Aurora Thanne
All welcome. I give who ever joins the thread the ability to assume that they have been secretly feeding Rory since Athena's disappearance...

RE: There have been an unusual number of foxes being sighted around Relic Lore.

She coughed in her sleep, shifting from one side to another before finally lifting her head to search the darkness of her den. The stench of her mother and father had become to grow stale and yet Rory lingered within in, sleeping in her exact spot in case either one decided to return and give her the warmth and comfort she so desperately deserved. Since their disappearance the young Thanne had become skin and bone, her lithe frame seemed too small to keep her alive and yet she remained a sturdy and strong wolf with a determination that burned in her heart to show through her pale eyes. She was a fighter, had been since birth, and would remain as she aged; with or without her parents.

Her legs were stilts as she walked, the brightness of the sun warmed the sunken cavities of her body as she broke through the mouth of the den and settled to a shaky sit just outside of it. Since her parent's disappearance she had seen so few of her pack mates, in fact she could only recall the briefest of meetings with them and now they were but a memory. It seemed that she too had become but a memory to them. Being the only pup in the Caverns would usually have its perks and yet Rory found herself left out of so many events and meetings, as though she were forgotten with the absence of parents. She sighed and waited, for what she did not know, but she had known that eventually food would appear at the entrance and she could shake the weakness for one more day. After all this time she had yet to see the wolf who secretly fed her but she thanked them inwardly, wondering why they were so kind to take care of her when her mother did not even want her; what made this wolf so different?

Silver
These past weeks had been unusual of sorts to say the least. Silver had been taking up feeding the abandon child Rory, she was awfully disgusted that not one but both the parents left the child alone. Sure the child had the pack but surely she wanted her parents too. They played an important role in development for a young one. For the time being though Silver would step up to the plate.

Another strange thing was all the foxes around. She just so happened was lucky enough to see one and snag it after a little chase and growls between the two. So in her jaws hung the body of a medium-sized fox. Trotting along she quickly sniffed the winds to catch the familiar scent of Rory. Moving towards were the child was bound to be she noticed her. Wagging her tail behind her slowly she smiled awkwardly with the fox still in her jaws. Dropping it to the ground she also quickly moved herself to lay on the ground before the young girl.

"Rory," Straining her neck a bit she offered a caring nose to the shoulder of the other. "It's good to see you out and about." Wondering if the child would recognize her she figured it might just be best to ask for herself. "You know who I am, don't you?" As much as she was hoping the young might say yes the dark female wouldn't be surprised it she wasn't fully aware of just exactly who she was.

@Silver

While in wait the young Thanne lowered to her stomach, enjoying the sensation that cool dirt gave as shadows from the afternoon sun fell along the honey hairs of her back. She did not quite know what the sun was, nor its purpose, but she enjoyed the light it provided and the relief that came when it disappeared and was replaced by a illuminating moon. She was a night child, and would probably remain so until the the dancing stars no longer gave her the feeling of being watched over--secretly she pretended that her mother was watching over her from the stars.

The sound of someone calling her name snapped her back to attention and she lifted to all fours when Silver approached with a dangling creature in her jaws. The russet pelt and strange smell made her head turn with confusion but she lingered in her spot to exchange glances between a potential meal and the wolf who held it securely in their jaws; was she supposed to approach? She was not sure whether this creature was edible but the stench from this distance made her stomach growl with anticipation and her rump danced side to side as her tail wagged swiftly behind her to signify her happiness. She had been waiting for this moment when the mysterious wolf would bring her food and finally they had come but they spoke way too fast and asked words that Rory could not understand, her language development was like that of a 2 month old as she stared at her counterpart but her body spoke volumes as she came toward Silver cautiously. Ears slicked back on her skull, shoulders low and tail tucked between her legs she lifted to give Silver's chin a few quick licks before tugging lightly at the kill to signify her acceptance of this gift.

Silver

When she didn't answer back she assumed that the child was merely shy. As Silver should have known better than to rush the child with questions. Certainly this would be an awkward meeting for the two of them. Firstly becauase Silver knew little about the child and secondly the child knew little about her.

Making sure her body was still low against the ground Silver stretched out her hind legs behind her. Giving her hind legs the appearance like that of a frog. "I'm Silver." Her voice was soft and slow. Not as fast and loud as it had been before. The dark older female was hoping that if her voice was more slow and soothing it would be more comforting to the young child. Maybe it wouldn't help but she wouldn't know or not until she tried it.

Keeping the smile stuck to her face Silver watched with joy as Rory tugged on the fox she wondered what exactly the child thought of it. Surely Rory's little head was filled with wondrous thoughts. Lost in her own thoughts Silver wondered if that was why she never spoke. Perhaps Rory was so deep in her thoughts she forgot to even speak to others. The thought was an amusing one but it might have been the truth.

Wondering if it was time to say something else to the child the dark woman licked her black lips before opening her mouth slowly. "You like it?" Hopefully that would be somewhere the two could start talking more. If Rory did like the fox than it would make hunting for the child easier.

Sorry for the wait @Silver!

Excitement filled her small body as she tugged on the kill, this time successfully taking it out of the woman's mouth and watching as it landed with a soft thud to the ground. She approached it with renewed interest and nipped at the tough skin before finding the puncture wound that had ended its life and chewed away at the fat. What little that she took into her mouth made her stomach growl with anticipation, so much so that she had forgotten about Silver until she spoke a second time to her, this time giving a name. Rory stood still momentarily and her head cocked to the side in jester but she took the name and stored it into her brain; this was Silver and she was good.

Greedily she ate, so loudly her smacking became that she barely heard the remainder of the woman's words but she read her body language and it remained neutral, a signal that Rory had not crossed a border. It hadn't occurred to her until the tail of the fox was nearly gone that she should probably should offer her gracious host a nibble or two but her voice had failed her weeks ago and she could not find the words to ask if she wished to participate. Licking her lips she took a moment to enjoy the metallic taste of blood before slowly approaching Silver to give her a glance and then back to the stiff kill before nudging the woman's leg with a smile on her lips. Although she thoroughly enjoyed the meal she found it rude to leave the woman out, but a small part of her childish mind hoped that the woman would decline she wanted the rest to herself and obviously needed it. "Some?" she questioned, her yellow eyes focused on those of Silver's before she grew silent.
