Shade Slayer
[Shade is leading up the next round, the last round @Anastasia, @Capella, @Lachesis, @Ill No posting order, please have posts in by 7-7-2013 so I can fade it out.]

Shade watched as they all arrived to where they were, or at least two of them did, Lachesis and Ill seemed to fall behind. They would catch up no doubt, this forest was hard to track through, but he didn’t doubt either of their abilities. He let out a small call for the two men, in his mind; he was trying to figure out the pack rankings. Ace obviously deserves the rank right below me and Capella right below Ana, they’ve been here the longest time and they help out so much. But then it gets tricky, Lachesis has the more experience as part of the family, but Ill has more life experience. I think that perhaps I should give it to Ill, if anyone gets upset about it they can talk to me.

After he had figured it all out, he waited. "We’ll move forward slowly until they catch up." He decided finally, his eyes calm as he looked into the eerie forest ahead. It was going to be a long road, but at the end there were diamonds and pearls for them, a place to call home, and the greatest treasure of all, a place to raise Karpos and Adsila. His feet moved silently on the ground, his dark fur blending into the forest just like his son’s fur. They had both made him proud on several accounts, and sometimes they made him mad, but that was the fun of being a parent. He knew they would both be happy, and they were a bit too young to understand why Ana was their ‘mom’ now instead of Rosealia. All in time they would find out.

ILL Grey

All this thinking to himself, Ill was so lost in thought, like always, that he had let the rest of them move on without him. He was alone; the creepy copse around him drawing nearer now that he had lost the company of his friends. A shiver greeted his spine once more. In the distance he could hear Shades call to him..and Lachesis as well. Hm, he had not heard of his fellow pack member since the beginning of the journey; Ill wondered if he was okay and didn't fall farther behind then himself. Erasing the worries from his mind, the ashen wolf lept forward; sprinting in a attempt to reunite with the waiting pack. Hopefully they wouldn't be too annoyed with his lateness. Why had they wanted to travel through just a creepy place?

Even running, Ill had a quiet, stealthiness about him. It was in the Grey bloodline to be as silent as a shadow; each of his brothers had the same skill. Every time paws met the earth, the sound could be compared to wing beats, soft thudding that couldn't be interpreted from the other forest sounds around him. It didn't take long to catch up, surprising Ill as he broke through several bushes and not slowing down in time. If it wasn't for a quick dodge, he would of surly slammed right into Anastasia. Letting out a great sigh, he stared back half expecting to see a familiar face behind him. Lachesis, where was he?

Anastasia Starklen

Anastasia tried to remain calm, attempting to not worry herself too much as the young Karpos flew off immediately. She assumed he expected everyone else to go running with him to get there faster but not everyone could go as fast as he could. Everyone didn’t have that much energy left in them to make the rest of their trip by running. Ana wished she could spend whatever energy she had left to go run to Dragonfly Fen but she simply didn’t have that luxury.

With each step she took she got a little happier, finding that it was very comforting to know that she would soon be in an official pack. There would be multiple wolves looking out for her and Lachesis. The two of them had been searching for a pack for a month at the very least and they were finally a part of one. Anastasia could not have asked for a better group of characters to make up this pack.

Capella was sweet and young, kind and forgiving who had befriended XIX. Then XIX who was finally getting the natural pack life and wolves who weren’t automatically a family by blood. Then there was Ace and Ill who Anastasia had never had the luxury to properly meet but she expected that Shade saw them in a bright light.

Turning her gaze back she looked into the distance to find where Lachesis had gone, hoping that he hadn’t strayed too far. It normally wasn’t like him to lag behind but she knew he wouldn’t abandon them this far into their discovery.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
While they had been walking, XIX had absentmindedly begun to detour away from the group. With his nose pressed to the ground, he ventured off into the foliage to explore further. The last time the yearling had travelled through the Copse he almost hadn’t made it out; the trees were packed so tightly together in some spots that it was almost impossible to trek through the forest. Branches lunged at him, desperately trying to grab hold of his pale pelt as he maneuvered around the thin tree trunks. He made sure to keep an ear cocked toward the group to ensure that he wasn’t traveling too far away from them. The yearling was making sure that there were no threats lurking around, especially with the young Karpos leading the group.
His thoughts began to wander as he grew more and more excited – where were they going to end up? Would he like this new home better than the Woods? How were Ana and Capella feeling about the move? Would he be happy in this new home? It was Shade’s call that brought him back to reality, and caused the spider-legged yearling to stumble over a loose tree root. Composing himself, the boy darted toward the group, weaving around the trees with ease to meet up with the rest of the group. He stepped toward the chocolate leader, ears flattened against his head as he nosed Shade’s chin to apologize for running off. Slowing his pace, XIX fell back into step beside the blue-eyed leader while flashing her a shy smile before pressing a quick lick to her cheek.

Karpos Slayer
until you know what's inside

Karpos watched all the interactions around him, soon his da had caught up to him, scolding him for running off like that, and Ana arrived as well, with Pella close by, so most of them had caught up, Ace and Adsila catching up too. The only ones behind were Lachesis and Ill, both of which caught up after his da called out a bit for them. So stubbornly, he took the lead again, but did not run, knowing that most of them looked really tired, he was thinking that they should rest, but dared not talk to his father after that embarrassing encounter with the running ahead, though his puppy legs had not taken him very far. He himself felt alive and full of energy despite his general tiredness.

Karp did think though, his mind racing to use some of his energy. If a pack is a family, does that make Ace, Lachesis and Il my uncles and Pella my aunt? Surely it must, I should call them Uncle and Aunt from now on, no matter what my da says. Even his thoughts were stubborn. He went closer to his ma, not wanting the lead so suddenly, standing right by her leg. When Lach had caught up, he gave Karp’s da a lick on the chin, which Karp did not yet know was an apology. He just thought it was weird. He giggled a bit as they walked through the forest. The haunting thing was not as scary as he had thought at first.

The pale female walked in step with the rest of her family, keeping mostly to herself. Although she was there physically, mentally she was long gone; far away in another time. Briefly her eyes flicked back toward the direction of her foggy woods. It was like leaving home, but that place had never truly been theirs. It didn't even belong to the pack residing there. It belonged to the spirits that inhabited it, the feeling of being watched. It was no place to make a home or raise puppies. They had all just been guests to the specters, and now it was their time to leave. She had to admit she was going to miss the movement in her peripheral vision, and the strange looking shadows. A sigh escaped from her throat and she pushed on, following her superiors through the Fen.

She had been here before, but still it seemed so new. Everything was soggy and flooded, but it was perfect nonetheless. Well, as close to perfect as one could get without staying in the foggy woods. She allowed her head to move with her eyes as she took note of everything she could. After all, Capella didn't want to go out to scent the boarders and find herself lost with no way to get back. Dead trees laid themselves across the forest floor, and damp soil conformed to the shape of her paw pads. Although it might not have seemed like the perfect place, she knew it would be. There was protection here, safety. They might have to travel a little bit farther to hunt big game, but at least they would be able to do so in confidence that a loner wasn't going to traipse into their dens and steal the cubs. Everything was coming together, and though she had mixed emotions about this place, she knew it would all work out.

Shade Slayer

Shade knew everyone had caught up, and they were all exhausted as night had almost begun to fall. He stopped and turned, Karpos also stopping he made sure of. "We traveled far, we’ll stop here to rest, the forest will give us enough protection, and we’ll finish our journey to the final destination tomorrow where we can officially claim our home." He stated, looking for a good place for the pups to stay. His eyes narrowed, seeing a small little cave in the midst of the copse and so he ushered them into the cave, seating himself outside the cave as to protect them from anything that might lurk, it was his duty. Father, Smith, Warrior, Mother, Maiden, Crone, Stranger. It was true, their mother was a stranger to them, he was their guardian, their father, their teacher. Anastasia was like their mother, or was their mother, but not by blood.

It was a strange thing, his heart ached, all the stressful situations had worn on him over the years, and fatherhood was no different. He had gray hairs on his face now, he was reaching the middle stages in his life and approaching the golden years, but he would face through it all, and some day he hoped Karpos would step up, or Adsila, and lead the pack, because in the end, everyone always died. There was one god, and his name was death, he ruled over everything. What does one say to death? Not today. Not today. Not Today.
