After informing @Angier she was on her way (having discussed the possibility with him previously) she had set out in search of @Asriel. Mindful of the fact bears would be stirring from their slumber she had decided for once that she didn’t want to go alone. It had taken a lot for the girl to swallow her pride and ask rather than order her companion to join her, but she was grateful he was willing to come with her none the less. She felt safe with @Renier at her side.

They had been travelling north for two days before they came across the spring. In the places where the ice had begun to break away from the banks, copper coloured rocks could be seen glinting under the surface of the water in the sunlight. It seemed to be as good a place as anywhere before they pushed further north.

Already the days were growing longer. The snow was beginning to melt, and with the change of season came an uncomfortable itch just under her skin. Not for the first time the princess wandered away from her companion and sat, bringing her rear leg up to scratch at the side of her neck, lips pulling tight in frustration before she allowed herself to tip face forward into a snowbank, pushing her chest and head into the coolness hoping it would numb some of the burning under her pelt. She arose with a growl, her tail lashing about like an angry cat when no relief was to be had.

She was certain it wasn’t warm enough for fleas yet but she had never felt this way before and what else could it be?

What is it I'm thinking

So it was unexpected that the Ridge princess should ask him to accompany her on a search for her elder brother. He would have thought Enoki or Skoll would have been on the top of her list. There was no reason nor want to decline. He understood all to well what it was like when a sibling had been gone too long. Since she had told Angier he did not see the harm. They weren't leaving, and her mother would be aware of her absence. Morganna shouldn't go alone. While he wasn't an official guardian, he had often thought of taking on the role. And he had pledged his service to Elettra after all. So he should see nothing happened to her daughter. Even if he was still a bit puzzled why...him? Despite their time together, he was far from sure if it meant more to him than her. The rogue wasn't about to fall into anything again. Recently a peculiar thought had picked at his brain. Could she be his cousin? Angier hadn't exactly been around the whole time, and by her age.... No, he could not bring himself to ask.

He let her take the lead, offering brief snippets of conversation, but not minding the quiet lull between them as they headed north. There was plenty of ground to cover, and he worked on a larger map in his mind with all this new scenery.  After all je was all to happy for a reason to escape. The tension of the season, it made it quite easy to leave the Ridge behind. The rogue didn't mind a good fight. What he didn't like was the lack of reason he had for wanting to shove any and all other males face first into the mud. He wasn't trying to take the pack so what the hell? He didn't remember anything significant about last spring, but he had spent it rather alone.

.....................................................

Red rocks beneath his toes, he took time to gather a large drink. Though he realized, not for the first time, the dark lady had wandered away. He really wished she would stop doing that. It would be his head if she got hurt. Ren was not her brother, nor baby sitter so he had no intention of treating her like that. Hell, what was going on? The way she was acting, if something was bothering her he worried. There had been a change to her scent, not horrible, but was she sick? "Hey, find anything?" He yelled, half tempted to see what on earth she was doing.

She threw herself down for another snow bank dive when her companion called out. His voice was soothing and infuriating all at the same time and she had to clamp her jaws shut to prevent herself from letting some very un-ladylike words travel across the distance that stretched between them. She felt like her skin was on fire, and she doubted that even if her brother had been standing just a few feet away, upwind, that she would have had the faculties to process it and make ends meet.

Taking a few deep breaths, she sneezed the rogue snowflakes away that had begun to melt just inside her dark nose. She stalked back towards the earthy hued wolf, pausing to drag her flanks along the course bark of the trees that separated them. It was clear from the surly look on her face and the stiffness in her steps that something had her agitated, but she still couldn’t figure out what was causing her such discomfort or what the solution to her ailment was.

“Nuthin’” She managed to mutter under her breath, barely resisting the urge to fall in a flailing heap on the creek bank to try and stop her skin from crawling. It seemed to get worse the closer she got to him. Even she could smell the change in her scent and she would be lying to say she wasn’t slightly afraid. She was certain @Elettra would know the answer to her woes but they had a task to complete first. Finally swallowing a bit of her pride she turned a critical stare on Renier. “Are you itchy?” She asked, her shoulder twitching concerned they had decided to bed down in vermin unsuspectingly.

She couldn’t keep herself composed any longer and bowed down to drag her chest across the stony ground.

It didn’t help in the slightest.

What is it I'm thinking

Holding his breath, ears strained. Other than a sneeze there was nothing to point out what kept her. It seemed she was trying to keep her distance, and he didn't understand why. If anything he thought she had grown comfortable in his presence. If possible she liked being there. Now...he didn't know what to think. Especially, after the mishap between their brothers. For the time, he was refused to revert to assumptions. He did not feel Skoll influenced her like a puppet. There was suspicion. Was he a just another Lyall?

Tendons flexed in his limbs, and he raised a paw ready to end this awkwardness. Golden gaze caught sight of her, and he held himself in place. There was clear evidence of discomfort. He assumed it was the disappearance of her elder brother. Slightly, red toned ears pressed against his tawny head, eyes trailing along her dark coat. While she pinned him with a stare, he met it only more confused. "No, I'm not. Is that what's making you miserable?"He inquired, trying not to use a cold tone, but it sounded a bit indifferent all the same. Renier didn't believe in expressing himself too thoroughly. He wasn't sure he wanted her to know how concerned he really was. If some how that would give her more power over him. Maybe, it was more about how he wasn't sure what to do, and that bothered him the most. He had no idea.

When she seemed unable to help herself, rubbing on the rocks that scattered all around he could not help but, immediately react. "Morganna!"He scolded, bending low to block her from continuing her course. "Whatever it is you don't want to wound yourself."A deep scowl settled on his face, and he coolly glared trying to make a point. Instantly, he tucked in a quiet breath, attempting to recompose himself. Then without permission he stood over her shoulder that had been twitching earlier. Face thoughtful, he tried to meet her orange toned eyes. "Let me see okay. Did you go through a plant I didn't or somethin?" It was another idea he had. "Are..are you sick?"

The closer he drew the more her skin crawled, but it quickly morphed from an uncomfortable itch to a more bearable buzz. It tickled at the back of her throat and the tip of her nose and ran right down into her toes. She still didn’t want to touch him just in case it was… fleas… but when he moved to block her dragging across the rocks she had to concede.

The Archer princess felt terribly vulnerable out here, and try as she might she couldn’t keep the tough guy act up forever. She wanted to moan like a miserable child and throw herself into the creek until whatever it was that made her feel so terrible drowned. She couldn’t even bring herself to snap at his question about whether she had walked through something. She liked to think she knew plants so well, but even she knew with her limited years that she didn’t yet know them all. “No…maybe…” she responded grimacing with uncertainly, concern and misery all over her face. She didn’t even get angry as he moved over her shoulder and met her eyes. If anything it kicked the new, more bearable hum up a notch. But it still wasn’t enough.

Her face twisted with misery when he asked if she was sick and she had to come clean. “I-I dunno… It’s like fleas but a million times worse. It’s hot and cold all at once and nothin’ helps!” she almost moaned miserably towards the end before she got back to her feet. She stepped towards his back, digging her nose into the fur just above the base of his tail. “It’s worst here but nothin’ helps.” she muttered through his fur. It would seem contact made whatever this was so much more pleasant and his familiar scent made her head spin.

Thank God she wasn't going to argue, or try an act. His patience was rather impressive considering what it had been, but it was not unbreakable. All that had happened since their careless run had definitely pushed his limits. Why he would like to think he was above snapping at her, he wasn't sure. He was still figuring out who she was as well.

Golden eyes held onto her pale orange stare, there was no certainty. "Alright, than we will likely rule that out." It was with careful thought, he offered a pull of a smile despite her obvious pain. He meant to peer more closely, brush his nose against her skin to check. Hesitant he listened, and she rapidly twisted behind him.  He was no plant expert, but he had been taught by a knowledgeable woman and he couldn't recall something that would cause such symptoms. It didn't exactly help her.

Coldness reached his tail, hip muscles bunched at the sudden prod of her nose, his tawny banner tucking up beneath him. If it were not for his knowledge of who had done that, he would have snapped right about. The urgency the rouge felt to turn away from this vulnerable position immediate, but there was something stronger that held him in place. Aware how close she was again after all this time she had seemed to avoid being too close. "I'm sorry," he began, bringing himself to a sit, but he curled his neck so he could still view her, gingerly stretching his nose to the tip of her crown. "What can I do," he breathed against her dark coat. Every part of him wanted to say they should go back to her mother. She could help. It seemed like another failure on his part.

As he moved to sit she pulled her head back, the sense of loss twisting knots in her stomach and sending her heart to thud uncomfortably in the back of her throat. For a moment she was worried she might vomit her innards all over the copper rocks at her feet. She took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut to try and centre herself considering the possibilities. Perhaps this was punishment for her pride? She hadn’t eaten anything out of the usual that she could remember and maybe some great deity had decided she needed to be knocked down a peg?

She was pulled from her worrying by @Renier’s apology, a scowl crossing her face as his nose came to rest atop her crown so gently. A singular touch unknotted her insides and set her heart back in its rightful place. His apology was almost missed as something far more feral started to stir in her chest. She lowered her head to bury her face in the plush fur at his chest, and as he asked what he could do she pulled back to meet his eyes, her own pupils dilating with a new hunger as she began to comprehend just what was happening to her.

Fear and arousal heightened her senses as she considered just what this all could mean. Of all the wolves she had met he was the only one not of her blood that she had found tolerable despite the lengths she had gone to to avoid him since their first encounter. She had to admit she felt safe with him, she wouldn’t have asked him to accompany her on this journey otherwise. So she let her walls down and with a shaky voice she made her request. “Just… Please don’t leave me.”

What is it I'm thinking

The twitch of her facade beneath his touch was almost enough to make him retreat.Almost. If it was unwanted he did not to force it upon her. When she did not pull away, when there was no growl or threats, he remained, a little wary of how much he had not wanted her to move away. Suddenly, he realized what he had felt before had been a simple crush and felt nothing compared to this. This was more powerful, and he was scared how debilitated it could leave him.

The dark lady pressed into the width of his chest, the rogue's tawny shoulders shuddered, while his breath caught sharply in the hollow of his throat. Hardly, he seemed to grasp what was happening when there again she moved, and he felt it might be his undoing. As if she was going to put a great space back between them once and for all. A plea was on his lips when everything seemed to be at a careful standstill as her pale, orange eyes locked onto his. In flame toned irises he saw a change, and hunger he wondered if it was a reflection of his own. There surely was fire in his own eyes of how much he wanted her. This did not have everything to do with her scent, there was more to it. He wished to not live a day without her, to make the world right in her eyes.

Her light voice teased his ears, and the fragility of it quieted his fears. There was no hesitation, or second thought. Face to face, eye to eye, with a steady voice he replied, "Of course Morganna, for I do not want to."
