The Rye Queen's banner wagged behind her happily at the good news. Healthy pups meant healthy pack, but more importantly...happy parents. The woman's voice was soft when she spoke, "Congratulations." Adelayde's voice drifted to her and the Tainn woman flushed slightly at the invitation. It was kind of Adelayde, to allow her to see the children. Just as she was about to step forward, however, their Lowest's voice made her stop in her tracks. A grey ears flicked in her direction and for a moment Jessie - were those black dots she saw. With a snarl, Jessie whirled, emerald eyes fixed on the man in front of her, jaws snapping. The woman's heart rate accelerated and breathing picked up. For a moment, the alpha reminded herself to calm down. It would do no good to lose her temper, not again. When Jessie spoke, her voice was a low growl, "Mind your tongue and remember who you are speaking with." Jade eyes flashed ferociously. "We appreciate your desire to help, and after you presented what you had, I believe your alpha dismissed you. So I think you should be on your way unless you want to be on extra border patrols for the next moon." Nope, her temper was still there. Why was her head pounding so bad? The woman huffed, moving back towards the birthing den to allow Laike to have the last word should he chose. Now, for the children. The monochrome mother did nothing more than pop her head into the den, wanting to give her second as much room as possible. First, emerald eyes moved over her friend before moving towards the two pups sucking on her mother's nipples. A light, for the first time in awhile, entered the Rye matriarch's eyes. Breathing out, she moved her gaze to Adelayde, voice soft, "They're beautiful." |
Laike appreciated Jessie's words at the disgusting disobedience of their lowest but Laike was not pleased with just words. With his new children so close and his wife in a tender state, Laike saw Alvar's behavior as a downright threat to his family. With clicking jaws he moved towards the Rye's lowest with the goal of driving him away from the birthing area. The Artemieva trusted his co-lead to take care of his wife while he dealt with this problem.
The new father thought he was being rather nice by just dismissing his lowest from the birthing den and not the pack all together. Granted if this behavior continued Laike would have no problem making an executive decision.
Alvar was startled by the snarl of his leader as she whirled around and told him to mind his tongue. After which she proceeded to walk towards the den. He was about to speak to her when @Laike started towards Alvar with a snarl on his jaws and a fire in his eyes.
Alvar saw that the male was angry with him and was willing to do whatever it took to drive the smaller male away. Alvar could tell that he needed to get out of here quickly before he got a beating to remember, so he spoke quickly. "If she ends up needing it have her eat half and save the rest in case she needs more..." He turned and started trotting away from the birthing den, about one wolf length away he turned his head and shouted to the others over his shoulder as he walked... "I am happy for you, May they have the strength of their father and the kindness of their mother."
(Alvar's Exit)
She was pleased to hear the snapped words of her alpha as the peppered Queen addressed the interloper, dismissing him once again. However, she could still hear the angered growl from her husband before the lowest finally decided he wanted to keep his hide. A pleased smile touched her lips when Jessie returned to gaze at the Rye's next generation that suckled sweetly at her breast. Adelayde couldn't help the pride that swelled in her chest at her words, but she was no fool to the other emotions that certainly caused turmoil for the Rye matriarch. The Avalon line should be continuing, but it seemed the Lore had other plans for the tundra wolves. A new line was beginning.
A soft sigh left her lips as she laid her down back against the fur lining of her birthing den, her mismatched gaze fluttering shut as exhaustion crept upon her body. Sleep would cover her if nobody disturbed it. Adelayde was content to know her husband would certainly be standing guard and Jessie wouldn't be far.
