Mother and son had made a comfortable nest for themselves a respectable distance from the pack's den. She had no desire to impose in a private space meant for Hollow wolves only. Their hospitality in allowing Bella and Duck to sleep within their borders was more than enough. In fact, Bella had tried to locate the spot where they had hunkered down during their last visit, but hadn't been entirely sure of the exact location. It was no matter, just a silly bit of sentimentality.
The night had passed uneventfully, the dreams sweet and meaningless. The pair would head back to the thicket before the sun reached its midpoint, to allow a leisurely journey home while there was still plenty of sunlight. But Bella desperately wanted to spend some time with her friend properly before departing - it had been her primary reason for coming, she could hardly leave without catching up with her guardian angel. It wouldn't do to only meet with him when she needed something; she didn't want to be that kind of friend.
And she was pretty curious to hear how his own situation had been developing, assuming he wanted to talk about it.
As the sun rose, Duck had awoken first, excusing himself to go take a drink and relieve his bladder. Bella had let him go but not before sweeping her tongue over his brow, ever the mother hen. He had trotted off quietly grumbling. With a contented smile, Bella stretched and shook herself, enjoying the colours in the sky as she waited for sign of her dear Veho.
