Esper
Esper strolled through a little stream watching the shimmering of the fish dart around looking for cover with each step she took. She lightly treaded the soft sand beneath her paws, feeling every ripple, every movement of the water. She sighed, not a disappointing or disapproving sigh, but a relaxed sigh. This was the feeling she loved. She rarely had this sense of security, she was completely comfortable. Esper was unlike many of her species. Wolves typically felt powerful when they could overpower one another, not Esper. She felt the most powerful when she could overpower herself, she had a chance to show herself that she could do it. This is precisely why she preferred being alone.

She ascended from the stream back into the comfort of the thicket she had come to know. Loners typically traveled from place to place, being extremely careful of stepping on a certain pack's borders. However, Esper didn't fear packs. She didn't particularly like them, but she didn't fear them. If in an extreme, she could probably outrun whoever chased her. But with this being said, Esper had made herself comfortable on a land that she claimed her own. Which was not exactly the case, but did she care? Of course not.

She slumped down next to the familiar stump she curled up on, allowing her slender legs to fold under her and digging her nose into the warmth of her tail. She let her eyes droop and her breathing slow.

This was perfect.

Castiel Archer Lyall
@Esper

Castiel, on a whim, had decided to ‘sneak’ out of Willow Ridge territory for just a single day. Of course he had to pick a day where it was moderately snowing. Shaking out his tawny pelt to rid his thick fur of the snow it had collected from his brief pause on the border, the Ridge Prince trotted away from the land that he had been born in, consciously remembering to make sure he knew which way was back home. He really didn’t want to get lost and have his parents send out a search party for him. That had already happened with his two brothers, and he’d rather not do that to them… and maybe he also wanted to feel just that bit better about being the only child out of his litter to not run away for a few days.

He soon came upon an absolutely huge expanse of flat – technically it was considered uneven, but hey, whatever floats your boat – land, covered in long grasses that were slowly dying from the cold. As did everything during winter. Gazing around for a few moments, his pale gold eyes taking in the sight, Castiel propelled his legs further once more, wanting to explore these new lands. The snow was deep, and with each step his paws sunk down into the slightly slushy crystals, effectively slowing down his progress and slowly but surely making his paws go numb.

Eager to get away from the snow, the Ridge Prince sped up as fast as he could without tripping over his own paws. However, he was concentrating on that so much that he didn’t pick up on the scent of another wolf, and only saw her when he looked up into the thicket, spotting her laying down next to a tree stump. Freezing in his tracks, Castiel watched her for a few moments before he composed himself. He hadn’t expected to find another wolf nearby, and not one as beautiful as the off cream wolf before him. Blinking, he quickly lowered his tail which had stuck up into the air, and lowered his head so it was just above the height of his back. They were on neutral territory, so he should be as neutral as possible. “Uhm, hello,” Castiel said softly, tail swishing slightly from side to side. “My name is Castiel Archer Lyall. I live in a pack that resides in the willows to the north of here.” He smiled at her, quite shyly in fact. It wasn’t often he met wolves outside of his pack. “May I have your name in return, miss?”

Esper
Esper awoke with a stench of another wolf filling her nostrils. A snort exerted from her as she blinked away the sleep from her eyes.

Whaa..what?

At that moment Esper was feeling slightly overwhelmed. She had just settled into a deep sleep and some random wolf came out of nowhere. No one had snuck up on her while she had found this oasis, why was someone now confronting her? Should she bolt? Should she snarl? She quickly arose to her feet, keeping her balance the best she could, besides the fact that she had just woken up.. and turned towards the unwelcome guest. Her focus finally fell on the wolf in front of her, who was giving an introduction without her even asking. Who was this? Her focus narrowed, and then she gave a little smirk. Oh...it's a pup. She thought to herself. Her tail hung in a relaxed position, she had no threat here. Just an entertainment.

Esper let out a long yawn to show she was in no hurry to explain herself, letting her tongue flail out of her mouth as she extended her fore-paws forward, digging into the dirt with her claws, and arching her back as she pressed her head into her chest.

Young to be out on our own, aren't we?

She looked the pup over, as she spoke calmly, letting her voice enrich the area around them. It was a good thing she was having a good day, at least it was for the young Castiel. She could entertain the pup for a while until she got bored, and she could simply slip away leaving the curious beast to go back where he belonged.

Nice manners though, I appreciate that.
