Though Tagg had accepted the circumstances of his departure with Fallen Tree Cove and knew there was nothing he could have done to change it, he felt guilty again. It must have been so hard on them to lose two wolves without a word at the same time. The pack was small to begin with, there were some other missing faces. He’d heard Anthem had died and his siblings had taken off, and Aleister had gone too.
They were barely hanging on. Tagg realized.
And then with named stepping down for a while… it must have worsened an already tense situation. No wonder Kajika was feeling so stressed.
He smiled at his friend. “I know things got hard, especially losing so many good members of the pack around the same time. It’s a miracle the pack has managed to stay together.” He nudged Kajika in a friendly manner. “But it’s almost spring. Spring means pups, and maybe we’ll get a few joiners. Already our numbers are starting to grow again. You don’t have to do everything on your own anymore; we’re all here to help you.”
He knew how hard it could be to relearn how to depend on others after you’d spent so much time taking care of everything on your own. “You’ve done so much for Fallen Tree Cove; let the pack return the favor. If there’s anything I can do to help, just ask.”
