@Phineas   Moderate snow 29 ° F, -2 ° C

After having gone back to the mountains Kay had decided that he liked them enough to stay. They gave a fantastic view if you could find the right spot that let you look out upon all the other areas and seeing all the trees look so small while he looked on was a very nice feeling. He was in one of those such spots but the snow that was falling blurred the sight he wanted to see so clearly. Sitting on the rocks staring out his ghostly form was still. He didn't move as a small breeze picked up around him before settling down once more. The silence was broken by some rocks tumbling down from above. Kay's gold gaze flew up to see a retreating form that vanished before he could get a good look. A snarl broke across his features the peace he had briefly felt gone.

Standing he shook the snow that had landed on him off before letting out a sigh. He knew that there was a pack in the area as well as to the north a ways. To the west there seemed to be ab overabundance of packs though which meant that tensions would run high if prey became too scarce with winter. His gaze lingered on the view he had been staring out at before he turned and began to climb once more. If he wanted to stay in the area he would have to join them or at least play nice if they didn't want him in their ranks. A grin spread across his face as he searched.

Some time later he finally found it, the border. With a pause he considered once more if this pack was the one he wanted to join. The one to the north was fewer in numbers but this one was larger and likely more established. Silently he thought of his options before he tossed his head to the sky and let out a rich calling howl. He would see how this went and if he was chased off well there was always other packs out there.

Phineas’ ear flickered at the call of the howl.  It had been awhile since one had summoned him to the borders – Aesire, it seemed, was a worthy partner in terms of leading, for she had accepted her own followers within the ranks. Silent Moon Plateau was a quiet pack, but it was flourishing, and as such, the ivory male felt content with this.

His large form moved through the snow now, uncertain if someone else would beat him to the caller. As the moments passed, and light snow dusted across his pelt, he was only met with the quiet of the mountain.. he could easily be soothed by this, and for a stolen moment, felt an inner peace at his choice to move the pack. Winter has been a riskier time.. but it also had proven their success as a working unit, and the regal could move forward in his life confidently now.

He finally came upon the other – a white figure in the snow, and as he rounded closer, his posture would offer its regal stance as a common posture for him. His tail flicked higher, and his bright orange eyes gleamed as they sized up the other wolf. With arching wolfish brows, Phineas awaited in silence, for an explanation as to why he had been summoned by the wolf before him – as far as he was concerned, it was the unknown wolf before him that had made the request of a Plateau wolf’s presence, so he might as well he the one to explain why.

Sitting down Kay waited patiently for someone to come. He didn't know where within the pack they were and if they were on the other side...Well he would be sitting a while if they didn't feel a rush to come and see who was knocking at their door. Snow softly fell on him and he gazed into the pack's territory watching to see if he could make out the form of someone coming to answer him. But then it might not even be a leader that came even if he had called for one. Some wolves were nosy like that and they were the ones that felt the thrill of figuring out everyone else's secrets.

The sound of paws on snow had the ghostly male on his paws and silently he lowered himself. If he met a pack wolf on his own as a loner he would act as he pleased but if he was trying to join he showed respect. If was able to join they would be his leaders and he had learned to respect them even if he didn't like them. Gold eyes glanced up to see a pale form emerge from the snow. So someone had finally arrived. Kay let a moment pass so that they could get a look at each other before he spoke.

My name is Kaden and I would like to join your pack. He said simply getting straight to the point. It was no good dancing around the subject better to get it out there and get the ball rolling. Who knew how long it would have taken if they had danced verbally.

Phineas Argyris

The Argyris patriarch was a man who liked to get straight to the point – the wolf before him did not disappoint on this matter, and as he spoke, Phineas offered a small nod in greeting. Phineas Argyris, he offered in return, his words drawling slightly as his fiery eyes swept over the other. The male was youthful – but older than a yearling, and thus far, seemed respectable enough. What skills do you possess that you would bring to our pack? It was such a tedious question – but it helped provide insight to the wolves that stood upon his border.. to determine more about their behavior than anything else.

The wind whipped past him, stirring with it the scent of the other before him. There was a large population of she-wolves in the pack currently, and testosterone was something that was welcome if only to even out their genders – but somehow, with Hypatia coming up to her second birthday, and his two other daughters aging to the first, he was almost hesitant about which males he let in to the pack.. Somehow, it felt as if he could be exposing them to the true possibility of their hormones, and the thought terrified him. He was not ready for any of them to grow up – least of all Hypatia, who seemed to have her eyes on the boy at the Bend.

Smoothing his pink tongue over his tainted lips, the regal stirred his focus upon the visitor before him, waiting for an answer that would either inspire him to offer the wolf a home, or deny him access to the Plateau and send him on his way to one of their neighbors.

At the leaders question Kay could have snickered but he with held and only the twitch of his ear gave him away. What skills did he have? Oh the list was a large one. He could play the fool or the king. The faithful watchdog or the feral beast. Deciding that he shouldn't get a smart mouth he replied simply. I am a fighter and I won't betray you should you choose to accept me. Loyalty could be hard to come by and when Kay meant the he wasn't going to betray someone he wasn't going to betray them for anything. He upheld the few promises he gave and he felt that this conviction filtered through his words for the other male to hear.

He considered what other possibly strengths that he could tell the other he had. I am also good at surviving the winter so hunting in the cold doesn't bother me much. Being an Arctic wolf his whole species was made for the cold and having been raised in it he had learned to thrive in it. Also he believed that he was more immune to some diseases but he couldn't place why. Maybe because of the stressful years as a pup? He wasn't sure and as he waited for a response he hoped that his words had been enough to convince Phineas that he was worth having in his pack. All he could do was wait though for the words to be spoken that he was either accepted or denied.

It amused the large white wolf that the younger male before him pledged he would not betray him -- enemies could come from the most random places.. but it was not the Argyris' concern as to what this wolf could possibly do to betray him. His pack was of a decent size and loyal -- his only concern now rested with the familiar scents that drifted further from the mountain, and the queen that was attempting to rise a pack there. They were small in number for now.. but Athena had a way with words, and he fully believed she would use that to an advantage.

So, a warrior was a welcome addition, even if the boy was close to his eldest daughter's age. With a stoical mask, the regal gave a small nod, his bright eyes flickering over the pack's newest comrade. I have but one more question -- and then you shall be able to explore you're new home, he determined, his tail giving an idle flick as his eyes drifted to the direction Fallen Tree Cove lay. Have you done much traveling in Relic Lore? What of the other packs in the area? Any news of them? He strayed so little from home that their neighbors were now a mystery to him, and come spring, when the snows thawed, he knew he would need to send a scout out to better determine the news of Relic Lore. He had no doubt that Willow Ridge and Whisper Caverns were fine -- unfortunately, he could only imagine the Bend wolves were still strong as well.. but what of the others?

OOC: So sorry for the wait.

Kay glanced up in surprise when the other asked for news about the other packs that lay in the surrounding area. He considered what he should say seeing as he hadn't done much traveling in the area himself though he had smelled the scents of the surrounding packs. To be honest I have not explored much of Relic Lore but when I crossed the mountain I noticed a small pack to the north and then there is a pack to the west of here. He didn't have much news about what they were doing or what tensions might be rising within them. He hadn't made himself all that concerned with them. Why should he have? He hadn't found the areas they lay in interesting or bothered to meet any of the members except that dark female wolf to the west. He didn't remember if she had given him her name or not, but he wasn't going to bother to remember it if she had.

He glanced up once more to see Phineas's expression before looking again to his paws. He didn't know about any of the pack relations and he sure didn't know who were the allies of this pack or its enemies. If he had he might have poked around more to get some information but he hadn't so he didn't. Already he knew that he was going to be accepted so he didn't think that his lacking response was going to affect the leaders decision but one never knew.

Phineas Argyris

The information the other offered was less than useful – the Argyris knew of multiple packs to the West of the mountains, having been a member of one of them at one point of his life.. and holding the leader of another as one of his closest friends. The pack to the north could prove to be useful to him – something he would indeed explore further.

Giving a small nod, the ivory man withheld his stance. It was almost tempting to simply send the pale wolf out to scout out the other packs and bring back information for him – especially when the wolf did not yet smell of the Plateau. It would be of no true loss.. if the male did not come back, they would be no further displaced than they were now.

But he would not send the youthful male out when it was likely what he truly needed was a decent meal form one of the caches and a few, restful sleeps. Soon, the Argyris man would see his worth, and with a small nod to the wolf who had deceived him so readily, the male sidestepped slightly, indicating that Kaden was indeed allowed entrance to the pack and could now, as he had spoken before, explore his new home.

It was likely that Phineas would casually track him for the first part – ensuring the stranger stayed well away from his near-yearling children. Rest, then, he offered, his fiery eyes sweeping over the more youthful man once more. And help yourself to a cache.
