The dark wolf had decided that instead of going to the forest he was now starting to think of as his he wanted to view the areas around it. If he was going to call someplace home he would need to figure out the best places to hunt inside and out of that area. Just in case there was going to be some harsh times ahead. at the moment though he was regretting that decision. He had cold muck on his legs chilling him through his thick fur coat.

Mumbling under his breath about how he wished he hadn't come Jester pushed through the reeds that whispered in the soft breeze. His orange gaze searched the ground for a dryer spot so that he could try to clean up a little and find a route out of the squishy area that he had managed to get himself lost in. Sighing in annoyance the dark wolf left out a sigh his ears flicking back as he sank another inch or so into the chilling muck. Forcing his legs up he finally meandered over to a tree that held so actual ground around it.

This time his sigh was one of relief as he found the solid footing. getting himself out of the muck he just stood a moment before sitting down head low. He was tired from walking through all the muck that had been dragging him down. Looking down at his legs he gave a grimance before trying to clean it off of himself. He ignored the earthy taste as he washed his forelegs. He needed to rest for a bit but first he needed to get the muck off of him. He just didn't like how it clung at him and so he applied himself to his task.

More recruiting was on the silver womans agenda. She wanted to be prepared should they decide to go ahead and attack Cut Rock River without sufficient intelligence on the packs numbers. So Nari and Ash set out on a mission to swell their ranks with wolves loyal to their cause.

Nari had noticed new scents constantly arising from just outside the meadow's boundaries. The smells of loners crisscrossing neutral territories begged the she wolf to follow them. Normally she did not stray from from Whisper Caverns, especially with all the caching she had to do to prepare for winter, but Nari took the risk of traveling further to hunt and search for loners to recruit.

Now she was on a fresh trail left by a male. By his scent Narime could tell that he was healthy and strong despite being a loner, and this attracted Nari's attention. She wanted strong healthy wolves for her pack. However, she would have to make sure that he was even interested in joining a pack in the first place because the gray woman did not want to accept someone who was going to leave soon after joining. She wanted her recruits to at least stay for the winter, because everyone knew that it was almost impossible to survive the winter without a pack to help you out.

Her own long willowy limbs worked overtime leaping clear the earth and deeper areas with ease. Her lope was broken up by occasional bits of walking as Nari picked her way through the marsh. She knew every dry spot in the wetland, and where the best routes were for getting around. It was only natural since Nari had lived near there and hunting the area for such a long time.

A smile crossed her lips as Nari spots her quarry under a lone willow that stood defiantly within the marsh. Snags were mostly found in the wetland, but this tree as well as a few others, managed to stay alive in some of the harshest conditions to survive in.

Approaching the tree with a confident stride, Nari loped her way over a narrow dry path to the left of the male wolf and his willow. She had to leap over a section of wet, but once she arrived at the bit of dry ground by the tree the woman was quite dry. Her rear left leg had mud half way up it while the other three legs had managed to stay clean till the ankles downward.

"So you're obviously new around here."

Nari comments before glancing towards the males muck encrusted legs. He must have taken all the wrong routes through the marsh. Amusement crept into her otherwise warm smile as Nari gave the male a respectable amount of space for himself.

By the time he realized that he was going to have company he had half of one fore-leg clean. Giving it on last lick he looked up to see who had joined him. Her coat was all grays and silver tones with blue eyes that should her amusement as she commented about him being new to the area. A grin spread across Jester's features as he asked tone filled with amusement "Is it that easy to tell?" He could tell that she knew the layout of this place as her legs were, for the most part, clean. Glancing down at his own legs and then back at hers he had to chuckle a little. Great first impression he thought to himself but there was nothing he could do about it now so he put it from his mind.

Her scent finally made his way to him and he could tell that she was from a pack. Deciding quickly as he had done with the other pack wolf that he had come across he wouldn't try to join unless her pack resided to the north a little in the forest he wanted to call home. Dipping his head he said with his voice holding laughter in it "My name is Jester." A smile remained on his face as he watched the gray she-wolf. He didn't ask for her name but waited to see if she would offer it instead. As he waited he could feel the muck on his legs starting to harden and he kept his discomfort hidden though he did give his half-way clean leg another lick.

Relief poured through her chest as the male returned her lighthearted comment with a smile of his own. He has a sense of humor then, and no stick shoved up his- Her thought was cut off by answered her with a humorous tone. Everything, his actions and personality so far, pointed to this man being the kind of wolf Nari liked being around. The good kind..

She let her own smile widen and allowed her tail to wag as the dark male introduced himself. She was glad she had come out here today. Something about meeting new wolves brought back memories of when she was a yearling. The silver wolf had many good memories from meeting strangers while she wandered around as a youngster. Maybe she should be doing this more often?

"My name is Narime Lagina. I lead Whisper Caverns pack just a short walk south of here."

Nari let her head tilt to one side as she watched Jester bend down to start licking at his legs again. She wondered why such a healthy male was out alone, though she refrained from asking him directly. Instead the she wolf decided to figure out if the male was searching for a new home. She would get right to the point so as not to waste his time should Jester or she need to leave for whatever reason.

"So are you roaming the land looking for a home? Or do you like the adventure of wandering this mysterious place?"

She asked before planting her rear onto the earth and allowing her tail to thump on the ground.

The silver lady introduced herself as the Alpha of a pack south to the marsh. It's a pleasure to meet you Narime. He told her bowing his head once more this time lower than before as he acknowledged her status. So far she didn't seem to want to press her dominance on him so he hoped that the small gesture would be okay for now. His ears pricked up as he listened to her talk. Was that a concealed invitation he heard or was he imagining things? She sat down and the thump of her tail agianst the ground echoed around them.

He smiled at her as he finally responded. I am going to see about calling the forest that is a little north of here home. He told her with all honesty. He didn't know about the pack that was in that area or the animosity between the leader that sat before him and the one that had laid claim to 'his' forest. Out of pure curiosity he asked his head tipping to the side Do you come here to take a break from leadership or hunt? Even as he spoke he realized that the question was a little strange to his ears. Looking down he licked his leg a couple more time out of embarrassment not knowing if the silver alpha would think the question strange as well. Maybe I should have re-phrased that a little better. he scolded himself internally. There was no going back though and he would just need to let things play out as they would.
