Sex: Female Narime pushed her way through the underbrush until she spotted the dark fur of Titan and the other she wolf. She didn't hear the harsh but hushed words her son had spoken to Enoki, but she felt a flash of heartache as Titan complained loudly about her being there. She ignored the rude and hurtful comment reminding herself that the young Thorben was at a rebellious age. Then she dipped her head in greeting to the oddly colored female. "Well, now you know I'm that one's mother..." She said with an annoyed drawl spicing up her normally warm voice. Her gaze settled on Titan's tail as it disappeared through the long grasses. Then the pair of she wolves began to follow him."Narime Lagina at your service. If you guys are hunting I would be glad to help out. If I can take a little meat to a cache afterward." Her quiet introduction was given before Nari pauses hoping to get the black and white she wolf's name. The gray queen smiled knowing that there would be plenty of food on a carcass should they take a deer down. Plus they were allies, and for the most part Willow Ridge and Whisper Caverns wolves didn't seem to have a problem with sharing carcasses in between the pack territories. They had done it quite often in the past.Pulling back to let Enoki work with Titan, Nari carefully observes the two darker wolves. She wanted to know how experienced the other she wolf was at hunting, and what her official role was. Is she a teacher? Or maybe a hunter? She could be either. the thoughts floated before Nari's mind as she watched quietly. As Enoki explained the situation to Titan and asked for his opinion on things, Nari felt herself nodding to the other womans words. She is a good hunter. At least she knows what she's talking about. Nari paused behind the willow wolves and looked out towards the landscape. Her own nose twitched around as she scented the prey they were going after. She smelled the yearling doe and smiled inwardly. It should be an easy hunt with the three of them. Especially if Titan had learned anything from his first pack hunt. |

The dark wolf felt Enoki come up beside him to take the lead once more, and grudgingly he followed. When she stopped dead in her tracks and stooped low enough for her belly fur to touch the ground, Titan tried to copy the movement. It was very hard for him to stay in this low position for long because he easily outweighed both Enoki and his mother. The extra weight put more strain on his legs and ankles than it did the two woman. As she spoke to him, the ear closer to Enoki tilted forward upon Titan's dusty black crown. He nodded in understanding while remembering how Nari had ordered the pack about during his first hunt for large game. She had made the fastest wolves go out first to split the deer from the herd and give it light injuries while steering it around. Then the next wolves who held great stamina were sent out to chase the deer, tire it, and worry the wounds given by the previous group. If possible the second group were to drag down the beast and slow it for the third group to catch up. Lastly the third group of strongest wolves help to take down the prey and end its life. Titan knew how the chase worked, but as he glanced to Enoki and Nari he wondered what strengths each had.
Titan knew that Nari could outpace most wolves even if she wasn't the fastest she wolf in the pack. As the dark lad looked at Enoki he could see a similar build on the ebony and ivory she wolf. Maybe she had some stamina too? Even if she was shorter than his mother and a bit smaller. Speed and stamina for her then... He pegged the piebald woman while thinking back on where to place himself on the scale.
I can run for a while and keep up with mom mostly, but most wolves can outrace me. My build is tall but lean with wide shoulders. So maybe I'm a strength and stamina kind of guy? His brows furrowed as he thought about his own strengths and weaknesses.
After thinking about wolf placement for the hunt Titan forced himself to concentrate on the doe. He couldn't see from his angle past a clump of grasses, so the dark wolf moved over a tad bit then looked.
"She kinda looks like she's just wandering around. Like she has nothing to do." Titan answered while watching the doe take slow lazy steps towards a patch of late blooming wildflowers. She didn't seem alert, or cautious of her surroundings at all. "There aren't any other deer anywhere near her. It's just the little doe. She keeps putting her head down as if she's smelling the grass." Titan described the scene to his superiors before glancing towards them wondering when it would be okay to start the chase. He was eager to head out. "So what's the plan?" He asked curiously while kneading the ground impatiently like a giant kitten.
Content in the fact that having Titan examine the playing field once more would give her time to properly introduce herself and answer the Cavern Matriarch, her attention drifted in her direction while keeping an ear open in case the boy spoke up. With a small dip of her maw, she offered the younger woman a small, but friendly smile before speaking in a hushed tone so as not to disturb the yearling's thoughts as he constructed each ones weakness and strengths. "Pleasure to meet you, Narime. I'm Enoki Ashrelle and the help would be most appreciated. Plus I see no harm in taking your share for helping out." By now Enoki had come to learn of the alliance between the pack trio, Willow, Whisper Caverns and Secret Woodlands and thus it didn't bother her to cut a slice of the prize for the Cavern wolves to enjoy. What point would there be in wasting precious energy if there was no reward? Enoki's attention was then swept back to the dark hued boy as he spoke up, painting the scene before his eyes with his words. The target was alone and aloof to the other does and bucks that found residence along the edge of the golden meadow, making the favor fall that much more in their paws. "So what's the plan?" were his words as she noted the way he kneaded the ground beneath his paws, clearly overcome with frisson for the hunt now that it drew near. She didn't know off hand what strengths the two wolves that accompanied her had, only knowing her own of strength and stamina. Sweeping her gaze over the two, she calculated the possibilities off their body build. Titan; though young still, had a larger frame than she, but slender in the torso and wide within his shoulders making him a more likely candidate for pulling off the strength and possible stamina portion of the hunt. Narime was large in stature much like her son, though sleek making her appear more applicable for speed and strength. Now as for Enoki, she was all about stamina and strength with her medium, slender frame though she had a pretty good gauge on the speedometer nonetheless. So that left deciding who did what. "Right. I will presume the role of keeping her split up from the herd and direct her in the direction of you two while providing minimum injury to her flanks seeing as I may be the fastest among us. Narime, seeing as you come off as a well rounded wolf of stamina similar to myself would you care to join in after I cause some damage and help me tire the prey enough for Titan?" Pausing her words, she once more let her amber gaze drift between the two to make sure she wasn't talking too fast and that they understood the orders she was giving. It felt weird to the piebald woman to be giving orders after doing things solo for so long, but this new found teamwork of theirs felt right and she knew it was a must in order to assure a safe and successful kill for them. "Now Titan, that gives you the greatest portion of the hunt and my favorite. Once your mother and I exhaust the young doe it will be your job to bring her down and give the lethal bite to her jugular, ending the hunt. I will bark to signal when you come in. Do we all agree?" |

Narime watched and listened as orders were given out. She approved of everything that was said. The only thing left to do was to get the chase started. Glancing over to Titan's shimmery black coat, Nari watched as he nodded then fidgeted in place. She could tell that he too was ready to get started, though she hoped that he had actually listened to the plan that Enoki gave him. He seemed too distracted by the deer to be fully listening to the piebald woman. Nari passed a look to Enoki then nodded to show that she was ready to go. Then her light blue eyes looked over to their prey keeping an eye on what was going on. Her legs hummed with stored strength as Nari waited for the run she was about to go on. Gods she loved running. |

With all three wolves in agreement of their roles, the hunt would begin. "May the luck of the hunt be with us all." she blessed the trio with the common phrase of her homeland, nodding to each wolf in turn before she glanced behind her at the slowly rising sun, tensing her body and focusing her gaze on the target. Patiently she waited, waited for the precious moment that signaled the right moment to strike. Much like Titan had already began to do, her claws kneaded the ground beneath them in preparation and angst. Enoki loved the thrill of the hunt and the rush of adrenaline that coursed through her body from her excitement of it. The yearling doe was still unaware of what was about to happen, the last minutes of her life slowly ticking away one by one. Tick...tick..tick...tick..
The sound of breaking twigs broke the small expanse of silence that fell as the light of dawn broke just above the location the hunting party was located, giving Enoki the perfect moment to set things into motion. With the sun behind her, the light gave her a grace period of a minute as the light blinded the deer, allowing them to hear her coming, but not see her. The first doe gave the bleeting call of danger as her black form sped across the golden waves of grass towards her target, zigging her body to the left to run parallel at a distance from the young doe that now ran for the safety of the surrounding trees a hundred yards away. Quickly the distance between predator and prey declined, her hungry jaws snapping at the yearlings ankles the closer she got. Once closer still she let her teeth sink into the tender flesh of her flank, the muscle yet to harden fully from evading predators which came with age. Tossing her head back in, she gave another nip at her hide. A double gash now marked her thigh and the crimson liquid began to seep from the laceration.
Pushing forward on a surge of speed and energy, she passed the yearling on her left side causing the doe to veer to the right and away from the direction of the trees. Exactly what she was hoping would happen. The yearling was becoming distraught and Enoki gave a firm bark to signal it was time for Narime to join in. Now the two woman would need to ware the doe out and let the injury to her rear thigh kick in. Right now the amount of adrenaline within the yearling subsided the pain, but the more tired she got the less likely she would be able to bare the pain as it came at her like a freight train and the loss of blood took effect alongside it.
Knowing the plan, and understanding that Titan's job was the last thing to do, Nari stepped forward ahead of her son to hide near Enoki ready for her role to begin. The bright sun lit up behind the wolves giving each a golden cloak of fur from the reflected light. Though the light also lit up the field into a glowing mass of golds, rusts, and yellows, effectively blinding many animals who were facing the sunrise. Nari tensed as Enoki sped off. Nari followed at a much slower lope watching the chase from afar and conserving her energy. Like a train, the gray she wolf's speed gently increased as Enoki herded the doe away from cover and gave her a number of injuries. By the time that Enoki called for her help, Nari was already there able to take the reigns from the dark she wolf to give her a rest. Her body hummed to life as Nari ran along sometimes beside or behind the doe. Her job was not to injure, but to use her full energy in keeping the deer moving quickly to tire it out. That was not to say that Nari nips didn't hurt when she tagged the young doe's legs, rear, or sides with her sharp fangs. She kept the deer running never letting up on the pressure. Her breathing was quick but steady while the deer's began to quicken and fuss as she tired. Running forward away from the grey wolf, the doe began to slow, even as the she wolf nipped at her sides to keep it running faster. Her legs, chest, and injuries burned as the energy quickly began to leave her. Nari tried to keep the deer moving faster and faster, but it was slowing down more and more, so much so that the she wolf wasn't having a problem keeping up anymore. Narime could feel blood lust taking her, but she held herself back knowing that the killing wound was not her job. That role went to the young Thorben who waited silently in the eves waiting to drop in and finish the deer off. The cavern queen knew that the deer was now slow enough to let Titan have a go at her. Though Nari would make sure the deer wasn't going anywhere. She let out a clipped howl to Titan signalling him to come and kill the doe before running to the doe's other side and planting her jaws firmly between its body and front left leg. Her aim was to drag it down so that Titan could catch up faster and have an easier time getting at the doe's throat. Though her teeth did do some damage to the young creatures tendons and flesh as she yanked and pulled the deer into an even slower pace. |

Titan loped along after his faster hunting partners keeping tabs on what they were doing and keeping an eye on the young doe as she stumbled along trying to escape the wolves. Those satellite like black ears were alert waiting for his name to be called or some kind of signal from one of the two she wolves so that he could join in. However for now he concentrated on his pace keeping it slow and conserving energy for his part of the job. For his job, which included taking down the doe and giving her the killing bite, could be considered the hardest but most fun of the three jobs wolves on a hunt could get.
Despite being a healer, Titan was actually quite bloodthirsty. He had learned from his mother about the instinct to kill and the lust for blood that came with being a wolf. The young Thorben was adept at using those blood loving instincts to tear a part a carcass or kill smaller prey items. Now he had the chance to try those instincts out on a larger prey item.
His ears twitched as Titan heard Narime's call to him. The dark lumbering wolf picked up speed to catch up to the silver wolf and the deer who was being dragged down. Quickly moving around his tall mother and avoiding deer hooves, Titan then grabbed onto the deer from the opposite side of Nari and helped her to drag the animal down to the ground. His weight plus her own made that job rather easy, but once the deer was on the ground he had to get to the more important job of killing it.
In a swift movement as the deer struggled to get back up, the silver misted black male reached for her throat and wrapped his jaws around her jugular. With a disgusting crunch of his fangs Titan felt the warm blood begin to flow around his jaws. The red color painted his dark face and began to splatter his chest as the doe wheezed and fell forward. Her legs still struggled against the wolves, but her top half was held down by the two larger gray and black hunters who waited for @Enoki to join them.
As Narime came to join the hunt she allowed her pace to decline enough to conserve the last of her energy for later when she would help them bring their prize to the ground and allow Titan to end the hunt. The pink of her tongue began to peak between the points of her fangs as her jaws parted in a heavy pant, her sides and chest heaving with the strain of running while trying to keep herself breathing at the same time. Her amber orbs watched closely as the silver coated woman drove the deer hard, increasing the speed of the chase more and more which only caused the young doe to run slower and slower. Her rear flank was now nearly painted red from the crimson blood that continued to flow from the wound Enoki had given her before calling for Narime. The hunt would be over soon by the way things were falling into place. Slower and slower she ran, making it easier for Enoki to keep within a close distance as she trailed from the rear.
Not long after the doe began to slow did @Narimé give @Titan the cue to join them and put the poor creature out of its misery. Off to her right came the lumbering form of the silver misted yearling, quickly closing the gap between himself and the woman just as his mother began to sink her teeth into the doe's hide and drag her down. The piebald woman pushed herself forward to help, but it was all over before she could reach the duo. With a sickening crunch that reached her ears she knew that Titan had done the deed, the rich metallic scent of blood lofting onto the airwaves. Finally catching up to them her teeth sank instantly into the spinal cord of the young doe and positioned her paws against it as she gave a mighty yank to break it, sealing her fate that much more as the tang of her blood once more found its way onto her taste buds. It did not take long for the creature to exhale its last breath and go limp beneath their combined weight, her legs ceasing to move.
Releasing her death like grip on the spine she then used her tongue to expel the tuffs of fur that became lodged in her mouth, shaking her head to clear them from the corners of her crimson colored lips. Letting her gaze drift between her companions a grin pulled the blackness of her lips back, nodding to each in turn in silent thanks for their hard work. "You've done excellent, Titan. You should be proud of yourself for today. I know i'm proud of you." Leaning over she gave a quick nudge to the top of his crown before turning her attention to Narime. "And thank you for your help. It is much appreciated and please take what you would like. You deserve it." Her smile remained on her lips though she now returned to panting heavily. The hunt was a success.
Narime felt the lust for blood leave her as she finally released the deer from her grip. Her jaws quivered as she huffed to catch her breath. The silver woman's sides quaked while she sat down and glanced to each hunting partner in turn and gave them a wide grin. Though her grin was dashed when she saw Enoki congratulate Titan on the kill. The pride in the Ashrelle womans eyes mirrored Nari's own, but a touch of jealousy smoked Nari's gaze. While Enoki wasn't looking Nari switched her gaze off the woman and sniffed at the deer for a moment. Had she been the one to congratulate Titan he would have rejected the compliment for sure. Nari knew that he would soak in any compliments that other wolves gave him, but something about getting the very same comments from mom had the boy instantly embarrassed. Embarrassed enough to lash out at her much like Yuka did. So she held her tongue. All Nari gave Titan was a proud smile and a short nod in approval before glancing towards the meadow once more. The deer had been alerted to the wolves during the chase. However the herd hadn't moved much. They knew that the wolves now had their kill. So they needn't fear for their lives while the pack was full. "I won't take too much of this. Enough for @Rory another few pack mates maybe. I'm sure Elettra has a full den back home. " Her slip of tongue could have been mistaken for simple forgetfulness not adding the "at her" in the full den back home. Nari kept her face stoic as she began to dig in for her share of the kill to fill her belly with the amazingly fresh meat. Then once she was done the female began to half carry half drag a rather large hunk of deer leg with her towards Whisper Caverns.(exit Narime) |

Perhaps it was a bad thing that Titan was not at all embarrassed to be strutting around with his head and tail held high in front of not one, but two older woman; one of which was his own mother. However it was in a males nature to show off in front of ladies, even if Titan did not realize this himself.
"Thank you for taking me out on the hunt today Enoki, and mom... Thanks for coming over to help, that probably would have been harder had you not decided to come and aid us." Titan felt a little bad for speaking harshly to Nari before the hunt. He wasn't going to say sorry, but his eyes, calm gentle voice, and body held the hidden message.
Watching Nari choose her own spot, Titan then waited for Enoki to take her own place. Then finally he found a portion of the deer's belly that looked appetizing and began eating. He wasn't finished by the time Nari stopped and began gnawing off the whole back leg to take to a cache. Although she had mentioned Rory earlier, He knew that the little white pup didn't eat much. So most of the leg would be going to a cache someplace inside Whisper Caverns territory.
