allow it to consume him once more. Of course he could grieve Capella’s unannounced disappearance, but he could not allow it to affect him as severely as Anastasia’s had. Although he knew, in his heart, that the pain was much worse, he would swallow it and press forward.

Allowing his gaze to return to the raven-coloured female his features softened immediately. He knew that she didn’t want him here, but he wouldn’t leave. He needed to fix this; he had to fix this. While he posture clearly screamed get away from me! Lachesis stepped forward, his long legs closing the unwanted distance between them. He stopped several tail-lengths away from her before lowering his hindquarters; his pear eyes never once wavered from her dark from. His tongue lay heavy between his jaws as his mind frantically searched for something to say.

What was there to say? He wanted to tell her that he missed her, and that his previous actions had left a bitter taste in his mouth. He wanted to comfort her, to be close to her once more… but he also felt as though he was betraying Capella. His head began to throb as a flurry of thoughts devoured his mind… he was lost. XIX desperately wanted to mend the relationship he had strained. He knew that he cared for Bastet in a way that mirrored the feelings he had for Capella, and it hurt both his heart and mind to allow those thoughts to surface.

@ Lachesis! I've been trying to find the perfect way for her to react to this, I hope this is okay!

She tensed as he neared her, seeming to flinch as though his approach brought her pain and discomfort. Her fierce gaze remained locked on the pear colored eyes of his own as he situated on his hindquarters without a word and she immediately showed his displeasure with a warning growl, his ears pressed tighter on his head. Her gaze was like ice as she stared intensely, and before she could do anything the words slipped from her jaws "What are you doing Lachesis?" her voice was just as icy as it cut the tension with a blunt knife. She could understand why he was here, but what did he want with her, he'd already made his choice and clearly Bastet had not been his initial decision. She hated being second best, especially to a wolf she'd thought to give her emotions to and to have them smash it without remorse was the ultimate worst. She would be sure that Lachesis knew that she would not tolerate being toyed with.

As the words lingered in the air she couldn't help wondering where Capella had gone and whether she would be coming back soon. If she did, would this awkward meeting be a waste, would it be worthwhile for her to once more admit how much he'd hurt her and how she still cared for him despite this? Would he care to know that she thought of him everyday since that moment of both good and bad ideas--would he be angry if she admitted that she was happy Capella had disappeared. Would he understand her reasoning? She sighed deeply as her shoulder's relaxed and bushy tail dragged against the dirt in a quick wag to accept his advance; though she would accept his presence she would no longer be the initiator. She wanted him to chase her this time around.

It is perfect, as always! <3 Awkward Lach is awkward.
Although she tensed XIX did not cease his movements; he half expected her to snap at him and chase him away. He deserved it. The slender medic had unintentionally played with her emotions in his vulnerable state, and had not known how to respond to her actions. Their previous meeting had replayed in his mind (sometimes even when he had been with Capella) as he struggled to figure out how to fix things between him and the exotic female. He needed to make things right, that he was certain of. Lachesis could no longer stand the tension that had built between them. They lived together in Cut Rock; he wanted to be able to cross paths without feeling as though he should tip toe around her. It was his fault, and the medic was well aware of that – he had screwed up. And he had to be the one to fix it.

However, he wasn’t sure how. Even now, in the presence of the bi-coloured eyed raven female, he was unsure of what to do. She made him nervous – in both a good and bad way. The confidence he had gained over the recent months crumbled away, but his composure remained calm. He could not let her know how nervous he truly was… or perhaps he should? XIX wasn’t sure what was better. All he wanted was the tension between them to dissipate.

“What are you doing Lachesis?”

Her voice stung him, like an angry, disturbed wasp. He did not reply immediately; instead, he allowed her heavily accented voice to linger in his thoughts. It was a voice he had missed in their time apart; a voice that was impossible to forget. Lachesis allowed the silence to consume them once more as he finally tore his gaze away from her. His pear-coloured pools focused on the stars before them as a small frown creased his maw. Words failed him, as always. There were so many things he wanted to say, but he didn’t know how to say them. Anastasia would know. She knew precisely what to say in every type of situation. She had often been his voice when he could not find his, or when he was embarrassed of his stutter. But she was gone, and had been for months – XIX needed to learn how to speak up for himself and voice his own emotions without an interpreter.

The deer-legged medic waited for her tension to subside. His gaze flickered back to her dark form as a sigh ruffled past her lips and her tail wagged in the dirt. It was a small victory, but there was still work to be done. “I wanted to see you,” his voice was small as it broke the silence; his heart thumped erratically in his chest as he fought with his thoughts. And then? His subconscious cooed at him, begging him to spill more words off his tongue. Instead of speaking more Lachesis shuffled closer, his breath hitching in his throat as he prepared himself for a backlash. “I’ve been a shit, and I miss you.” Oh Lachesis, you poet, his mind cooed once more, causing the medic to mentally kick himself for his lame explanation. Idiot.

@Lachesis!

Her head hurt. The swirl of emotions made her stomach churn as she watched him inch closer, the hesitation was evident in his voice and each step her made as he finally situated himself near her. She enjoyed the scent of his musk, it brought back memories that she had yet to erase, and his eyes still shone their usual unique shade of green as she studied him, the words that fell from her tongue could have easily broken the shield she put up but she resisted in an attempt to remain strong. It felt good knowing that he missed her, and she would not feel ashamed in admitting that she missed him too, in fact her heart leaped a million miles in her chest knowing that he'd sought her out and despite her icy personality, he stayed just long enough to speak his peace. It spoke volumes of his character and the ebony female found herself craving his company for a while longer--she would not let him slip past her again. "I've...missed you too." she started with her ears pressed at her head and he facial expressions a bit softer than the moment he'd entered the scene. She wanted this, and she wanted him.

He mentioned being an ass and she felt her head nod in agreement, she could not have said it better herself and yet a small voice in the back of her mind continued to scream at her with a doubt that she could not shake. What of Capella? "What does this mean? What do you want from me then?" she asked him, her eyes searched him with a seriousness that seemed to burn a hole in her chest, she wanted answers and only he could give her them. "do you want to be friends again?" she questioned with a cock of her narrow head. It would be a start, an opportunity for a new beginning but then Bastet found herself pulling back once more, afraid of a commitment to him, she knew that becoming his friend would open old wounds that she did not wish to reopen. What good would loving him do if the feelings were not returned. She waited with renewed patience for his response and half expecting him to place her once more into the friend zone.

@Bastet
Lachesis wasn’t sure how to feel about anything anymore. Those he cared about were slowly disappearing, and he was worried that Bastet was going to be one of them. Luckily Karpos had returned to him, along with his sister; but it didn’t mean that every wolf that left would. While he still hoped that Anastasia was alive and had found another pack to bunker down with, the possibility of the mountain claiming her life was much greater than her surviving. And Capella… perhaps something awful had happened to her as well. Or she had found her brother, who had been her reason for leaving last time.

Remaining positive was proving difficult, but he could not allow his negative emotions to consume him any longer. They had almost driven Bastet away the last time they festered, when she had reached out to him and attempted to console him. That meeting had ended on a very sour note, one that XIX was determined to fix. His pale gaze flickered over to her ebony figure as she spoke, mirroring his words. As she spoke, her foreign accent rolling around the words he had hoped to hear, his heart thumped unexpectedly. Nineteen had expected her to retort with a foul comment, and her soft words were a welcome surprise.

As she spoke once more the long-limbed healer was left stumped, unsure of how to respond to her questions. What did it mean? He wanted her, but he was also confused about what he wanted. He loved Capella, but his feelings for Bastet mirrored what he felt toward the dandelion-eyed girl. What if she returned? Would he abandon the exotic raven? As much as he cared for Capella, he also felt betrayed. She had left, without a word, shortly after they had confessed their feelings for each other. It had been weeks since he had caught her scent in Cut Rock territory… had she left him for good? He needed Bastet, and he needed her to not have resentment toward him. Words caught in his throat as he struggled to find a response for her questions… he couldn’t mess up again. “I want to be friends; I want your company. I don’t want to lose you,” he admitted in a low voice as he allowed his gaze to linger on her features before they fell away to the sky.

@Lachesis!I really suck for making you wait this long for my reply...
Thick saliva formed at the base of her throat as her mismatched colored eyes stared at him intently, questioning his motives. As much as she wanted to hate Lachesis, the emotions she felt for him were real and at times painful; for the moment she felt conflicted. Withdrawing her body from him she allowed her thoughts to wander and the events that lead them up to this moment played like a cinema in her head.

She remembered practically begging him for attention, asking for his feelings to be returned and instead she'd been rejected and his heart belonged then to Capella. It probably always would and the nagging truth bugged her, causing hesitation, but here they stood and he required an answer. She bit her lip as the words failed to form, it wasn't until a few minutes later that she found her voice. "I couldn't bare being without you any further, or losing you." she started, thinking a moment to search for the remainder of her point, "but what does this mean of our relationship... Do want us to be more then just friends? " the question had to be asked.

The elephant in the room loomed over her head and she signed deeply, there was also no doubt in her head that if Capella returned, he would once more be hers. The thought frustrated her. Without missing another beat she fixed her lips to ask the question they were both uncertain about, " what if Capella returns to cut rock, will she once more be yours? " and finally she grew quiet waiting for his response.
