scars remind us who we are

The journey down the mountain with Namara leaning on her side for balance and support was tiring and almost impossible with the large mass against her side. Athena was strong for her size, since she’d lived in the mountains for quite some time now, but she wasn't superwoman by any means. She has her limits. With multiple breaks, she was able to get Namara down the mountain and into their home, however. After having Namara lay down by the trees, Athena made a break for Chantille’s old infirmary.

Time was of the essence and she didn't have the time at the moment to call for everyone. She needed to get the leftover herbs and get back to Namara as soon as she could, then she’d call for the others. However, as soon as she was able to actually remember where Chantille’s old infirmary was, Steels’s deep voice rang out over the lands. Perking her head and ears up to listen momentarily, she went back to searching for the old Healer’s stash. It took her longer than she would have liked, but she finally found it. Gathering the minuscule amount of herbs that Chantille left behind, she tried to take off as fast as she could, but with that sudden movement, all the herbs fell and scattered everywhere. After scraping them into another pile, she gathered them up once again and carefully, but quickly she made her way back to Namara.

Her pace was slower than she would have liked, but she didn't want to risk losing the herbs once again. Soon, the White Queen was able to see the others where she had placed Namara. Her fiery eyes could pick out the burly bodies of Ash, Steel, and of course Eden, but the third was unfamiliar to her. However, the scent that wafted off the female was familiar. Shade wore that same scent, so the female must be from Willow Ridge. Why she was here, was unknown to Athena, but she’d find out.

Approaching the others with her tail curled over her back, her fiery eyes looked over the gathered wolves until she laid her eyes on Namara. The girl looked horrible, but she hoped she’d get better with time. After placing the herbs close to the injured girl, she looked to her men then to the unfamiliar girl. “Who is she? And what is going on?” She inquired, her burning eyes staring at Ash. Athena didn't like being out of the lope in her own pack.

Ash Hervok

For him, Steel was taking far too long to reenter the area, causing even more dread to build up within Ash’s chest. He took care of Namara the whole time though, making sure that she was warm and that the blood had stopped flowing so freely from her body. Hopefully she would pull through this, and Ash would be there to guide her through the therapy of sorts. He did not want her wounding herself to even greater extents because she was determined to prove that she was stronger…the large male knew how that process worked. Finally, when it seemed that they may be out of time, the form of a female and Steel arrived. Quickly removing himself from the girl’s body before they got close enough to see, his tail lifted high, his green eyes cold and speculating as Kyrie made her arrival known.

Her words registered in his head quickly, causing a sharp sigh to escape his muzzle. Ash personally knew that Athena would not take well to owing another pack a favor, Ash himself would not have liked it either, but neither would he want a pack mate to die. Clenching his, he shot a hot look in Steel’s direction. Had the man known that Willow Ridge would be demanding something in return for healing them? For all Ash knew, his own sister would have healed his pack mate for free…but perhaps that was different, considering that Nina was bond to Poison Path due to sibling reasons. It seemed his own hind would be saved by the presence of Eden, one of their newest members. He had not been with them long, but when he spoke of healing abilities Ash’s own anger spiked. Glaring at the male for a few seconds, he no longer heard what the man said, but obviously, if the man had not relied the information of his abilities then the alpha male would not have been in this situation.

Resisting the urge to snap and yell at the male, his stone cold features turned back towards the smaller girl, “Your services are no longer needed. Thank you for coming on such short notice though.” The small spoke to the female in a dull tone, showing how unhappy he was about this situation. As if things could not get any worse, Athena soon arrived, her mouth filled with what looked like herbs. It appeared as though Ash had not scented Athena’s perfume near Namara when he had come, for it was already highly likely considering the amount of blood that caked the area. With her demanding question, his own ears flickered towards the white Queen, her stern voice penetrating his brain. Quickly, he answered, short and brief, “Steel and I found Namara. We needed a healer and Steel said he knew someone. He retrieved her, Eden arrived, and she was just leaving, weren’t you, Kyrie?” His ghostly mossy green eyes turned to look back at the Willow wolf, his stance demanding she get away from their lands immediately. It was for her own good and perhaps the good of Athena’s mind. With a small snort he nuzzled Namara’s cheek gently, as if reassuring her that help was now here. Everything would end up alright.

Namara Hervok
Hazes and blurs faded into nothingness as the big greyish she wolf slipped into unconsciousness and at first the images in her head were blurs, shapes and noises that meant nothing until as her physical being began to stabilize, once the blood stopped flowing and she was curled within Ash, and warm things began to focus. She was dimly aware of the pains nagging at her in her right front ankle and her left hind leg, some stabbing pain in her stomach, sides and back. But that was not what caused the pain the she wolf felt. Before her she saw images of her past, watched herself destroy other wolves as she had nearly done her own brother. Anguish was her legacy and hate was her maiden name, why? A myriad of images crossed behind her eyes until at last she stood beside Ash on the pack border, and there she snapped at Brenton, Ash's reprimand and the strange face she pulled when he nudged her shoulder, Then came an image of herself talking to Navar, they were tame, she caused these wolves no pain. It was strange, the feeling that stirred within her. An odd mixture of determination and some softer emotions began to mix together to form a strong sense. Loyalty would be her moniker from here, honesty and truth would be her names. Namara Laylani, torturer of kin would be no more, this was Namara Laylani awakened. There was Kamota standing near her at the border, her silent promise would be known only to her, "I will make you strong Kamota." There was a final Image, Namara's broken body curled within Ash's it was as if she was watching from a distance, there he was grooming her, she felt her heart soften for him, for she had begun to see just from the gestures at the border, the brute wasn't all bad. Tenzin had abandoned any good and even proclaimed hatred for Kamota. Her pack had only just made her feel like she belonged and that was because she had nearly died. She watched and hoped she could stay trapped here forever, and feel like someone cared. For once.

A nudge at her shoulder woke the grey female and the dull pains she had felt in her sleep rust in upon her and she whimpered again at the agony that racked her body. The dream hazed away and sadness mixed with the hurt in the grey females gaze. She twisted her head to look at her curled form, this was the position she noticed she felt the least pain in her gut. The blood had been cleaned for the most part, a quizzical look came upon her face as she turned her head to gaze at the gathered wolves, Ash, whom smelled of her blood, that explained where that went. Then there was Eden the newest male and Athena. Athena, Namara dared not move for fear of more pain shooting through her body, but instead she huffed weakly just so her lady knew she was still there, still holding on. She dared not open her mouth and merely set her head back down on it's side and gazed at the large guardian Steel, and last a newcomer, carrying the scent of Shade Slayer's pack. She made not sound but kept her eyes open so that she could at least see if that awful black wolf came back to try and finish her off.

Her mind was still fuzzy and a few times her eyes would still widen and she would gasp as if she was still there, a few moments passed and her stomach heaved again, she vomited as she had on the mountain, there must have been something to her prone position of lack of movement for this time she saw only bile on the snow, there was only a slight orangeish tint. She looked around almost guilty and shameful that she had put on such a display. But all at once she could take no more, pitiful whines and shivering wracked her body. Few words tumbled from her maw, repeating themselves over and over again, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean too, I should have known I'm so sorry, forgive me." It has to be my fault, I've made winter harder for them, this is all my fault if only I had stayed away from that damn mountain. In a word Namara Laylani had been broken.

Steel Kaldorr
Steel arrived with Kyrie in tow. He lowered his head and tail a bit below Ash's and gave a slight nod of greeting to his alpha as he tipped his head towards Kyrie. Although the sentiment was not one he was familiar with, he was grateful that she had been willing to come. Their first encounter had been tense to say the least, but she had helped him with his mangled paws before leaving the mountains. They had healed well, but he feared for Namara. He did not know that fae and had no desire to, but she was a subject of Athena's and the white queen would not like to see her die for lack of care.

He stood silently to the side as Kyrie introduced herself and calmly took charge. This side of Kyrie intrigued him. By nature she was shy, accommodating and often fearful. At least around him, but then he made no efforts to be more....sociable. Yet now, with a patient before her, she was giving orders not only to him, but to Ash as well. They were polite, but she still took command of the situation and he wasn't sure what to make of her. When she told him to go the infirmary and get herbs, he looked at Ash with a question in his stormy eyes. He silently shook his head to indicate that he hadn't the slightest idea of where the infirmary might be.

Before he could do or even say anything more another wolf arrived. A male of their pack, albeit an extremely new member. He gave claim to healing knowledge, which Steel of course had no knowledge of. A quick glance at Ash's expression and he knew that the alpha was not aware of such a fact either. Had he been, Steel would never have gone to get Kyrie for help and wasted both his and her time. Athena arrived then and demanded to know what was going on. As Ash summarized for her, Steel dipped his head deeply for Athena's benefit. A sign of respect that was reserved for her and her alone.

Something in him twinged at Ash's dismissal and almost threatening posture towards the small healer. It was hardly her fault that she was here unnecessarily. That lay on the newcomer, Eden's shoulders. It was done though. There was no need for unnecessary roughness from anyone. Feeling sure that Kyrie was still fearful of the mountains on her own, he surprised himself by saying, "I'd like to escort her off of the mountain, then." It was the first time that he'd ever asked for anything and he felt strange as he waited for his alphas reaction. Getting the healer safely down the mountain was the least he could do for her trouble. If she came to harm for her goodwill then surely they would owe the Willow wolves a debt. A very large one.

Ash Hervok
I'm going to close this up now. it's been delayed for far too long. By May 4th I will be archiving this.

So many things seemed to be going past his mind at once. Namara vomiting up some more did not settle well with his stomach, but the alpha pushed away his uncertain feelings and concentrated back on the task in front of him. At the sound of Steel’s questioning voice, the Hervok looked towards him, evaluating him before nodding his head. He knew that the Guardian was not one to talk and if he did, it meant business and something extremely serious. Permission had been given for the male to leave with Kyrie, and Ash was happy to see the stranger soon be on her way. Relaxing slightly, he looked back towards Namara as she spoke to them and hesitantly the man made his way forward, lowering his brown body so that he was near their pack mate’s ear, his green gaze shooting a glare that demanded that Eden move his ass before Ash kicked it for him.

Quietly, he tried to comfort Namara the best he could, "Shh. It’ll be alright. Eden is going to take care of everything and we are going to make you better." His words were soft and tender, not carrying the usual power and fierceness within his voice. Instead, found there was compassion and care, nothing like any other wolf would have found, save Athena, if they were on the borders and they were faced with a loner. He was relieved when their newcomer finally arrived with the proper tools and set off to work. Taking a deep breath and sparing a glance towards Athena, he stared at the woman. The pack was risking plenty of its resources for Namara and though Ash knew that it was for the best for their family member. Silently, the male took his place next to Athena, taking a small moment to bump his muzzle against her shoulder in a reassuring motion. Flicking his ears, he looked back towards Eden when he signaled his finishing, and together, the trio helped Namara back towards their home. A close eye was to be kept on her, and Ash knew he would be the one to do it.

I think I've finally seen the light..in you.
