Absyrtus Selk Lycus Slayer
For @Kjors!

He weaved through the trees with much ease. The past two days had been rather rainy. Thunder even dared to roll through the tree tops in such a manner that had the Lycus-Slayer flinching every now and then. He truly never was a fan of loud sounds. Everything from loud yelling and thunderstorms had him flinching just the slightest bit. Luckily he felt safe enough under the tall redwoods that sheltered him and his new family.

Trotting towards the center of the pack lands with a small rabbit hanging lifeless in his copper jaws, Absy sniffed for a cache. He had to prove his worth little by little. Each thing he did made him believe it was another leap towards proving loyalty. He also had to work with the scout Naia. He wanted to better himself so that when the day came he too could proudly hold the rank of scout. Perhaps if he worked hard enough in the next 11 months or so Kisla would trust him enough to give him the title. It was a long way off into time but Absy had his eyes set on it.

Finding a cache, copper paws lightly dug up the earth the covered it. Dropping the rabbit into the cache the Lycus-Slayer wagged his tail. Quickly his paws worked on covering it up as to keep everything fresh. When the job was done Absyrtus found a spot to lay near a tall redwood. Falling onto the damp earth with a light thud he rested his head onto his paws. It was time for a quick rest.

Kjors Sørenson
No longer was Kjors Sørenson the newest member of the Hearthwood River pack. A curiosity, he had to admit, though he was well aware that such a title would not last forever. It came with some measure of relief – all eyes would be on this novel wolf, no longer scrutinizing every time the one-eyed wonder came and went through common grounds. Of course, this did not mean the dragon could become otiose – he had goals, ambition, drive. A wolf could not be satisfied simply resting in the middle of the hierarchy when he had the opportunity to be so much more.

As such, the male was drifting through the center of the pack's territory when he picked up on the unfamiliar scent. Aware this was the newcomer, he quickly diverted his attention – meeting with Kisla could wait. The queen always had her paws full with her two youngest princesses. They were old enough to begin wandering, and he could only imagine puppies would try to disperse in two different directions at the same time. The lord hardly seemed present, though the swarthy male would reserve his judgment until a proper conversation could be held. There may be reasons he yet to understand, as was often the case with his own behavior.

But Maksim was far from mind as he discovered the newcomer at Hearthwood's cache. Ears flattened against his head as his flag hiked up, announcing his presence with a short bark. He could not tell what the younger wolf was doing from behind, only that the cache had been unearthed and the youth towering over it as he stared pensively downwards.

Absyrtus Selk Lycus Slayer

"What'ya think yer doin', kid?"

A quick yelp and jump was given from the Lycus-Slayer yearling. Facing the man who spoke in such a way Absy was quick to lower himself. Tail tucked, ears pinned, and body lowering. "I-I was just putting a rabbit away in the cache.." A bit nervous the copper yearling pined for something to say. "Was this the wrong cache?" Not daring to look up at the man, brown eyes remained lowered looking at the ground. Perhaps this was someone's personal cache. Maybe it was even a cache for just the alphas.

Daring to steal a quick glance at who's face he was talking to he noticed that only one eye shone in what little light there was. Quickly he dropped his gaze back to the ground. I've seen scars before but nothin' like that one.. It was the truth. Absy had seen scars, wounds, and markings plenty but certainly he had never seen a man missing his very eye. Strange. Curiosity made him want to ask what happened but the copper yearling had more respect than to ask such a thing. Besides, asking a question like "Oh hey, did ya know you lost an eye?" or "Hey, where'd it go?" might make him seem disrespectful. The last thing Absyrtus was was disrespectful.

As the rain fell from the sky above heavier it seemed to make way through the trees easier. While Absy never had a problem with rain, he did have a problem with the thunder that followed the rain.

Kjors Sørenson
Ah, caught with his paw in the cache…quite literally. The dragon allowed a feral smirk to curl around his grizzled maw as the youth spun around with puppy-like innocence in his eyes. Fortunately, the youth had the good sense to quickly acquiesce to his superior, and for that he was rewarded a point of respect. His answer was quick, and to the point, and despite the fact that the yearling was clearly startled, he did not have a shake in his voice. All very curious.

"Mhm," Kjors purred, slithering closer to the cache in question. He brushed by the newest recruit, not sparing him much of a second glance as he peered into Hearthwood River's communal hoard – much more impressive than his own stash, he had to admit. True to the subordinate's word, it seemed he had added the fresh rabbit, obvious compared to the other meals stored aware.

Satisfied, he took a step back and allowed the other wolf his space. Tipping his head to one side, he gave a short nod. "Naw. S'th' righ' cache, kid. Loomin' like tha', y'look more th' thief than th' dutiful hunter. Jes' somethin' t' keep in mind," he replied easily, the only apology issued in the form of not harassing his new pack member any further. After a moment, he sat upon the wet earth, encouraging the other wolf to relax. Now that they'd met, he might as well take the opportunity to meet him. "Y'ought t' cover tha' up before it gets too wet, yeah? Don' wanna be responsible fer spoilin' all tha'. 'm name is Kjors, by th' way. Y'are…?"
