Judas continued to retain exceptional self control, making his leader proud in a way that she was currently unable to display. She'd of course gotten to know her subordinates by now, and if even if she hadn't any insight into the young man's personality, he had spelled it out for her: all of this went very much against the grain for how he thought and how he would choose to do things.
I do this for you, he had said.
What wasn't appealing, in fact was extremely off putting and an excellent show of why Lachesis' and his horribly entitled and greedy attitude had managed to make allies of the wolves, was Askan's expressions as she spoke. Naturally her eyes had moved continuously between the two, aware that both men were leads of this pack. His eye rolling and permanent sneer weren't even somewhat hidden, and she had to wonder what kind of man he was to his own pack that he could act this way.
It was like dealing with Veho and Rook almost, an unfortunate connection drawn due to the nature of their relationship, except instead of sniveling and sneakily manipulative this Askan was coming off as crass and bullying. She knew then that Veho's counterpart in this loose similarity would be her only hoping at managing anything productive, just as the sage had always more or less been the Hollow's only hope.
Unfortunately, his counter proposal was not something Nineva could immediately agree to; she'd had no intention of forcing Judas' company on the girl, especially since, as Askan had snipped back, they had a healer able to do the hands-on work himself (she wasn't even certain Judas would have any idea what to do). She had, however, intended this supply agreement to be more of a drop off arrangement. Perhaps if only dealing with Reyes, she might have consulted with Judas and asked if he was willing to agree to their terms. The pure animosity that soaked Askan's being, however, made it certain that she would not leave her subordinate, a wolf that trusted her to do what was best for him, in the paws of an entire pack that might very well make sure he didn't see another day.
"Let me serve in his place. After all, as his alpha, I am just as responsible for what happened."
It was likely that this would annoy them, if anything then because she wasn't immediately and wholly agreeing to the take it or leave it offer, but she would have to risk being turned away, unable to make proper amends. It was not worth risking Judas.
