Odin Archer
had a one way ticket to the place where all the demons go
Odin Archer

A little voice in the back of his mind was telling him to speak up, to let her know it wasn't like that, hadn't been like that at all. It wasn't like they were strangers, they were wolves he knew, and had known well, they were friends, wolves that she knew too, but he bit his tongue to save her the heartache. He'd caused enough damage already. There was finality to her words that he hadn't been expecting, completely blindsided by his own ignorance. A nervous swallow and a silent nod all he could muster in response, rolling to his stomach but still crouching low to the ground he managed to look almost anywhere but at her. His mind was screaming at him to get away, to run back to the mountain where Piety was waiting for him. She had always been a calming presence and would be able to tell him just what he should be doing about all this mess that he'd managed to make. His first two steps were low to the ground, a slinking motion before he managed an uncharacteristic burst of speed, his tail and head tucked low as he fled to the north. He needed some space to process just what was going on.

A part of her had been hoping that he would turn to her and assure her that she was the only girl he needed in his life - that though he had made a mistake, it wasn’t something that would affect their relationship. That he wanted her like she wanted him, and the women he had fucked meant nothing to him.

But that was fairy tale shit.

This was reality, and in reality, Odin didn’t stay. Didn’t see that she needed him. Couldn’t comprehend that she needed a response from him that he just didn’t offer at all.

Kip hadn’t known she was capable of heartbreak until that moment, when he disappeared into the distance and left her all by herself under the trees. Exposed, unprotected, unsafe, alone. He didn’t care about her, and she shouldn’t have expected anything more.

It was when she was laying alone in the snow, choking on sobs that made her feel like she was suffocating, that she realized she had been ridiculous for hoping in the first place.
