Bojay Lyall
Mature thread for death Bojay will be discovering Maeve (TW link to thread) in this thread. Please allow @Sterling to post first. || Early Morning, Snow, 20°F (-7°C)

He hadn't seen his silver friend in a little bit, busy bothering others. Bojay knew he had to swing by and check up on her. Maybe they could make up another grand tale or even do something fun together. Anything to break free of the routine he had settled into. He was surprisingly up early and bounded over to where her scent had last been. He had proded around, called her name out but it seemed she wasn't there. The Lyall rounded the territory but still no sight of her.

So he expanded his search, going outside of the pack territory. The snow had covered up any tracks and the scent was hard to come but the boy caught a whiff. It was stale and something was off about it. Was she alone out here? A frown tugged on his features as he hesitantly pushed along. Maybe she wanted to be left alone. Should he bother her?

He thought he spotted her just along the bank. She looked so comfortable and peaceful despite the dusting of snow that laid over her. He padded a few steps closer before stopping. "Maeve?" He called out softly but the silver female didn't seem to move. "It's Bojay. I can leave if ya want?" His head tilted but she still didn't seem to budge. Maybe she was just really asleep. The Lyall knew she had seemed more tired lately. Tentatively he approached, rust brows furrowing tightly.

The boy settled himself down by her side, ear against her torso. He was met with a still silence. Her sides didn't seem to move and there was no sound of a heart beating. He pulled back and nosed at her face. "Maeve? What are ya doin'?" Subconsciously tears began to build up in his eyes. He pressed himself up against her. The Lyall had to keep her warm until someone showed up. She was so cold. So, so cold. "I'm here." He cooed softly into the fur of her neck. "D-Don't ya worry." But there was no response and the boy was far too late.

Sterling Archer-Lyall

Since arriving in the Scowle the silver boy kept his distance from his packmates, not bothering to get to know them (or their names). He found the place rather dull after being on the move for so long and was not interested in making friends, even if they resided in the same territory as him. Most of his time was spent patrolling the borders, ensuring that the Pookastone security was much better than their eastern neighbour. Or he was meandering about the surrounding territories, poking his nose about as he searched for something interesting, or useful, to bring back to his pack (and mother). Hunting was usually on the agenda, as he didn’t want to be viewed as Morganna’s useless son.

A familiar russet shape appeared in his peripheral, causing the silver Archer to change his route. Where his bother disappearing to in such a hurry? The loud-mouthed Lyall was always good company, even if he was a little annoying. Sometimes. His brows narrowed in confusion as his pace quickened in the direction of his older brother.

As he drew closer to the russet male Sterling could hear him calling out for someone—Maeve. A familiar name; a familiar face. She had lived in Torbine with them before their departure for the north after leaving the lands of Lore with their mother. He could see why they left—it wasn't very appealing. Sterling didn't understand why they had returned to the northern territories after leaving them once before. Whatever. It wasn't his business. He hadn't spent much time with the green-eyed girl—not since he arrived in the Scowle. He almost felt bad. Wasn't she supposed to be like family?

However, as the slender Archer continued forward, he realized something wasn’t right. There was something off about the way the snow settled around the silver female. The strange heaviness that cascaded around them, making it difficult to breathe. A frown tugged at the corners of his mouth as he heard his brother call out to her in a feeble attempt at rousing her from her slumber. But it was not a slumber the scarlet Lyall could wake her from. He kept his distance from his brother and the girl, his expression grim.

Well, shit.

Bojay Lyall

He didn't know his brother was looking on and so his emotions bubbled over into soft sobs. Bojay didn't know why she couldn't hold his warmth - refused to believe that she wouldn't wake up. Certainly his crying would wake her, right? The silver female had never ignored him so why would she now?

"Get up." He whined desperately into the fur of her neck. They still had so much to do. There were wolves to pester together and stories still untold. "W-was it the big bird, Maeve? Did ya live up to the story?" He whispered for only the passed female to hear if she could still hear.

Bojay pulled his head away from her, vision blurred from snow and tears. He blinked his vision clear and took in a deep breath to try and stabilize himself. He caught the form of someone out of the corner of his eye. His brother was barely noticeable against the ivory backdrop. "Sterling..." He whispered in a weak voice. "Ya gotta help me. Sh-She's cold we...we gotta keep her warm."

Sterling Archer-Lyall

Shit.

He shuffled backward, his tail sweeping uncomfortably behind him as he observed his sobbing brother. Sterling didn’t do so well with emotions—especially the sad ones. He’d never seen his russet brother so upset before. He was usually the life of the party, cracking jokes and being obnoxious. But there was none of that. Not today. Just tear-stained cheeks and frantic words attempting to lure the silver girl from her eternal sleep. They wouldn’t work—the ivory Archer knew that. Unfortunately his brother hadn’t clued in yet.

Shit.

As his brother turned to him Sterling stepped froward once more, closing the gap between himself and the Lyall. Ya gotta help me. But there was nothing he—they—could do. The girl was long gone. He wished it had happened further from the Scowle. Then the girl would have been assumed missing and his brother wouldn’t have been so distraught. We can’t help her, Bo, he countered with a frown, his ears sweeping back against his pale skull. ’M sorry, but she’s gone. There was no point beating around the bush. Nothing was going to bring her back anyway.

Elenora Archer

Nellie was after Bojay in hopes that she could convince him to dig out the medicine den, so she'd been on his trail for the better part of.. well long enough to piss her off. Sterling's scent mingled with his. Big surprise. The two of them were together a lot nowadays. Worked for her. Then they'd both stay out of her fur. As the trail grew stronger, the Archer picked up a hint of.. something else. It wasn't noticeable at first, but the closer she got, the more apparent it became. That's when her eyes latched onto Sterling's familiar coat. She was ready to give them an earful for making her travel so far, until her pale eyes found Bojay cuddled up next to a heap of grey fur. Her stomach dropped as the gears worked in her head. Grey fur. That smell. Maeve. It was Maeve. Shooting forward instinctively, the girl blew past her much lighter brother. If she was still breathing.. if she was still breathing.. 'Please be breathing'

Nellie didn't have to dig her nose into the woman's fur to know that she was gone, but she did anyway. Maeve couldn't be gone. She had always been there. She wasn't sick, or old. She couldn't be gone. "C-c-call. 'elp."

It's in the eyes I can tell you will always be danger

With Morganna's charism he wasn't surprised the Scowle grew. But a nagging thought lingered how  long could they go on without trouble. There was just too many highs for no lows to come by to knock them off their feet.

Diligant in making morning rounds, he tried to tuck his fears aside for later.  He wanted to believe he might just be worried for nothing. Focusing on the path ahead, the falling snow helped to settle his mind. It wouldn't last long.

Bojay,Sterling, and then Nellie's scent strung away from the Scowle. What they could be up to only the gods knew. He debated if he should even seek them out. They'd proven themselves and didn't need him hovering over them. Something instead pushed him forward. Soon enough he could see Sterling's tall, white figure in the distance. How instant his nose told him what was amiss. Even then his golden eyes landed on Bo and the silver wolf  beside him, not wanting to believe either. Cutting the distance, he stopped beside his youngest. There was no blood, no struggle and the Lyall's face crumpled in a deep frown. How did this happen? Would Morganna know?
